Thrifted Treasures

Hello my friends, I have had a bit of luck at the thrift shops lately and I thought I’d share them with you.
Saturday I woke up with an infected eye so on Monday I called the dr. and he had me come in.  It meant a half an hour trip to Provo, but stopping in at a nearby thrift shop helped me forget about my pain. lol!

English Transferware

Imagine my delight when I spied these beauties right off the bat!  They were in the collectors case so a little more pricey, but still to sweet to pass up.  The large plates and cow creamer were $10 ea. and the saucer was $5.

I love toile and this is two side panels and one very long valance.  I think I can do a bit of tweaking and use them in my basement family room.  If not, the fabric is great and can be used for so many things.  All of them cost me $10.  I just washed them and haven’t ironed them yet.

I found 8 of these pink goblets for $.50 cents each.

This sweet little Beatrix Potter child’s plates was only $1.

Today I went to a friends house to plan for an upcoming party.  Why not stop by our local thrift?

It made me smile when I spied this cookbook for $2.  I had this one when I was first married.  Silly me got rid of it when it became worn an bought a new one.
The shutter I found a while ago for $5, but just painted it.  I need to buy new sandpaper to distress it more.

What do you think of this jar, leave as is or repaint it?  I know what I am going to do, but just wondering. He-he!  It cost me all of $.50 cents.
A pretty red and white box for $2.  I have plans for this in my Valentine décor.

I thought this little fairy was sweet and would be fun for Spring.  Marked $5, but he offered to lower it to $3 because it had been there a week.  I didn’t even ask.
The pretty eggs are perfect to add to a bird vignette.

I never pass up a vintage ball or a piece of hardware.

I bought these for $1 each with my kids in mind.  I knew they would love them.  My son, Dalan and dil were here tonight so they took them home.

Oh my word, Jann you found all sorts of incredible treasures!!!!

Now my fav is that red metal lidded jar. Don't paint it- it is perfect as is! I ADORE it, and you know me- I don't like too much red, so that's saying a lot, haha.

Well done!

Wow! You've been lucky, Jann! I was happy to find a cover for my stock pot for 50 cents. I dropped my glass cover and it shattered into a million pieces! I love all the transferware pieces you've found.

Great finds, Jann!! Do you think those wooden balls are croquet balls? They are so unique.

I found the wildfowl plates in my post this week recently at our local thrift store. Love stopping in there!!

I have a quilt, shams and mattress cover in that same toile. It's lovely. And yes, leave that jar lid just as it is. Good finds this week.

The best luck comes when your not expecting it. I hope your eye is healing! You know I loved your photos when you shared some of them on Instagram..heck I even shared the red, white and blue. Awesome deal on the Carnival glass! I wouldn't have even looked at it thinking it was going to be too expensive. You lucky girl!

I hope you'll leave the lid on your glass jar all chippy the way it is - love that! Looks like you've found lots of great treasures lately - I just heard about a new thrift store in American Fork called Tags - have you been there yet?

Yeah, you pretty much rock at Thrift store KARMA! That cow creamer is just the cutest! I love toile too...we'll be using all my Blue collection on our tree next year because my husband doesn't like it! Silly man, but since he pretty much lets me do whatever I want as far as decorating goes, I've decided to let it go...but for a good cause!

I would leave the jar top red and chippy. Your cow creamer is adorable. You had very good day thrifting. When I was in Utah for a conference in 2013 I did a bit of thrifting. Since I flew there I was very limited but a few things came home with me and one was a blue and white cat creamer. Seeing your cow creamer reminded me that my little cat came from your part of the world. sb

The thrift shores in Ventura never have the beautiful treasures you find.

The next time we go skiing in Utah, I am going to make Steve stop at a few thrift shops in St. George.

Hi Jann,
What fun finds! I seem to never find anything good at our Thrift Stores, too many dealers scouring them out daily.
Have a great rest of your week!

Oh, that toile panel would make me sing... (=
I actually found a panel similar, but with just roses right before Christmas and made homemade stockings out of it. I love to fiddle with toile -
Looks like you found lots of good finds~!
Enjoy the cold front. I'm freezing again -
Hope your eye clears up soon...

I think I'll just send you money and pay for the shipping and let you shop for me, Jann. You have the best thrift stores where you are and everything you pick out I would buy if I could. I love it all! I wouldn't paint the chippy lid on the glass jar. I did manage to score 4 rag placemats for $2 yesterday at a local second hand store. They're in great shape and in spring colors, so they'll be fun to use when the weather warms. I also found a sweet little journal for 50 cents; very timely, since I needed a new one. Oh, and at a thrift store that's only open Monday and Tuesday I recently found a Delft Blauw flower pot for $1. Handpainted, Made in Holland. I was pretty excited about that one! Have a happy day. xo ~ Nancy

Some amazing finds. You're just lucky I live to far away to steal the transferware and the toile!

I love the little flower fairy, I have been collecting them for my fairy garden. So far I have found about five at the thrift stores and they are all different. I am always looking for transferware too. You found some really nice pieces, I am in love with the creamer. I have been looking for enough red toile to make a tablecloth for several years. So far no luck with that one. I did find about six yards of black that someone had cut to lengths to make curtains but never finished them. I made a tablecloth when I first found them and I am thinking about making slip covers for my kitchen chairs with the balance of the material.

Don't you love it when you hit the thrift store jackpot! What a great haul! I have had some great thrift store finds lately too and it is so exciting to find those treasures. Seems like they come when you least expect them too.

I'm always amazed at how MUCH you find. Score! The toile and the goblets are my favorites. Send a little bit of your thrift store good karma to the Northeast, okay? Hope that your eye has healed and that you are having a great weekend! :) --Fran
