Take good care of my baby. . .
Be just as kind as you can be.
And if you should discover,
That you don’t really love her. . .
Just send my baby back home to me!
Oh my friends, I could hardly wait to get home and share this special find. I have really missed you and can’t wait to come visit.
Now for the story behind the pictures and lyrics.
At one of the yard sales we went to in St. George I spied this gallon size baggie on a table full of stuff.
The words ‘old blanket’ immediately caught my eye.
Tucked inside and hidden under the doilies is where I found this treasure.
When I took it out of the bag I could hardly believe my eyes. Like many of you, I swear I heard angels singing.
Now here’s the kicker. When I took the bag up to pay for it the girl (who I would guess to be in her 30’s) said, “enjoy that blanket, it was mine as a baby and my grandmother made it for me.”
I gasped and said, “Oh my gosh, are you sure you want to sell it?” A few of my friends gathered round and said the same thing. She replied, “now ladies”. indicating that she didn’t want us to talk her back into saving it. I said, at least tell me your name, so I can think of you every time I look at it.
She replied, “Terry”.
Sweet Terry, thank you for this treasure. I will cherish and love it dearly. After I got home I thought that I should have given her my number in case she ever changed her mind. But then, if I hadn’t nabbed it someone else would have.
It’s hard for me to understand how someone could part with such a cherished item. But then, it’s a good thing that not everyone has emotional attachments. If they did there would be no treasures for us to find, right?
Here’s the cute doilies inside. Talk about a lot of bang for your buck. Can you believe, $3 for all this?
Two of them are runners. I soaked them all in Biz this morning and they came out beautiful. A few minor stains on a couple.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
hugs,
Jann

What beautiful finds these are Jann. I've parted with so many things (when I was young) only to wish I had them back again. So sad. Thanks for sharing & blessings, Patti
Great find and price! I have sold/given away many things over the years that I had second thoughts about, but if I had not cleaned out periodically I would have to have a very large home to house it all.
Enjoy your evening.
Such a beautiful and pressure blanket!!
Hi, Wow, you found some real pretty things. It's hard to believe the girl didn't want the quilt...Connie
That blanket is just so beautiful! I am with you, I can't understand how someone could part with it. I have about 5 of my Grandmother's quilts and I could never let them go.
Oh, I just would have been squealing~!
You found an awesome treasure~
I LOVE these old things. This is also why I love yardsales~ ding, ding, ding... I think you made a killer purchase...
Enjoy that little precious treasure Jann.
I want to go junkin' in St. George...
(Manti is awesome sometimes too, for the old finds, just for future reference).

