Looking Back at '2017'. . .

Hello my friends,
soon we will be bidding farewell to another year.
I'm sure that most of you know that '2017' has been filled with many ups and downs for my family!
Still, looking back I feel very blessed and am ever so thankful!
Each year at this time I like to glance back through my posts and see which ones got the most views.  I am sharing the most popular post for each month.  It's interesting that the ones that get the most views do not always get the most comments.  :)

In January we warmed up with

Ringing in the New Year!

Hello my friends,
do you have plans to help 'RING' in the New Year?
We will be having dinner and playing games at our home with some of our friends.
I have been putting my Christmas décor away and I wanted to decorate my mantle for the new year.
I was tidying my craft room the other day when I came across this 'Jack and Jill' kids magazine.

It's one that I saved from the estate sale I helped host,
to give to my sister, Jeanne.
"1952" is the year she was born.  It became the inspiration for my mantle theme.  :)
Oh yes, I will gift it to her. . .but I'm sure she won't mind if I borrow it for a while.

Share Your Cup #277

Hello and welcome to Share Your Cup, (SYC for short).
The party where you share what makes you happy.

It's what I call, "filling your cup"

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday!  Ours was truly delightful and I am looking forward to a New Year.

As many of you know, the past 6 months have been filled with ups and downs for our family.  As I reflect back, I can see that the blessings definitely outweigh the trials and strife!

Share Your Cup #275

Hello and welcome to Share Your Cup, (SYC for short).
The party where you share what makes you happy.

Can you believe that Christmas is only a few days away?  We have had a very eventful week.  Happily, some of it was very good news, like the arrival of a new grandson on Sunday.

Our son, Dalan and his wife, Samantha just had their 4th boy.  He arrived a couple weeks earlier than expected.  He is an absolute little doll!  I have had a terrible cold so I have not been able to love on him yet.  Can't wait to smooch that sweet face!

Last week was the kick off of our 'Creating Christmas' link party.

The party stays open until Christmas Eve, so please continue to link up.  I have loved seeing what you have had to share!

I shared my:

Some of the things that I have made over the years for

 I also shared my

and how I found that I had a bit of
Scandinavian Flair in some of my Christmas décor.

All of these posts were shared for our 'Creating Christmas' party.

I'd like to take a moment to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas!

 Now let's party!
1.  I would love for you to be a follower of Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson
2.  Link up a particular post and not your entire blog. Please limit your links to no more than three.
3.  Please have a back link to this post.  That way others will know where the party is.
Only those with a back link will be featured.
 4.  Please find time to visit at least two other participants.
It's a great way to find new friends!

After you link up, please come back and leave a comment.  They help to fill my cup!

A Little Scandinavian flair. . .. .

Hello my friends and welcome to the final day of our
'Creating Christmas' link party.
Katie from Let's Add Sprinkles will be taking us on a visual trip where we will be experiencing the Nordic style of decorating.

Hop on over and link up anything with a Nordic feel.
I admit that when Katie suggested this for her title I thought it was a fabulous idea.  However, I didn't think I would have anything that I could share.
Well I'll be darned if I wasn't wrong. . .that doesn't happen very often!  (wink)
Before I begin, just what is considered Nordic?
Here's what I found on the web.

A Dish Addicts Christmas. . .

>Hello my friends,
today is my turn to host our 'Creating Christmas"
 link party.

So let's see what you dish addicts have to share!

Link up your favorite Christmas dishes, tablescapes, and even a favorite dish you like to make.

Just a little reminder that there will be no SYC this week.  It will return on Dec. 20th.
I have been counting the days until it was my turn.  Well, to be honest; I'm lucky to have a post ready.  It has been a trying day.  We laid our little grand babe to rest with a very nice graveside service.  A luncheon was held at our home afterwards.
and
On top of that I am sicker than a dog!  lol!  That saying always makes me laugh.  How on earth can we ever tell how sick a dog really is?
Anyway, my head is pounding as I type. . .but, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!  :)

A Little Bit Rustic. . .A Little bit Romantic Santa Mantle

>Hello my friends,
welcome to Day 3 of 'Creating Christmas' link party.

Today Cecilia
will show us how rustic and romantic go hand in hand.

Hop over and link your rustic and romantic posts on her blog.

I looked around to see what I might share that had a bit of a rustic feel, with a touch of romance.  I decided that my Santa mantle filled the bill.

The $5 scale I scored at a thrift shop in CA. . .rustic.
The glitter houses from T.J. Maxx. . .romantic.

I can't decide whether this sweet deer frolicking in the forest is rustic or romantic.  Maybe a little bit of both?

Shiny Brites strung on a piece of jute as a garland. . .definitely romantic!  :)

My chippy red and aqua stool is a little rustic, but somehow the colors and chippiness carry it over into romantic for me.

This photo has a touch of mystical romance, if you ask me.

My giant ever so glittery Santa definitely leans towards the romantic side.

It's hard to tell just how glittery he is in photos.

Whether it's rustic or romantic, it makes our Christmas home feel warm and cozy.

Especially when the fire is blazing!

Here's a closer look at my sweet pinecone elves on the hearth.  They are one of my favorite vintage Christmas collections.  I just love their sweet faces! Buried under that sprinkling of snow, is another rustic scale.

My cute deer with her fabulous fur collar leaves us with a touch of romance.

Rustic and Romantic a match made in heaven!

Remember that the linky party will remain open until Dec. 24th.

Continue to link up your 'Shabby Christmas' over at

and your 'Handmade Christmas' at

Tomorrow I will be sharing my love for dishes in
'A Dish Addicts Christmas'

Hope you will link up and share.  I know there are plenty of dish addicts out there, like me!

