Best Witches!

I have mentioned the ‘Star Mill Antique Shop’ in a number of posts.
For the last two years they have featured a fun WITCH hat party.
They provide the hat and encourage patrons to decorate one and bring it back to their shop.
Last year I didn’t know about it until the hats were on display.  There were some amazing hats!  One’s that would make any WITCH proud to wear.
This is my hat.  It’s not fab, but I sure had fun doing it.

I’m calling it, “A few of Hilde’s Favorite Things”.

It has a coffee filter bow, a few golden pom-poms, and a bit of purple tulle tucked in.  Purple is Hilde’s favorite color.  No hat would be complete without a spider. The Scrabble letter pins hi-lite a few more of her fav’s.
The hat band is witchy green mesh with a few tags with keys and a skelly poison tag hanging down.

It looks right at home here on my crackly black stand wouldn’t you say?  I had to hide it from Hildegard because I knew she would want to keep it.

I am not sure what the Mill is going to do this year.  Last year you bid on the hats.  I was fortunate enough to get 5 of them for all the women in my family.  I didn’t pay over $10 for any of them.  I thought that was a great deal!
I put a number on each hat and hid them in my sewing room.  When the fam arrived for our annual Halloween party I had the women draw a number and go find the hat that had the same number on.  Everyone seemed to love the hat they got.
Here’s the family wishing you “BEST WITCHES

If you’re wondering what’s going on with the men, let me explain. You know how those men rarely dress up. Well, I went upstairs in the dress up closet and filled 6 sacks full of wild odds and ends.  Everything from hats to ties, to  masks, to suspenders, to jewelry, to fairy wands, and glasses.  Each woman picked a sack and had to dress their hubby in whatever was in it.  As you can tell they were all great sports.
What a fun time we had!
Till next time, hope you have fun deciding what costume you’ll be wearing this year.
Jann
p.s.  I will be turning my hat into the Mill on Thurs.  Later I will share other hats that were decorated.  You know there will be some Wonderfully Witchy ones!

Guess what?  My hat won first place and I received a $50 gift certificate to spend at the Mill.  Like that will be hard to do. lol!

I will be sharing Witch Hilde with:

What a great hat and a great way to pass out the hats for the ladies. Your idea for the men is wonderful and fun, too. Wish I had a bigger family sometimes. There are only seven of us (three generations).
