I'm Feeling Blue
Wednesday, December 1, 2010
Every since we moved into our new home about a year and a half ago I've been feeling blue.
Not just any blue mind you, but that pretty turquoise blue. For those of you who know me you'd have to admit that is quite unusual. Normally I am such a red freak! Never fear, the red did not disapear it just compliments the blue very well. It all started last Spring when I decided to paint the half wall between my family room and kitchen 'Silver Sage'. A Restoration Hardware paint that I love. From there it blossomed into painting my island and fan hood. My husband had a hard time understanding how come I wanted to cover up such beautiful wood. Recently I purchased a darling red and tqs. candy cane plate. WA-LA, I decorated my kitchen table with my new favorite combo for Christmas. I'd love to have you drop in for a visit anytime. But it looks like I'll have a blue Christmas with or without you!

"Oh, what a difference a day can make!"
A week ago Monday I mowed the lawn. The next morning I woke up to a skiff of snow on the lawn. The following morning I woke up to a BLANKET of snow covering the lawn. Then this Monday I mowed the lawn again. All I can say is, 'welcome to FAll in Utah'. Definately, unpredictable and can change quickly from day to day. As I was pulling up annuals and squash vines I couldn't help but contemplate on the coming of Spring. Crazy I know, but as I began preparing the garden for the coming snow my mind seemed to wander. I found myself already contemplating the daily ritual I do every March and April. That is of strolling the garden to see which Spring bulbs and perennials have dared to poke their heads out first. Well, until that time arrives I know that they will be snuggled up underneath that blanket of snow. A blanket that will definately last for more than a day. Until Spring arrives one thing I would like to say to my sleeping plants is, 'may you REST in PEACE!'
Happy Halloween from me to you!

I've added a few new items this year, but this spooky banner
and my Halloween countdown calendar are my favorites!
I made this calendar with my sister-in-law, Laurie. It
was SO fun!
Our Halloween Home
Cute pumpkin head given to me by my
sweet friend Ann
This is the first quilt I made. My sister
Julie bound it for me because I didn't know
how. So funny, I can't even begin to count
how many quilts I have bound now!
This one is called 'Pumpkins Gone Wild'
My cat collection
I love randomly scattered pumpkins throughout the yard.
Witch Hildegard
A witchy welcome!
the flowering kale.
pumpkin house numbers
of my 'favorite' things!
given to me by my dear old friend Joyce. We've been friends
since 6th grade.
I love decorating for Halloween! I'm not sure if it's the bright colors or what. Because I really don't like haunted houses or anything too scarey. I stick to more the fun stuff. Hope you enjoy!

If I Wouldn't Miss the Mountains
Wednesday, September 22, 2010
Recently my hubby and I vacationed in Wisconsin. Why Wisconsin you ask? Well, because we have a vacation plan that has a resort there. It's in a quaint little town, 'Fish Creek' located in an area called 'Door County'. It was absolutely gorgeous! So much so that we both agreed that we could live there. That is, "If we wouldn't miss the mountains". The whole area is on the Great Lakes. Water so wide that it looks just like it's the ocean. My hubby loves being by the water. As we toured through the numerous quaint little towns he would say, "there's a place for sale." We imagined ouselves in this darling cottage, ( that's what they call them), with the backyard on the Lake. Most of the homes are way back in, down a little lane. This is so they could be on the Lake. In reality, we could never leave our gorgeous mountainous home. We love the mountains way too much. Sure was fun imagining though! I never realized how beautiful Wisconsin was. Glad we went there, and can't wait to return! I think that some of these pics will help you understand why we felt that way.

This was a garden shop next to the antique store. So quaint!

They call this a lake?

Egg Harbor was 3 miles from our resort. Darling town-pop. 100 something.

Egg harbor park by the pier.

We found ourselves in 'Cherryland'. Cherry juice, cherry cheese, cherry salsa, cherry pie, and choclate covered cherries-the best. Needless to say we kept ourselves real regular on this trip. HA-HA!

Breakfast at the 'White Gull Inn'. None other than their famous, 'Cherry Stuffed French Toast'.

Peninsula National Park located N. of Fish Creek

Lighthouse in Peninsula Park. A family with 7 boys lived there for 35 years. We were able to tour through this one, very interesting history.

These next few pics are among my favorites- chairs, chairs, and more chairs!

Everywhere you went chairs were beaconing to you to "Take a Seat".

This resort really knew how to welcome the birds!

LOVE, LOVE, the flag blowing in the wind behind this chair!

Again, more chairs begging you to come sit.

See what I mean, they were everywhere! Don't you love all the different colors and styles of chairs?

We drove clear out in the boonies to find this place in Sturgeon Bay. It came highly recommended by a food critic on the internet. Darn, the fish fry was only on Fri. nites!
Birdhouse with a RED roof, how could anyone not love it?
You would drive for a bit heading to the next town and just out in the no wheres you'd find a cute little shop like these two to browse through.

They seemed to say, "sit, relax, and take in the gorgeous view!"
