A Beautiful Mess

Hello my friends,  just wondering; what kind of a crafter are you?

Do you keep everything neat and tidy or are you like me and create a beautiful mess?

On the 16th I am going to be selling at a local  sale called fleology with my friend, Joanne.

Although we will be selling vintage items, we want to have a few handmade things with a vintage feel included in our booth.

So last Saturday I headed to my craft room for some fun.

I had a stack of assorted tart/jello tins that were calling my name.  :)

When I began my craft table looked like this.

Using some Valentine cards or images I copied from a couple of books I have my little tart tins began to take form.

I added touches of glitter and a few vintage treasures that I had on hand like the little red mushroom.

This sweet swan is Lenox and he seemed more than happy to hold a variety of hearts.

I made a few more tins, but missed getting a photo.

I also made a few 'spoolies' using old wooden spools.

By the time I was finished I barely had a clear spot on my table.

Talk about surrounding yourself with the things you love.  lol!

Sometimes it gets so bad that I have to stop in the middle and clean up before I can create more.  :)

Now comes the hard part, figuring out how much to sell them for.

So, what are you?
Neat and tidy, or do you surround yourself with a beautiful mess?

hugs,
Jann

A BIG thank you to the gals at Vintage Charm for making this post their choice for January feature of the month.

Those are darling and I hope you do well. There is a booth at a flea market we go to that resells clothes and they call themselves Resalecology. I think your pieces will do well mixed with vintage.

Jann, I love this post and that is exactly how I craft. I have to stop and clear things in order to finish too, and my table looks like your beautiful mess! It goes together with being creative. Your Valentine tart pans are wonderful! Love your sweet spoolies too. Bet you sell them all! Shows are lots of work, but fun too. Report back please. :)

I have always considered myself a very tidy crafter, however, when I created my last pocket letter, I realized that I am very messy! I had to giggle at myself, I was having so much fun that I didn't even care what kind of mess I made! I suppose I really am a beautifully messy crafter and That is just fine with me. Love your Valentine themed pretties! Blessings, Cindy

My messes are never beautiful, but I guess I could stretch the truth to say the messes create inspiration. I cannot decide if I like the spoolies or the tins better. I love the vintage vibe and I am sure they will be big sellers.

My sewing room always looks as if a bomb has been detonated during and after a making session. I don't believe there is anyone who is tidy whilst creating.....is there?? Those tins are adorable, as are the spools. One could look at them forever and still discover pretty things. I can't imagine these sitting in your booth for long; everyone will be clamouring for them. I love the name Fleology....terrific name.

Oh Jann, I love your creations! So beautiful, so unique!

I'm a messy crafter too, although I try to stay neat, it never happens that way.

Jann, It looks as though you were in a crafting frenzy..LOL. But wow it was worth it. Everything you made is so cute. I try to clean as I go but at times I just clean when it's all done. :):) Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie

Your creations are so cute, Jann. I guess it depends on what I'm crafting, whether it's a mess or tidy. I usually don't like clutter. Drives me crazy! Hope you do well in your booth and thanks for sharing.

Blessings,
Sandi

These are so cute Jann! You make some really sweet craft ideas. I'm not a crafter at all - no patience for small things. LOL I think they'll sell fast!

I'm clean and tidy -- often cleaning up during the process. However, I know that it stifles my creativity. Good for you as your creations are wonderful. Sally

That was fun reading and admiring your art. If I was shopping at your booth, I would be buying one of your tarts art. LOVE them...

Those are so adorable. Good luck with your sew.

As to my creative space - CHAOS would describe it. And I hate that. Our house is ALWAYS neat (maybe not always clean), but my craft space is the garage workbench. I work on something and then Steve puts garage items on top of my mess. My goal this winter is to organize things neatly into several different work areas.

Jann,
Pretty much the same as you, dear friend!!!
I start out neat. . .but then it takes a lot of product to design!!!
However, once I clean it all up. . .I'm ready to begin again!!!
Those vintage treasures within the tins are adorable!!!
Fondly,
Pat

Wow! Those are fabulous! I have some of those little tins but never in my wildest imagination would I come up with such cuties. I would definitely buy one or two if I were at your show. I am a very messy crafter and it drives me crazy to have to leave it all out if I run out of time to finish, but I do! The kitchen island can have a mess for days!

These are so cute and creative and I know you're going to sell out! I'm a little bit of both, usually neat inside, but my garage is a complete mess! Thanks for sharing at Talk of the Town.

Hi Jann, you and Joanne are going to do so well. I love your sweet Valentine crafts. I have been in a mess for the last 3 weeks trying to get ready for my shop and I hate being in a mess, being that it is all over my house which is pretty small.
Have a wonderful week! xx Jo

Jann your Valentine creations are beautiful! I babysit a young granddaughter most every weekday, so my crafting is now play dough and water color paints--lol! I have a large collection of rubber stamps and someday I hope my granddaughter will enjoy crafting with them with me.

I must say I a the mess maker. You should see (or perhaps not see) my dining table right now! It is a mix of Christmas decor, Cricut machines and wood burning equipment. Awful, just awful!

I see your inquiry led to a lot of responses! I fall into the messy category myself. I live in a one-bedroom apartment and, by nature and necessity, enjoy having everything organized and hidden away, but when the urge to create is upon me, Katie bar the door! I just grit my teeth and live with it until I can't stand it any longer and then tidy up...until the next time. Cute things and lots of ideas. Thanks for sharing.

Oh what sweet lovelies....so sweet. I craft the same way. I have to have everything neat and tidy before I start and then I look up and stuff is EVERYWHERE....sometimes in the rocking chair and the floor. When I run out of space, I have to reorganize a bit but you can't use what you can't see right? Would you mind if I use your tart tin idea for a few valentines for place settings for a dinner party?

Winnie said...

As usual - everything looks so sweet and beautiful!
I'm more of the tidy type, but I'm not sure I'd call this a mess, but different and sweet!!

Your creations are just adorable, Jann! Pricing is always the hardest part of selling the things you create, so I wish you luck in that arena. I'm like you, I make a huge mess when I'm in the middle of the creative process. I hope the sale is a big success and most of all I hope you have fun, which I know you will. :o)

Jann, your valentine creations are adorable. I wish I were close by to shop your fun event.
Your ideas are great, and as far as the craft table, I think one needs to have a bit of a mess to be creative.

Hi Jann! I just wanted to pop in and congratulate you on your beautiful mess! They're all so full of charm, and vintage charm thought well enough to [deservedly!] call them a monthly pick at their party - yay! I hope you do well at Fleology with Jo, but no doubt you'll have a great time regardless of what sales are - have fun!
