Spring is here and the Birds are out!

Hello my friends, happy first day of Spring!

oh my,
it is an absolutely gorgeous day here in Utah.

I have loved having my sheep collection out on my kitchen table, but after the first sighting of a Robin in my garden;
I was ready for a change.

I made this giant nest last year using the trimmings from my Trumpet vine.  I had planned on dressing it up.  I tucked in a few large feathers here and there and then it sat in my craft room for an entire year.  Can you believe it?

I believe things happen for a reason and this just so happens to be one of those times.  It wasn't until after I saw my friend, Joanne's gorgeous nests that I knew just what I wanted to do with mine.  I will be sharing a tutorial on it later.  Joanne may be selling some at 'fleology', a vintage flea market in May.  It doesn't feel right to share until after that.  :)

You know you can never stop with just one.  (wink)
I dressed up a couple more small nests that I already had.  Wouldn't it be fun to have one sitting at each place setting?

I've set the table for a spring luncheon.

I laugh when I look at these darling egg plates.  I saw them at Pier 1 and I tried really hard, (honest I did) to not buy them. Well, when hubby and I was in St. George I caved and ran in and
 picked up a set.

It's a set of 4 and they have 1-4 eggs on each.

I scored these gorgeous mother of pearl napkin rings at a thrift shop.  I had to pay $10, but they were marked $35.  The entire box is mother of pearl.  It's as pretty as the rings.

The bird spheres are a recent gift from my secret pal in a club that I am in.  It just happened to be my cousin, Betty this year.  She knows my love for birds!

I found a set of pretty 4 season plates by Currier and Ives last year.  This one is 'Spring'.

I just bought the bird figurines at 'Vintage Whites' last weekend.  The seller dropped them from $16 to $12 for me.  One might say that she made me an offer I couldn't refuse.  lol!

I love the soft subtle colors.

The bird plates are perfect for dessert.  I bought them at Home Goods last year.  Another tried, but couldn't resist purchase.

I've elevated them a little on an old chippy grate.

I added  scalloped edged purple teacups.  I love how they bring the purple blossoms out in the plates.  You guessed it, both cups and plates are thrift finds.

Last year everything bloomed about a month early.  I remember having blossoms to add to my spring table.  This year they are still in bud.

Another thrift find bird is holding tarnished silver spoons.

And these cuties are shakers.

I hung my teacup trio made by my friend, Dolly from the chandy.

I'm wishing you and EGG-tra special first day of Spring!

Jann, this is all just so sweet and pretty. I don't blame you one bit for caving on those plates. The napkin rings are gorgeous and you'll never be sorry for buying them. Your turquoise chandelier caught my eye. I think I have the same chandelier in black and have been thinking of moving it. A fun color would be great!

Fabulous and so very spring-y! Happy First Day of this most beautiful season! I collect birds' nests and have a display on my antique radio (big 1920's model!), and on the top of my dining room hutch I have a nest still attached to its branches. My husband found that one for me. Many of the nests here are made cozy and comfy with dog and donkey fur. The kingbirds return every spring to build their nest on our front porch eaves. The Carolina wrens are busy with their nest as are the cardinals.

Loving your birds here....mine seem to be finding their way to the master bedroom ...before landing on the porch. Here in Chicagoland it is too cold to enjoy them on the porch, yet. Thanks for the pretty tour, Sandi

I love it all.

I have been thinking about doing a bird post because I just noticed that I have quite a few birds around the house.

It truly is the most marvelous adventure visiting your place each time, Jann. An adventure filled with "oh my...will you look at that gorgeous pretty"! You never fail to disappoint. Who needs to browse through magazines, when you can ogle at all your pretties each visit. Love those birdie desert plates and how gorgeous are those mother of pearl napkin rings in an equally gorgeous box! Love your nest, too.....actually I LOVE everything!!

Oh Jann, don't we just love our dishes and pretty things??!! I'm glad to see you caved in and bought those pretty plates. What I love is the plate under the egg plate, that has the pretty little flowers on it...sigh! Your darling teacup trio hanging from your chandelier is just too adorable for words.
Also, your previous post with the potato mashers is so creative. How I would love to join you all with your crafts club. Fun!!

Oh my, Jann--I have the same four Currier and Ives four seasons plate! I bought them in 1976 when we bought our first house and hung them on the wall. I could never part with them. I love all your spring time collectibles, especially the bird statues. You are such an inspiration!

From the moment I saw the first photo of the charming bird in the nest you had me. If I saw something like that in a gift shop I'd have to have it! Your seasonal decorating is first rate, Jann. I love everything you've shared. And the egg plates? Oh yes, you had to have those. Hugs, Nancy