=)
Unbelievable! A true treasure--- she doesn't know what she's missing!
The quilt is amazing. I've bought things from people getting rid of their treasures. We're not all emotionally attached to things....hard for some of us to understand though. I'm just glad you got something you'll enjoy!
Beautiful quilt ! At least its in the home of someone who will cherish it :)
I could hear the angels singing all the way to MN!! That little quilt is a wonderful treasure and I'm glad it will be appreciated by you. :)
Wow, I'm happy for you, but sad that the young lady had no need for something that her grandmother made for her as a baby. I know you will give it a good home though.
Farmhouse hugs,
Cindy
Oh my goodness, I can't believe these incredible finds. I agree, I can't believe she could part with that quilt! Mary
Some people just don't appreciate such fine vintage items!
I'm sure the blanket will have a good home!
Jann that is just beautiful. I too find it hard to believe how people let such important and sentimental items go, but they do. So you enjoy it and one day someone else will love it also.
hugs,
Linda
Charming little quilt. Hard to imagine giving up such an heirloom.
P.S. Love all the sunshine you seem to be getting! We have been under fog and cloud for months.
Oh Jann, I am in love with all of your sweet goodies :) The blanket is just precious and the doilies are beautiful. I am so surprised the young woman would want to get rid of her quilt! Enjoy :)
Hugs,
Stephanie
What a sweet deal - lovely!
Jann,
I would guess see did not have children yet,,,,,one day she well think about the quilt. Glad it found a special lady to take care of it.
Love the dollies also.
Cathy's Cupboard Calamity <;)
Oh, it is so beautiful. I can't imagine parting with it.
But, if anyone was going to take it home, at least it was you and you will love it like it should be.
So glad it found a loving new home ... it always surprises me when people come into the antique store to sell family heirlooms. Kind of sad, really.
I have made quilts for all eight of my granddaughters when they were born. I have to put myself in the shoes of the woman who lovingingly pieced that quilt with such hopes and dreams for that child. Did they have a falling out? We'll never know. At least it will now get the love it deserves.
What a pretty baby quilt and what a great price you got everything for. I can't imagine ever getting rid of something that my grandmother would of made for me. I know you will cherish it with love.
hugs,
Cindy
Oh, what a find, but sad at the same time! I went to a sale once and bought a ton of embroidered table clothes the ladies mom handmade and I said "Don't you want these" Nope they didn't! Well, these treasures are the thing that motivates us to keep hunting!
Carol
ITS BEAUTIFUL!!! What a steal of a deal. Its exactly like the quilt I would like for my future baby girl. Keep that in mind grandma (wink, wink)
What a GREAT find! I too can't believe someone would so easily part with something like this beautiful heirloom, but as you said if people did not there would be no chance for the rest of us to discover and enjoy them! Thanks for sharing!
Irene
Oh, that makes my heart ache! My mother was not a saver, so I really have nothing from my early childhood and cannot imagine letting go of something that special. However, I am so glad that it went to someone who will appreciate it, like you will.
Jann, that little quilt is beautiful, but I guess if she had to get rid of it I'm glad you got it. I know it will be much loved.
Oh my and oh dear! She may regret it some day but I'm glad for you! ♥
Jann, I wonder if young people have the same kind of attachment that we have. I could never have parted with something made so special by a grandmother. It's like I would think of the love involved in making it.Sad.:( I know you will love it and care for it. xoxo,Susie
Oh Jann, how terribly sad! But at the same time a wonderful find for you--and you will treasure that quilt and give it the love and care that it deserves. Imagine the hours that Terry's grandmother put into that expression of love... I am so glad that it has found a loving home with you!
What a story and a great quilt, you will give it love and the doillies are beautiful too.
Cynthia
Hello Jann!!! I am so excited that you came over to visit my blog! I love making new friends, and sometimes when a new visitor finds me and I go to visit back I realize they are actually kindred friends who love and cherish the same things I do. Your quilt and doily finds are the stuff that dreams are made of. That little quilt...oh how sweet!!! I can only hope that all such treasures out there find homes with those who will cherish them for the lovely art and love they express. So happy to be your newest follower!
Blessings,
Doni
Wow what a story. Amazing. I guess she really need the money. You have some wonderful treasures. Thanks for sharing this.
BTW I came by today because I am stopping in at all my followers to say hi.
Thanks for visiting.
Have a great day.

Love the lace and runners! I could put one on the chifforobe
and some on the arms of the davenport. A nice set on the
credenza, maybe a head piece for chesterfield too. I think I
already have that little one on the hall sideboard.
love your posts,
Victoria Lavender
Some treasures slipped through my hands when I was young and foolish but now I could never let that quilt go. Great find, and so are the other linens, Jann.
Holy smokes Jann, what a find! I can't imagine that either. My daughters have their baby blankies made by grandmas and great grandmas and wouldn't dream of selling them. Actually, my older daughter now uses them for her children. Well, what I do with old treasures is honor them and pass them on as found heirlooms. :)
what a fabulous find, Jann! it's so precious!!
So beautiful! I love quilts. My grandmother never got to do my quilt. She cut out all the pieces and then died before assembling it. My mom has the pieces, some of old flour sacks, but no one quilts. I have seen lovely ones.
it's a treasure for you and sad as well..but if you appreciate it more then its found a rightful home :)
So lovely...and so much work.
That just takes my breath away! Such a treasure in so many respects. A treasure for knowing the person behind it and her story.. and a treasure for such a fabulous find!!!
The quilt is gorgeous. I wouldn't have parted with it, but good for you Terry wanted to.
That is the kind of find we all dream about. Lucky you. Enjoy
Janice
Oh, Jann, that blanket! I can just feel how soft. I love the patterns of the fabric and those hexagons--so trendy right now too. Can't believe the price and that Terry was willing to part with it. Oh well, I know her grandmother would be happy to have it in your home where it will be loved and cherished. Thank you for you ever-encouraging comments and for linking up with my blog party! I'm up to three party-goers as of now! :-)
