Hello my friends, the other day I met up with a blog friend, Paula from Pollyanna Reinvents to borrow some of her vintage trophies.
I'm hosting a baby shower at my home on Tuesday and we're going with a theme of, "Our Little Champ".
When I contacted her she suggested that we meet at our local thrift. Let's just say, she didn't have to twist my arm. lol!
I didn't find any vintage treasures, but I found some fun items that inspired me to come home and create a farmhouse scene on our basement mantle.
The first thing I found were these two sweet plates.
I loved the checkered border and cute rooster image.
They called for me to add my rooster and hen S&P. I found them at a thrift shop as well.
It certainly needed a red rooster.
I rounded the corner to the next isle in the thrift shop and spied this large white bowl. It screamed to be paired up with the
rooster plates.
I also found this wire egg basket. Of course it was the red handles that caught my eye. I tried filling it with wooden eggs, but it wouldn't stay open unless it was hanging.
So I just tucked it inside the white bowl and settled for my chippy red chicken basket instead. I placed it on one of my vintage scales to add a bit of height.
For a little over $6 I found some fun things to create a simple
'farmhouse mantle'.
Have you found any fun thrift finds lately?
hugs,
Jann

You do decorating so well!
I love anything with roosters and hens too, Jann. Your mantel looks terrific with all those wonderful finds. You have such a great eye for putting things together like that. How smart you are!
What fun you had, and so many, many goodies.

I love your big chunky mantel, and for just a few dollars you've got a great farmhouse look to decorate it! Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!
For a few dollars you've created such a cute mantle display, Jann!!!
Of course those dishes found you!
Cute mantle. I love the scale and all the things together.
This is so cute, Jann. Of course, the red would call to me too. Thrifting isn't something I do but I'd love to go with you to learn the ropes. :)
Wonderful chicken stuff! I have ten hens, one rooster, and all the fresh eggs I need. Love my babies. They're all pets and never have to worry about being on someone's plate. I tell folks that when we want to eat chicken, we buy strangers wrapped in plastic!
There is nothing more satisfying to me than finding a treasure at the flea market and incorporating it in my home.
We are kindred spirits!
Thank you so much for sharing this at Thoughts of Home on Thursday.
