Hello my friends and welcome to the final day of our
'Creating Christmas' link party.
Katie from Let's Add Sprinkles will be taking us on a visual trip where we will be experiencing the Nordic style of decorating.
Hop on over and link up anything with a Nordic feel.
Hop on over and link up anything with a Nordic feel.
I admit that when Katie suggested this for her title I thought it was a fabulous idea. However, I didn't think I would have anything that I could share.
Well I'll be darned if I wasn't wrong. . .that doesn't happen very often! (wink)
Before I begin, just what is considered Nordic?
NORDIC
ADJECTIVE
of or relating to Scandinavia, Finland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands.
- relating to or denoting a physical type of northern European peoples characterized by tall stature, a bony frame, light coloring, and a dolichocephalic head.
- skiingrelating to or denoting the disciplines of cross-country skiing or ski jumping. Often contrasted with alpine.
You know how sometimes things are just meant to be? Last Friday after our quilt guild luncheon three of us decided to hit the local thrift shop.
My friend, Amanda found two metal discs that hung on the wall. She didn't want them so she gave them to Rae Ann, who was next to her at the time.
I saw them in Rae Ann's cart and swooned. She was kind enough to let me have one.
Now doesn't it have a Scandinavian feel? I love the deer as well as the design around the edge.
And then there's display set up in a small area just before you walk into our master bedroom.
Something about it felt very Scandinavian to me. I don't know if it's the wooden tree or what. Look at the sweet face on that elf! He was gifted to me years ago by a dear friend.
And then there's the vintage ski's propped against the pillar in our entryway. It even mentioned skiing in the definition.
I also think the Santa photo looks like a Scandinavian Santa.
I also think the Santa photo looks like a Scandinavian Santa.
The sun was shining in on this picture, but you'll never find me complaining about sunshine!
And where there is skiing. . .there's sure to be someone wearing snowshoes.
I wonder if they have plaid foxes in them there woods?
Do you think those Scandinavians hang stockings on their doorknobs? This thrift find was originally sold at Old Navy.
Wooden sleds, plaid blankets, deer and thermoses all have a Nordic feel to me.
See the little tree hanging on my red trimmed enamel pan? Reminds me of a Norwegian sweater.
These paper trees made me think of Nordic style as well. I may be way off base here, but just telling it like it feels.
I recently bought this pair of mittens. Yes, I wear them; tassels and all. . .but when they aren't being worn,
They reside here. At least for a little while. I love enamelware!
I'd be traveling in style with this plaid suitcase. Oh how fun would it be to go to a Nordic country!
The suitcase and plaid lined basket are both thrift finds.
And last of all, this Santa gifted to me by another friend a long time ago makes me think Scandinavian.
He's one of my favorites!
I think it's the hearts hanging on the branches that I love so much.
He's found a home in our guest bathroom.
I hope you enjoyed a peek of what I consider to be a bit of Scandinavian (Nordic) style.
Just a reminder that the link party will stay open until Dec. 24th.

I forgot to say that I really love that adorable fox!
Much more Scandi than you thought! (I realized when I saw this post, I do, too!) Isn't it fun to get those halls decked. It's really very beautiful.
On another note, holding you close to my heart.
Everything is darling! My father in law was from Norway and I bet he would feel right at home there!
Of course you have stuff to share for a Scandinavian Christmas!! And everything you showed is exactly what I think of for that style. My dream is to someday go to one of those fabulous countries and see that cozy style in person.
All of your vignettes are darling, what fun to find so many Nordic treasures in all your decor! I always enjoy seeing the fun finds you get at thrift stores too! Sounds like you have some great gals to shop with too :) Hugs to you today!
