For the Love of Art & a Give Away. . .

Hello my friends,
I certainly would not call myself an artist, but as long as I can remember I have always been a doodler.

and
through the years I have enjoyed trying my hand at different types of art.
Years ago I took Tole Painting lessons and then taught classes for quite a few years.

Every now and then I like to try my hand at water coloring.
I love it and am thinking of signing up for a class.  I'd like to learn how to do it correctly.
I

A year ago I started an art garden book.

We went on a hike Friday and I brought home one little leaf.  It was the inspiration for my latest water color.

I'm not loving how they turned out, but I still had fun.  I definitely think I needed to use more water.

Here are some of the other pages I have created in my art book.

Pansies and Snapdragons. . .two of my favorite spring flowers.

I made this page after spying a fat robin hopping around in my garden earlier this year.

Notice the titles of the two songs?

In June I pulled out my acrylic paints and painted a rose.  I found that I was a little rusty, but at least
you could tell it was a rose.

Art is such a wonderful way to expand our horizons and helps give us a feeling of accomplishment.
There are so many of you that have amazing talent.  But, if you are like me and just like to doodle I encourage you to give things a try!

And now here's your chance.
Tania from Farragoz contacted me and asked if I would like to do a give away of her amazing on line class.
I have not taken it myself, but know three bloggers who have and loved it.
It teaches you amazing techniques!
For painting furniture, and
before you know it you will be turning simple concrete or ceramic angels into vintage looking pieces of art.

I think my garden angel is wishing that I could win.
(nope, not eligible)

Wishing you lots of luck!
hugs,
Jann

Your journal is beautiful.

I love to journal, but don't do it much. And now, my arthritis issues make it difficult for me to even sign my name.

Dear Jan
Thanks for always taking care of bringing such an interesting blog. Enjoying everyone and always looking forward to the next. A special thanks for the lesson in watercolor.
Lots of blessings from South Africa

I love the thoughts, quotes and inspiring little bits of art…everything doesn't have to be a masterpiece. Sometimes we need to appreciate the 'process' instead of the result. Color or paint with a three-year old…for that lesson.

Lovely post, please do more of this, Sandi

Such a wonderful journal, recording the flowers and leaves are just brilliant. Something to look back through in the winter and what you achieved. Just wonderful xx

I love your art book! Your watercolors look wonderful. I took a Tole painting course many, many years ago and painted on velvet a lot. I gave all my pieces of art away as gifts. I may have one rose left. I loved it but these days my fingers can't even open my water bottle! :-(

Lovely journal! The leaves look great in watercolour. I've been planning to start a watercolour journal as well. I really love that look!

I love your leaves and snapdragons! The one time I tried to watercolor seriously the instructor looked at it and announced it was an abtract. I found it hilarious but haven't tried again. With a journal like that it would be easy to turn to. Stopping by from Roses of Inspiration.

First off, lets get something cleared up, you, my friend, are definitely an artist and a great one at that. Art comes in many many different forms and you are certainly one talented artist gal. I love the idea of art journaling, I took this up just recently and find that on Sunday afternoons it's a wonderful time to spend up in my creative space. Your little song bird is a delight, I might need to give that a go myself.
