Share Your Cup #194

Hello friends and welcome to Share Your Cup (SYC for short) - the party where you share things that make you happy.

It's what your hosts call "filling your cup".

This week it's Carol's turn to choose the features, but first, let's see what your hosts have been up to.

Jann is back from her Carolina vacation

and she shared her finds in Thrift Finds for a
Farmhouse Mantel.

Jo is feeling better and is busy sewing

In With the Old, Carol shared the changes in their guest room

and talked about the friendships made through social media in
It Takes a Village.

And now for the features ...

I love (and am coveting) all the whimsically colorful
Picnic Goodies shared by Nitka Design.

I was touched by the beauty and history of the beautiful post shared by Kitty of Kitty's Kozy Kitchen - the teacups were painted by her Great Aunt Kitty and the tablecloth was embroidered by Kitty's mother.

Amy of A Day of Small Things shared a beautiful post about passing up on big box knockoffs in search of pieces that have a history and tell a story.

Jacqueline of Purple Chocolate Home instilled great beauty and missed no detail in staging a birthday celebration friend.

Doreen of Altered Artworks rescued a little industrial chair from a warehouse sale and gave it a fun update.

Pat of French Country Style from the foot of the Rockies took us on a lovely tour of the south of France in How I Found My Style.

Thanks for sharing and don't forget to grab the button if you were featured.

Here's a quick reminder about the Garden Party -

Thrift Finds for a Farmhouse Mantle

Hello my friends, the other day I met up with a blog friend, Paula from Pollyanna Reinvents to borrow some of her vintage trophies.

I'm hosting a baby shower at my home on Tuesday and we're going with a theme of, "Our Little Champ".

When I contacted her she suggested that we meet at our local thrift.  Let's just say, she didn't have to twist my arm.  lol!

I didn't find any vintage treasures, but I found some fun items that inspired me to come home and create a farmhouse scene on our basement mantle.

The first thing I found were these two sweet plates.

I loved the checkered border and cute rooster image.

They called for me to add my rooster and hen S&P.  I found them at a thrift shop as well.

It certainly needed a red rooster.

I rounded the corner to the next isle in the thrift shop and spied this large white bowl.  It screamed to be paired up with the
 rooster plates.

I also found this wire egg basket.  Of course it was the red handles that caught my eye.    I tried filling it with wooden eggs, but it wouldn't stay open unless it was hanging.

So I just tucked it inside the white bowl and settled for my chippy red chicken basket instead.  I placed it on one of my vintage scales to add a bit of height.

For a little over $6 I found some fun things to create a simple
 'farmhouse mantle'.

Have you found any fun thrift finds lately?

hugs,
Jann

Share Your Cup Thursday #193

Hello my friends and welcome to Share Your Cup, (SYC for short).

The party where you share the things that make you happy.

It's what your hosts call, "filling your cup".

What a fabulous time I had in the Carolinas for the past two weeks.  Saw so many pretties, hiked a few hikes, attended both home and garden tours, and found some sweet finds, but I am happy to be home and spending time in my own garden!

It's my turn to pick features, but first let's see what your hosts have been up to.

Carol received the most gorgeous quilt from some Old Friends.

After an exhausting drive through Los Angeles she also shared her enjoyment for a Simple Sunday

Poor Jo hopped in for A Quick 'hi' because she and some of her family members have been struck with a terrible stomach flu.  Wishing them all a speedy recovery!!

I shared some of the fabulous doors in Charleston in

And a Double D Celebration of a Delicious Dutch themed dinner.

Before I share features, I have an exciting announcement to make.  Share Your Cup has been invited to participate in a Garden themed link party with the sweet gals from Thoughts of Home
It starts April 25th and will carry on once a month throughout the summer.  We look forward to you joining in and sharing your garden or floral posts!

Also, we would love it if you would place this button on your sidebar to spread the word!

Double D Celebration!

No my friends, I am not celebrating a bust enhancement, but rather a fabulous birthday celebration.  :)

I've mentioned before that I am a member of a craft group that celebrates each others birthdays with a delicious dinner.

That's the first D-delicious.
The second D comes in to play with the word D-Dutch.

Joanne is always the genius behind these gorgeous tablescapes.  She did it the first time and loved it so much that she continues to do it each time.

Karen planted the silver trays with the Dutch spring bulbs and wheat grass.

When I walked in and saw this gorgeous table I felt as though I was vacationing in Holland.

Joanne plans months ahead and brought the Dutch shoe planters back from a trip to Amsterdam last fall.

We each got to take one home.

Her gorgeous flo blue plates were layered with glass and assorted hand painted floral plates. They all sit atop a moss mat and
white chargers.

Laura was the birthday girl and a crown was waiting to adorn
 her head.

Jacqueline hosted the celebration in her beautiful home and served us up a yummy and pretty appetizer.

Natalie brought all of the fixins for refreshing Italian sodas.

I snapped a photo of the salad, which I provided but somehow missed getting one of the delicious eggplant parmesan made
by Brenda.

And of course, the cake.
Too pretty for words!!

(created by the amazing Amy)

The entire table was gorgeous and these last two photos were snapped at what Jackie called the 'blue hour'.

Oh what a Double D delightful night!

(Jackie, me, Karen, Joanne, Natalie, Brenda, Laura, Amy)

hugs,
Jann
