dancing in my head.  :)

You FLOORed me!

Hello my friends,

 

Many of you know that recently we got new hardwood flooring in our kitchen, family room, master bedroom, and sewing room.

 

We already had Engineered wood in our kitchen, which I loved.

 

I wanted to replace the carpet in our family room with wood and they were unable to match what I had so I had to get all new.

 

 

I chose chiseled walnut.  Even though I had seen it in a friends home, doing such a large area had me a bit worried.

 

We went to Colorado for a week while they installed it.

Honestly, I was afraid that the wood tone would clash with my cabinets.

 

I must admit that when I walked in I was floored!

 

It was everything I had hoped it would be.

 

I took a risk of ordering a rug on line from Birch Lane.  I chose one that I thought would blend with my throw pillows.  Again, when it arrived I was floored!

 

I think it matches perfectly!!

I stained the top of our table white, hoping for more of a farmhouse look.  I haven't done the chair seats yet, and I'm thinking I need to sand it more.

 

I am also pleased with how the lights and darks in the wood coordinate with my cabinets.

 

 

I'm still putting my sewing room back together. (I decided to paint my sewing table red) But, I'll show you a few pics of the bedroom.

 

 

The new flooring adds a richness to our bedroom.

 

I bought this faux fur rug at Home Goods.  It's like stepping out onto a soft cloud in the morning.  :)

It's hard to believe that we are already into November.  Although This Thanksgiving is what we call, 'our off year', the year when most of the kids go to their in-laws home, I am still looking forward to sitting down to a delicious turkey dinner!

 

I'm still getting my house put back together after the new wood flooring.  I decided to stain the top of my kitchen table white and now I am painting my sewing room table.

 

I was about to pull out my Thanksgiving décor the other day when I decided to just decorate the table and call it good.  I still have fall  out and it works just fine.  I must admit that I am missing my turkeys and pilgrims, but I shared my latest turkey find in

Turkey Talk. . .

Hello my friends,

 

A few months ago while scoping out the shelves in a thrift store a cute gobbler caught my eye.

 

 

The red lover in me oohed and aawed over all of his red lovliness!

 

He's even got a lovely back side.

 

 

 

 

 

I wasn't sure what I was going to put inside, but quickly decided to roll up some dishcloths that I had picked up at Walmart a while back.

 

The dishcloths coordinated with the colors in my quilt table topper.  I made it years ago.  It's a 'crazy' quilt made up of scraps.

 

 

I bought the turkey dishes last year at Home Goods.  I love how the Pioneer Woman aqua goblets pull out the touches of aqua.  That single shaker was another thrift find.  It was the only one, but I loved it's unique colors.  I planned on using him in a craft project.

 

I placed a small bowl on top.  The shade is a bit different than the plate, but I felt like it worked because of the topper.

 

One of my sweet craft friends, Karen gifted me with this reproduction galvanized chicken feeder for my birthday in July.

Another friend, Joyce gave me a bunch of gourds.  I filled the feeder and let a few tumble onto the table.  I added bits of the cornstalk tops here and there.

 

 

I bought the S&P shakers at an estate sale.  I have a few sets.  Just can't pass them up!  :)

I added a couple of gourd candles for a bit of ambiance.  I placed the green one in a mini trophy cup, another thrift find.

 

I recently stained the top of my table white, hoping to give it more of a farmhouse feel.  Not sure I love it.  Thinking maybe I should sand it more.



 

 

 

I haven't pulled out my two Thanksgiving boxes this year.  It's our off year and we'll only have a few for dinner.  I still have fall décor up and I'm thinking 'it'll do'.  But I must admit I am missing all of my turkeys.

All Hallows Eve

 

 

I hope you had a wonderful Halloween!  Hubby and I spent the night relaxing in between trick or treaters.  Let's just say we had a whole lot of ups and downs.  Good way to get your exercise in.  (wink)

All Hallow's Eve. . .

Hello my friends,

today, all Hallows Eve; my friend Ann took me to see a home in the Salt Lake area.

She had attended a Halloween party there on Saturday night and told me how every year this couple goes all out with their decorations. 

They pick a theme and carry it to the max.

This years theme was, Desolation Station.

He built this entire train.

A couple of skellys are willing to take you for a ride!

I commented how I loved that his yard was filled with leaves.  He said that he gathers them from all of his neighbors.

He uses construction foam and black landscaping fabric and recreates the entire front of their home.

Be careful as we walk up to the front door that you don't get lost in the smoke, or eaten by one of the giant spiders!

He built the wooden walkway leading up to the house.

He invited us to step inside.

Oh my!  I'm feeling a bit mummified!!

Turn to the left and you enter the Saloon.  They actually lined the walls with the black landscaping fabric.  They also remove all of their furniture and store it in the garage for the month of Oct.

Belly up to the bar. . .

To the right is the dining room where they entertain.  They host 3 Halloween parties each year.

He built this fabulous table.

Again the walls were draped.  These giant spiders actually move a bit up and down the wall.

They had an amazing collection of clocks.  He said that they have more, but that he covered some of them up with the landscape fabric.

It was fun seeing his incredible work.

He was featured on channel 13 news yesterday.  They also showed some of the themes that he has decorated for in previous years.  I haven't seen it yet, but am going to go on line to see if I can watch it.  I hope you enjoyed seeing this fun Halloween house!
