Share Your Cup Thursday #78

Hello my friends and welcome to Share Your Cup (SYC).  Hope you are having a fabulous week!

This time of year we are all so busy, busy, busy with the holidays approaching.  Let’s not forget to take the time to enjoy the things that make us happy, happy, happy!

Share Your Cup is the party where you come to share just that.  The things in life that make you happy.  In other words, that help to ‘fill your cup’.

I learned a long time ago that we need to make our own happiness and not depend on others to do it for us.

Once we are happy it’s much easier for us to help make others happy.  By sharing at SYC you are bringing happiness to others.

Here’s what caught my eye from last weeks SYC:

We have another fabulous kitchen redo by Sally from Salmagundi.  I think this time of year gets us all in the mood to fix up.  I know that it has me.  Wanting to repaint my sewing room.

Connie from Hil lHouse Homestead showed us how she made vintage looking rugs out of old sheets.  Don’t crochet?  Even the wound balls look cute!

Just look at these gorgeous and vibrant Fall blooms Patti from Old Things New  gathered from her garden.

Love the color of this dresser redo by Susie from Dorothy Sue and Millie B Too.  Guess what the name of the color is, happy camper.  Is that not the best?

Simply Suzannes shared a beautiful Fall dinner.  This has got me wanting to try roasted brussel sprouts.

Debbie Dabble really outdid herself on this fabulous ‘Nevermore’ table for her church’s annual Harvest Tea.

Hee-hee, Witches Tea. . .

Today was a lazy kind of day.  You know the kind where you just take it easy in the morning as if you didn’t have a care in the world.

As I began to think out what I might do throughout the day the list started to increase.  Sew on my quilt, mow the lawn, work on a Thanksgiving banner. etc., etc..

  Just wondering, do you do that?  Make a mental list daily?  I do.  But no worries if it doesn’t happen.  Just a phone call from a friend can change my plans in an instant.  lol!

Today it wasn’t a phone call, it was a knock at the door.

Much to my surprise it was Gertrude, Witch Hilde’s cousin.  She was out for a test ride on her new broom.  A super fast model I might add.

How could I not see that she had dropped in for a spot of tea?

I pulled out this little topper that I just finished.  Almost embarrassed to admit that I started it about 10 years ago.  Yes, I made the witches, put it up and didn’t finish it till now.  Can I get a hallelujah?

I urged her to park her broom next to my Nevermore cabinet.  See it there on the right?  Isn’t it a beauty?

I knew she had come dressed for tea.  In her Halloween finest.  A beautiful coffee filter bow on her hat along with glittery tuelle, pom-poms, and her spider friend.

it was adorned with scrabble words and tags of some of her favorite things.

Three pretty flowers were clipped to her flouncy skirt.

When she turned just right her skirt lifted and I spied this cute newspaper underskirt embellished with glitter.

Let’s light the candles to create a cozy atmosphere.

and pull out white teacups for this polka-dot tea.

If you ask me, polka-dots are wicked fun.  I  just love them!

Before she left we took a moment to thumb through our ‘Witches Travel Guide’.

We talked about why we love Halloween.

And studied some of our potions and elixirs

We reminisced about last years convention,

and marked the calendar for this important date!

Hee-hee, you see even witches love tea!

Family Halloween fun!

Oh what a night of pre Halloween fun !

Last night anticipation was high as grandpa and I awaited the arrival of family for our Halloween party.

One never knows what might come walking through that door!

It might be a gorilla.

Or maybe just a sweet little ‘Williphant’.

It could be a scary monster. . .

or a pretty pink butterfly.

Some might be as sweet as an Ariel Mermaid or a helpful firefighter.

While others might have you worrying about whether or not you could be on the menu.  Can’t believe I didn’t get a whole picture of this ‘killer chef’.

Some were just ‘purr’fect. . .

And some made you laugh!

We even had a few out of towners and celebs show up. . .

Like this Geman fella, Katie Perry, Will and Phil.

There’s never any lack of tricks and treats.  Boo cupcakes, candy corn relish tray and dip in a pumpkin, deviled eggs (don’t worry the spiders are friendly), vampire fangs, and a bit of blood in case you are having a craving.

Spider topped sodas for the grands.

There was bubbly hot steak chili or Chicadilla soup

We also had a yummy salad and mini French dipped sandwiches.  Missed getting a pic.

Lots of activities for plenty of laughs.  We broke a piñata, wrapped our partners like mummies, had a cake walk, and created spooky spider luminaries.

Isn’t family fun the best?  Not only are we having a great time, we’re making memories!

Sleeping in a Pumpkin Patch.

Last night I fell asleep under the stars. . .

And woke up in a pumpkin patch.

The moon was shining brightly.

And I could hear the leaves rustling in the wind.

I listened carefully and I heard a little owl hooting softly in the background.

Still I slept cozy underneath my blanket of wool pumpkins and stars.

I just made the ticking pillowcases.  I could kick myself for not making them King size.  What was I thinking?  Obviously I wasn’t. lol!

The little wool pillows were made years ago.  (Although the tall one was just recently stuffed).  Thanks to my cousin.  She took it home and finished it for me.  They worked perfectly with my Fall quilt.

I shared this quilt last year when I made it, but thought I would share it again with the pillows.  I was able to use lots of my scrap pieces for this quilt.  Some of the wool was cut from old skirts of my cousins. 

I love touches of wool!  Just remember that if you use wool in a quilt (or any project that will be washed) to prewash the wool.  Other wise it will shrink..

Just wondering, would you like to sleep in a pumpkin patch?  Might be kind of fun!
