Hi-Ho Cherry O!

Hi Ho my friends!  Where or where did June go?  This month has literally flown by.

I can’t let it slip away without sharing one of the things that comes to my mind when I think of June. (Along with my sweet mother’s birthday who was named after the month).

June signifies ‘cherry pickin’.  As a teen I had a job pickin cherries.  I loved climbing to the top of the tree and getting the ‘cream of the crop’.

I’ve been pickin cherries ever since.

I use to display them during the month of June, but now they have found a permanent home in our basement farmhouse kitchen.



I pick cherry dishes.
















And cherry décor.







I pick cherry fabric and turn it into pretty things.





Cherries have even found their way into the playhouse under the stairs.






I recently was gifted this cherry item from a neighbor.  I’ve picked quite a few cherry items for my sister.  I’m running out of room, but can’t bear to leave one cherry behind. lol!



All that cherry picking tuckered me right out.  So I had to stop and eat a few that I had picked at a local fruit stand on Sat.



Just look at the size of those sweet things!



When it comes to cherries, you can pick as many as you would like.  When it comes to eating them. . .pace yourselves my friends!  lol!

Now I have a question for you ‘much more savvy bloggers’.  The other day Pinterest suggested 6 cherry themed boards for me to follow.  They were all so dang cute that I followed all 6.  Now my question is, “Once you follow a board, how do you ever see it again?”  Yes, I am a Pinterest dummy!

I know that there are a lot of cherry pickers out there.  Are you one of them?  if so, ‘Happy Pickins’!

Sweet Tweets

It’s no secret that I love birds.  I have been picking bird themed items up for over six years and have them in vignettes strung throughout my home.

The majority of them are in my kitchen, bedroom, and master bath.

I have curtains made out of bird fabric in my kitchen.  So you’ll find plenty of birds there.

So is it any wonder that I swooned when strolling down the clearance isles at Hobby Lobby when I came across this?

How sweet is this tweet?  Landing on a bed or roses.

I love the crazy patchwork look!

I even had a cute pillow to tuck in the back of the chair.

It’s found a new home in my bedroom next to the fireplace.

I always check the clearance section at Hobby Lobby.  I’ve found great items there.  I will tell you that I think their original prices are quite high.  This baby would have set me back $600 if I had bought it not on clearance.

Wouldn’t have happened, but for $200 she was coming home with me!  In case your interested they have a sofa to match.  Didn’t check the clearance price, but my friend said that the original price was $900.

Long May She Wave!

Hi friends, today I am sharing some red, white, and blue.


O! say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming,
And the Rockets red glare, the Bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our Flag was still there:
O! Say, does that star-spangled Banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen, through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence repose,
What is that, which the breeze o'er the towering sleep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream,
'Tis the star-spangled banner. O! long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps'pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our Trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