Merry Christmas,
Jann

A Homemade Christmas

Hello my friends and welcome to day 2 of
"Creating Christmas"
Today we will be linking up our 'Homemade Christmas' over at Carol's Art and Sand
Carol is always whipping up something fabulous.  Whether it be her wire creations, sweet hearts, etc.  Her hands are never idol!
I know that many of you are like me and just have the need to 'create'  :)
I have always been a tinkerer.  Playing around with vintage items is one of my favorite things to do.
Last year I created this Christmas scene on a large tart tin glued to a candlestick base.

I love using little trinkets and old tins!

And Santa mugs seem to be the perfect vessel for a
bottle brush tree.

I often find myself picking up tacky old greenery and picks at thrift stores.  Just something about them take me back in time.  This little basket took all but a few minutes to create.

I've shared my Ornament Tree that I made this year a lot.  Thought I'd share the wreath I made last year.

I love pretty fabrics and enjoy seeing them come together in a quilt.  This is actually the back side.  The front is squares of all different red and white fabrics.  I love dots and it worked perfectly with my dotty garland hanging on our staircase.

I've shared this quilt a lot.  I made it about 10 years ago.  I adore red work embroidery.

This stocking quilt is very warm and cozy.  Perfect for wrapping up in on a cold winters night.

This is a small table topper in the 'crazy quilt' pattern.  I love the fabrics!

I love paper as much as I love fabric!  Although, I don't work with it nearly as much as I use to.

Last year two friends and my sister in law swapped pages to make a fun Christmas photo album.

I've added some photos, but continue to add more.  This is one of my favorite photos of our granddaughter, Taylor.  She is 18 now.

Jordyn is 16 now, but never too old to sit on Santas lap.  (wink)

I love creating gifts for my friends.

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the things that I love creating.
Everything is always better when it's homemade!

What's your favorite thing to make?

Remember that you can still link up your 'Shabby Christmas' over at Debby's blog Debby Goes Shabby

and tomorrow we will be linking our 'Rustic and Romantic Christmas' with Cecilia at  My Thrift Store Addiction

All links will remain open until December 24th, so please keep those posts coming!

Merry Christmas!
Jann

Loving Me a Shabby Christmas. . .

>Hello my friends, today is the first day of our Creating Christmas link party.

Who doesn't love a 'Shabby Christmas'?  Even if you don't do shabby, I think you'll agree that it is ever so fun to look at.

No one does shabby quite as wonderful as Debby from
Debby Goes Shabby

Hop on over and link your shabby Christmas on her blog.

Most of my shabby décor is in my living room, so that's what I will be sharing with you today.

I bought this bottle brush wreath at Glitterfest, an art festival in California I attended last year.

I had the little white and aqua mercury glass tree for 5 or so years, a couple of years ago I found the large one to match at our local thrift.  I've placed the small one inside the wreath and sat them on top of an antique wooden wheel I bought in Napa, CA last June.

One of my favorite things in my living room is this chippy table.  I think that chippy just adds to the beauty and carries it over to shabby.

I bought this Santos doll bust in St. George, UT last spring.  My friends all that she was hideous, but I love her.  :)  Like they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

I added the golden tree tag around her neck for Christmas.  Vintage books are my favorite things to use for elevation.  I never pass up an aqua colored book.  (wink)  The bead garland is very old.  Love just letting it lie around.

This pink cabinet sets on the center of the table.  It's hard to photograph because of the glass.  This year it houses my angel collection.  Notice, more books?

The middle shelf of the cupboard.  I love the little bird planter!

I bought this green shabby door at a vintage sale for $40 quite a few years ago.  I still love it!  The aqua bells are a very old garland as well.  I can never pass up an old garland.  Often I have more than I know what to do with, but I can't get rid of them.

My friend, Joanne had such an amazing collection of vintage mirrors.  After seeing hers I picked up these three.  I bought the old corbel in South Carolina and the trio of trees were picked up at a damaged goods store this year.

I absolutely love the colors of these $1 bottle brush trees from Target!

It's obvious that I have a thing for doors.  :)  This one stands next to my mantle.  I bought it at R.C. Willey's 8 years ago.

This sweet champagne colored tree is new this year.  I walked into Hobby Lobby one day after Christmas last year.  It was on their display.  It was the only one they had left and had marked it down to $15.  It was originally $70.  I couldn't resist!

Notice the little elf on the shelf?  He doesn't really go there.  My granddaughter, Paityn and I are taking turns hiding him from each other.  I hid him there 5 days ago.  She just found him last night.

Do you remember this laundry cart that I turned around for in Napa?  It was perfect for my new tree!

Here it is all lit up at night.

I have lots of ornaments on this tree that I love.  Years ago I had a pink and green tree.  Most of them are from then.  My friend, Peggy gave me three of these pink Santas.  The sweet little pink macaroon was made and sent to me by none other than Debby Goes Shabby.  Love them!

Some shabby finds only cost $1.  Like this Santa I picked up last Friday.  I figured the postcard alone was worth that.

A bit of shabby love added to the glass doorknob of the cupboard housing my red dishes.  Dried roses, a clock, and glittery bell.

When I think of shabby I think of bits of lace.  It's hard to see with some of my Christmas cards attached, but I covered a wire shade with laces and twill for this old floor lamp.

I love the tan color of Hydrangeas drying on my Limelight Tree naturally.  I get buckets full every fall.

I am looking forward to seeing your 'Shabby Christmas'!

Remember to link up your 'Handmade Christmas' over at Carol's
Art and Sand  Tomorrow, Tues. Dec. 12th.

All parties will remain open until Dec. 24h,, so continue to link up until then.

Merry Christmas!
Jann
