What’s In Your Cabinet?

If you have a dish fetish like I do then you will probably be excited about this party.

Oh, I have so many cupboards full of dishes, but I thought I would share my favorite little cabinet.  I’m sure that many of you have seen it before.

But today I am going to share it a little more up close and personal.  I found her years ago at a small gift shop in a nearby town.  The shop has since closed.

Before we get to the inside, I want to list three things that I love about this little cupboard.

1.  The door is made from an old window.

2.  She has layers of white and green paint.

3.  She has the cutest metal plate and glass door knob.

Now for a peek inside. . .

A small pitcher and an assortment of red glasses.  A couple more bowls, one being hobnail which I love!

The bottom shelf holds a trifle bowl, a mini pitcher, one candle holder, a cruet,  jelly jar, S&P, stemmed glasses, plates, and a dinner bell.

This collection started three years ago while vacationing in Virginia.  I spied it in a quaint shop on a scenic byway.

When I picked up the round Avon pitcher is was priced $100. The cruet was $17 and, you get the jiff. I put it back on the shelf and we left.  About 10 miles down the road I told my hubby that I wished I had bought at least one piece.  He said, “I will go back if you really want me to”.  How could I resist?  We went back into the store and I walked (almost ran) over to decide which piece I wanted.  The store keeper came over and said, “that’s been here a while, if you want it I’ll give it all to you for $100.

I swear I heard angels singing right then and there.  I did lose one large bowl on the flight home.  Ever since then I have picked up any red that I find at estate or thrift sales.  I even bought a set of 60’s red hobnail dishes and two large bowls. They had to go in the kitchen because the little cabinet is full.

I am no longer buying red.  As you can see, no room in the inn. lol!

However, I would buy red large plates if I ever ran across them.

I pull these out at Christmas and Valentines.  They make for a fun tablescape.

Here is one I did last year using them.

As you can see, I used my wild bird plates.  No red dinner plates.

Hard to think of Christmas when it’s barely Oct.  But oh baby, it’ll be here before we know it.
