Share Your Cup #265

Hello my friends, and welcome to Share Your Cup,
the party where you share what makes you happy.

It's what I call "filling your cup".

I hope you are all having a wonderful week!  We are having the most beautiful weather here lately.  Finally feeling very fall like.

I have had a bad bout with infection for the past week and a half.
I ended up having to go to the hospital and getting an antibiotic through an I.V. twice a day.

This morning they told me that I only need to come once a day now.  Yahoo!!  I wanted to stand up and do a cheer.  Not only that, but I'm feeling half human again.  :)

Sorry, to say; but because of this I was not able to visit links and there will be no features this week.  :(

 Now let's party!

An Apple a Day Keeps the Dr. Away. . .

Hello my friends,
I'm sure many of you are familiar with the old saying, "An apple a day keeps the Doctor away".

Well, if that's the case, I have not been eating nearly enough apples.  (wink)

Still, once fall rolls around I've got to have a bowl full in my house.

Nothing quite like biting into a crunchy, juicy apple!!

Thinking I should have oiled them for their photo shoot.  :)

I placed them in this sweet $4 Sunflower Pyrex bowl I picked up at a thrift shop a couple years ago.  Two small plates with sunflowers in the center was propped behind.  One of my scales helps to add some elevation to the vignette.  Notice the cute little sunflower S&P shakers?  I got them at an estate sale.  I thought they were so tiny and sweet!

The orange creamer was another thrift find.  I loved the diamond design.  Thinking I need to fill it with some acorns.

But you know the fun couldn't stop there.
Did your mom ever tell you, "to stop playing with your food and just eat"?  I don't remember being told that, but not only do I play with my food, I play with my dishes as well.  lol!

I have such a sweet tooth and as soon as it feels a bit like fall I get craving Apple Crisp.  It's one of my favorite fall time desserts.

I have the complete set of four of these green Pyrex bowls called, Verde.  Another great thrift bargain.  My friends from one of the clubs that I am a member of gifted me with the darling dishtowel after my surgery.

Well, enough with playing, I'm going to eat that Apple Crisp!!

Here's the recipe just in case you get a hankerin for some too.

Apple Crisp

8-10 apples  (any variety.  I often mix, using what I have)

Top Crust:
1 c. brown sugar            1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt                1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. oats                1/2 cup margarine or butter
Mix together till crumbly I use a pastry blender.

Place peeled, sliced apples in a buttered 9x13 pan.
Top with crumb mixture and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 min. at 350 degrees.

hugs,
Jann

It's No Picnic. . .

Lying in bed all day is no picnic. . .

SO,

of course, I just can't do it!!  :)  Luckily, the Dr's agree that getting up and moving is some of the best medicine.

Of course, finding a happy medium of not overdoing is always a challenge.  I listen to my body, and know when enough is enough!

I'm moving at a snail's pace, but am getting things done.

I have always loved picnic tins, and have collected a nice stack over the years.

I brought a few of them upstairs for my fall d├ęcor.

I placed a handmade crochet cloth on the middle of my table and scrunched it up.  I placed two of my picnic tins in the middle and filled the top one with a few maize colored plates.  I picked 8 of them up at a thrift shop last year.

While vacationing in CA in June I found the cute small thermos for $2 at a thrift store along the way.

This jar came from the estate I have been helping with.  I put it out for two sales and it didn't sale.  I loved it and decided that I was meant to buy it.  ;) I filled it with, not pretzels; but faux pumpkins.

I've kept my decorating pretty simple this year.  Remember, I don't want to overdo!  lol!

A couple of days later I ran across this little flash card of kids raking leaves and added it to one of my floral frogs.

Here's a couple of other picnic tins I've used.

This one is a reproduction that I bought while vacationing in New England fall of 2015.

I've used it in my family room mantle display.

This sweet pumpkin was made by a blog friend, Fran from

Some days I feel a bit like this mouse looks.  (wink)

But then I realize how blessed I am and just like this beauty, life begins to shine!

Yup, some times life is no picnic, but we have to look for the silver lining!!

hugs,
Jann

Share Your Cup #263

Hello my friends,
welcome to Share Your Cup, (SYC for short).

The party where you share what makes you happy.

It's what I like to call, "filling your cup"

My cup runneth over with gratitude for all of the love, well wishes, and prayers that have been said in my behalf.

My hubby, family, and friends have been amazing!!

I am doing quite well.  I take it one day at a time and am pacing myself.  something that is not easy for this old gal.  lol!  I can not lay in that bed non stop so now and then I get up and do a little fall decorating.  I only undertake one task at a time.  First my kitchen table, then a mantle, and now two mantles.  Feels good to be up moving around, even if it's just a little.

They have not removed my drains yet.  I will be doing a big 'happy dance' the day that happens!!

There is so much tragedy going on right now with hurricanes and fires.  I am praying for all of you!  Been thinking a lot of my Texas and Florida friends.

I have not been on my laptop and have loved staying connected with many of you through fb and Instagram.  It will feel good to be back visiting!  Can't wait to see what you have all been up to!
