Morning Delight. . .

NO, I am  not talking about that S word.  It’s a different S word. hee-hee!

When I went out to mow the lawn this morning I saw something that gave me such delight.

This beautiful sunny sunflower smiling down at me.

There were two that were really big.  One was upright and one hung upside down.

I just kept snapping pics.  I couldn’t get enough of them.

Notice how that huge wind we had about a week ago has almost uprooted this one?

I will probably pull it out and use the head for my Fall décor.

The best thing about these sunflowers. . .

They were free!  This one seeded here from the house next door.

It is vacant.  In May I noticed that a few sunflowers that the neighbors (The Langham’s that had rented the house) had planted the year before had reseeded.

I knew that without water they would just die.

So I decided to bring them on over.

Wasn’t sure if they would make it, because it was quite warm.

What a nice surprise!  Thank you God, Mother Nature, and the Langham’s for my beautiful sunflowers.

They bring me such delight!

Hi Jann. Indeed these beauties give such smiles! I planted several in my garden a few years ago, and they were so fun. I did not plant any this summer, and wish now that I had. My feathered friends love the seeds too!!

Sunflowers just make you want to smile! We grew a whole field of them one year and used baskets and baskets of them for a Fall party. The following year I tried the same thing and the deer ate them all up before they even got 6" tall. :( Don't you just love volunteer plants? I will be delighted to share my seeds with you. When they have dried and are ready to ship I will get your address. xo

I adore Sunflowers! Love how they face the morning sun, then lifting there heads to follow the sun across the sky till night. A flower that for sure deserves adoration! Thats why I planted so many this year. I agree, they give me delight also. Can't waite to see your fall decor.

I love sunflowers, they are one of my favorite. They look like big happy faces. I had one come up from seed this year unexpectedly. Those unexpected things are such a nice surprise:)

Hi Jann,

Wow, they are beautiful! Such a sunny, happy yellow! Can't wait to see what you make of them for fall decor... Thank you for your gracious comments. My daughter had been collecting the hankies for a little while and decided to make something with them...she loves it!
Have a great weekend!
All the Best,
Christine

Sunflowers are so lovely. Volunteers feel special... like a garden fairy planted them just for the birds. Whether they are volunteers or 'on purpose' they are a delight and I love your pictures.

I love sunflowers! As a child I used to grow them for the fall fair but I never managed to get mine to grow that big!
