Hello my friends,
Oh my, it's a gorgeous day here in Utah!
I'm heading out doors to do a bit of yard clean up and plant pots for some spring color.
But before I do I wanted to share with you my 'gnome home'.
I felt like a kid again playing with my gnomes.
I felt like a kid again playing with my gnomes.
Well, thanks to Country Living they now have a new home inside a lantern. I saw in the C.L. magazine that they had planted succulents inside of lanterns so I decided to give the idea a bit of a twist and turn it into a 'gnome home'.
They are loving it, and if you ask me; they seem to be whistling while they work. :)
And how sweet is this cabbage cottage I found at our
local thrift shop?
I wish I could be like Alice and make myself small enough to climb inside that wee little door! Had to add a bit of Irish talk for the month of St. Patty's. lol!
When I was planting my Pots with grass seed I tucked the little cabbage house inside my lantern and sprinkled seed around it. I left space for a path, a few succulents, and of course; my little gnomes and bottle brush trees. Just can't get enough of these cute trees!
It's been sitting in my kitchen window. This morning I moved it out on to the porch and tied some garden gloves to the top with pretty ribbons. Just grabbed spring colors from my stash.
I think they are going to like it out there. Who wouldn't with some sweet bunnies watching over you?
There's only one sad side of this tale. One of the little gnomes had a falling out with his brothers and was banished to the
mushroom house.
Ha, ha! Not really, he just went there to harvest some pretty red flowers for the 'gnome home'.
( I picked up the mushroom shaped jar at another thrift for $.75 cents.)
I'm so happy that all is well in the land of gnomes!
After all, fairy tales always have happy endings!!
hugs,
Jann

Dear Jann:
Those turned out really fun!
Once upon a time, there was a terribly clever gal, whose name just happened to be Jann, who lived in the most wonderful home of fabricated whimsy, delight, fun and gorgeousness!! Love, love, love your little gnomes and their wee homes. Fairy tales in your lovely home always have the most wonderful and happiest of endings!!
So cute!
There's no place like ghnome. lol LOVE it, Jann. Nothing like a bit of fun to make you smile. xo Diana

HOw cute! And the mushroom house is something I always look for when out thrifting... my Mother bought one in the early 80's or late 70's... and always kept shells in it because we had lived in Florida. A few years ago she dropped the lid and broke it. So, I am on the hunt for a new lid. :) I found another one but it is actually slightly smaller, but it will do for now. Enjoy your weekend! I'm off to go join your linky party.
How absolutely darling! I was especiay caught by your desire to be small enough to live in those gnome homes; when I design and build my miniature buildings, I always create places where I would actually live or hang out. When I was a little girl, I wished I could live in my dollhouses. Tin and plastic never was a problem. When you dream little-girl dreams at any age, it enhances your life. Your posts are always proof of that. Here's to cuteness and fun!
Your little gnome homes are adorable. The pretty pastel bottle brush trees make it look even more enchanted. You must have great thrift stores to have mushroom jars and cabbage houses. Thanks for showing us around your gnome homes, very cheerful.
Jann, your gnomes are so much fun. I thought I was bad with the Barbie House, but I can hear your little buggers singing...lol, too much fun for one person---I will have to find someplace to put mine!
Sandi
Oh so much fun Jann, and so cute! Your glass mushroom is perfect!
This post was just over the top cuteness! :)
I just love them! =)
Just too adorable! I have always loved fairies and all the other creatures that go with them, like gnomes. I have been making Fairy garden terrariums and have so much fun. I will have to add some gnomes as neighbors!

Love all your gnome vignettes. I especially like the mushroom container. sb
I just saw that same cottage at a place here called BIG LOTS. They want $10 for it, and they also had 3 other styles. Cute!
