Hello my friends,
I don't know what it is about moss that makes me love it so.
But, I'm telling you I do!
I love it in the garden and when ever I'm hiking and see it tumbling over rocks, or growing on logs it's all I can do to restrain myself from hauling those babies home. lol!
(this was taken last fall while hiking in New England)
So of course when I spied a wooden 'E' (for Easter) at a thrift shop, I would want to cover it with moss.
Easy enough! I had some sheet moss so I just turned it over, traced it, cut it out, and then glued it on. Wish all projects were this simple!
The letter 'E' was only the beginning of my moss madness!
I started pulling out every little moss thing that I had.
A pot with touches of moss was filled with faux cabbages.
Moss balls that I also picked up at our thrift shop were placed in a jar and one was corralled under a wire cloche. Simply because it wouldn't fit in the jar. :)
I remembered that I had a moss tree and I covered a couple of paper mache eggs with moss as well.
My bunny plate decided that she wanted to
play in the moss.
Staying with the 'green' theme so that my mantle would work for both St. Patty's and Easter I kept the embellishments on the moss E fairly simple. A bit of Easter grass, a few flowers, and some pretty seam binding for ribbon.
I tossed in my giant moss ball next to a large faux cabbage.
I'm simply mad about moss!
How about you? Do you love moss too?
hugs,
Jann

Well, how absolutely lovely! Enjoyed seeing all the beautiful green in the nooks and crannies of your place!
Hello, You made me smile... I guess I never looked at moss very much before! But I must admit it looks very natural and perfect for Spring decorating!
Love all that you do Jann!
Hugs to you! Roxy
I looked at your mantle and thought..."The time has come,' the Walrus said,
To talk of many things:
Of shoes — and ships — and sealing-wax —
Of cabbages — and kings — " Lewis Carroll
It's crazy the things we remember. SOMEWHERE buried I have mossy rocks and little moss bunnies....but for the life of me, I don't know where. When the house remodel reaches a place of doneness or vacation---I will hit the craft room/garage storage area and find them.
I love your ideas and wish I could duplicate them here in the dust/disaster we call home...lol. Thanks for the tour, Sandi
You are so creative! :)
Collect it every year at out my mom's place where I grew up in the country...now with the grandson..
Jann, it all looks so pretty! I have a moss monogram on my agenda too. :)
I do love moss. I have some beautiful moss growing on one side of my yard and I have tried numerous times to transplant it. It just doesn't transplant well for me. Don't know if this is something you can do or not.
Love all of your moss goodies!
Judy
Looks great! I decorate with moss and birds nests after easter for spring. love your mossy vignette, especially the E!

It looks so pretty and festive. I love how you used green. It seems right, because St. Patrick's day is so close to Easter this year. xoxo Su
I have seen moss letters and thought they were so cute. I never thought about making my own.
I am in love with that bunny plate.
Ooh, Jann, I love your mantel with all the green accessories! I believe this mantel is one of my favorites you've ever styled! The moss is perfect and, yes, I love it too. I find myself taking pictures of it on hikes as well. :)
Hello Jann!
I am sooooo with you on the moss thing! I always want to scoop it up and take it home, too! You know what else? Lichen! Ha! My mother in law lets me scrape it off of her crepe myrtle trees! The bark peels every year off of crepe myrtles, so you can pull it off super easy! I've made moss & lichen fairy houses and furniture/fairy thrones for my daughter, etc....Next up is my daughter's 8th grade formal dance -- with a them of enchanted woodlands!!!! I get to use moss and lichen galore!! Ha ha! I'm in heaven! I'll do a blog post on the enchanted woodlands decorations in a few months.

Such a lovely post! You have such a great eye- love the monogram- may have to borrow (steal) that idea and the bunny plate is darling. I agree so much- especially in early Spring I just want to cover everything in moss lol
Very pretty and crafty. That reminds me I have a moss covered pot.
Another item lost in storage. There must be one big box of my kitchen/decor stuff buried. I keep thinking of missing items!
Thanks for sharing and coming over.
Have a good week.
Looks great! All some garden tools to your mantle too!
I love the look of all the moss on things and the 'E' came out really well. Your display looks very springy. Great idea to use the wire fence sections for a backdrop too. I hope you have a springy week ahead. Pam
I do love moss, Jann, and I have loved it since I was a kid. It has a magical quality, I think. Lots of ideas here and I love how your letter E turned out. Thanks for sharing with us.
Blessings,
Sandi
Jann, I love your moss! This may sound crazy...but I love seeing moss hanging from trees and when it is somewhat dark and what some would call gloomy...well, I love it! Love your moss project. You are a talented and gifted lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
I used to love moss, but not anymore. Hubby put a walkway in a few years ago. He laid the bricks in sand, but a year later moss started to grow in it. I loved it until it was raining one day and I fell because of the moss. Now I did dig it up when it tries to grow between the bricks.
Very pretty, Jann! I love how the letter turned out!
I love moss too and I even tried growing it in my garden. Some took but it takes a long time! You are so clever to put moss on the E. Love it! Your whole mantel looks great!
The letter turned out perfect. I love the moss on the flower pot- one of my favorite looks!
I always love moss and many trees here in Oregon have it. I think of it as tree fur!
I love petting it.
What a perfect vignette for the start of spring!!!
Loving your pretty mantel dressed up in moss madness! Very creative and beautiful spring inspiration! Hugs, Poppy
i love, Love, LOVE the moss. i totally understand the madness lol. your moss eggs came out great, it's on my list for this year. love all your moss-y details. tfs. xo- maryjo
Given the weather in Brittany, I have a lot of moss to remove from my garden path at this time of year, because it makes it slippery and dangerous... Nos, you're giving me ideas on how to use it!
I too adore moss. Your monogram is brilliant! I just bought some moss balls to add to my spring decor. Thank you so very much for sharing your wonderful post on Thoughts of Home on Thursday. It is my sincere hope that you will join in and share your sunshine again and again.
