Road Trip. . . Day 1 and 2

Last week the hubby and I decided that we needed to get away for some serious R and R.

So we decided to take a Road Trip.

We debated between heading to Colorado or Northern Idaho.  Not sure why, but Idaho it is.

Really,  how relaxing can driving a long way be?  However I knew that we were in for some gorgeous scenery and just spending some time together is always a ‘good’ thing.

We headed out last Friday about one in the afternoon.  Ya know, had to mow the lawn first.

Our first stop was the beautiful Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls, Idaho.

001There we met some nice people from France who offered to snap a pic of the two of us.

005

After enjoying that breath taking view we headed towards the Sawtooth Mountains.

While traveling along the Sawtooth Scenic Byway we passed a large homestead.

No where to stop and take a pic, but the name of the ranch at the entrance was:  El Rancho Co$te Plente.

We got a good laugh out of that.  If you had seen how huge it was, I’m sure you’d agree.

That night we stayed in the darling town of Hailey.

Actually hit one yard sale before heading out of town the next morning.  I will show a picture of all my treasures on the last day.

Day Two:

We made it to the Sawtooth Mountains.  There we met a Jersey man.  Loved that accent!

He was a real camera man.  He snapped like 4 poses.  Although it was a bit smokey looking.

018

This is another view.  We snapped it as we were driving around the other side.  Still hazy, but I loved the cattle grazing in the foreground.

024

My hubby being the avid fisherman that he is, couldn’t pass up visiting the fish hatchery.

022

They had these fish painted along the trail showing you the way.  Boy, am I glad they did.  I’m sure we would’ve gotten lost without them.  Hee-hee!

019

After visiting there, I told my hubby that made me hungry for some fish.  Luckily, I just happen to have some in the car.

021

From there we traveled:

The Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway

The Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway

025

and, no that’s not all:   The Payette River Scenic Byway.

Four byways in two days.

I love gorgeous scenery, but let’s face it

that’s a whole lot of byways!!

So much so that it made me write a Country Western song about it.

Yes, we did just happen to be listening to Country music at the time.

Here goes:

Drivin along that scenic byway.

Takin life slow, just lettin go;

Doing it my way.

Makin the time to do what I wish.

Stoppin along the way to catch a fish.

Takin life slow, just lettin go;

Doin it my way.

Watchin the sun set and rise.

Lovin life, it’s no surprise.

Takin life slow, just lettin go;

Doin it my way.

On the river, floatin along;

Ridin the rapids, singin a song.

Takin life slow, just lettin go;

Doing it my way.

What do you think?  Now all I need is a Country Western singer to sing it.

I have no musical ability what so ever.

Hey, it may not win any awards, but I had to amuse myself some way.

Guess what?  I found another yard sale along one of those scenic byways.

Good excuse to stretch the legs.

If you think you can handle it, come back tomorrow night for some more.

Bye for now.  I think I’ll be traveling one of those scenic byways in my sleep.

Oh I love road trips! This one looks glorious. My last one was early January, in the snow and ice, to MICHIGAN of all places -- from our home in New Jersey (so yes, Jann, we do have winter! This year we had a LOT of winter!).

I had good reason for that road trip -- twin great nephews to visit for the first time.

Love your pictures, and good luck with your Rose of Sharon. I don't know how long they take to establish themselves; ours came with the house, and like most of our bushes and plantings were here probably since the Eisenhower administration.

All best wishes, Cass
PS Love the song -- as good as a LOT of what gets played!

I am so glad you had that Swedish fish with you,lol you are such a comedian. Love you so much! Your song is amazing, didn't know you had songwriting in you. My friend is talented beyond belief. I'm thinking about who we could send it to so they could turn it into a #1 hit.
