New Life for Old Items. . .

Today I stopped by D. I. to find a few glass items.

I needed them for a bridal shower I am throwing for my soon to be new DIL.

Of course, you can’t just leave with what you went for.

I went out into the yard area.  Look what I found.

003

Three of these little iron metal thingy’s.  (For lack of a better word.)

Only one of them was marked $1.  The cashier asked me if it was $1 for all three or $1 ea.  I told him that I really didn’t know because only one of them was marked.  He replied, “I’m feeling generous today, you can have them all for $1.  What a bargain!

I decided to stop by Walmart on my way home and pick up some spray paint.

I wasn’t sure what color I wanted to paint them.  Then I spied this.

007

Spray paint in hand I immediately went to work.

004

I stuck them here and there for a little pop of color.

When I was finished I thought, “Hmm, why stop there.”

I have a child’s Adirondack piece that I ordered years ago from Lillian Vernon.

It was starting to fall apart and hubby wanted me to toss it.

I couldn’t  part with it.  The toddlers always love sitting in it.

A few years ago my cousins hubby refurbished it for me.  He sanded it, but I told him I would paint it.

Why not spray it too?

005

I almost forgot to take a before pic.

Here it is half and half.

006

As I was spraying it I found that I really liked how It looked with just one coat.  You could see a bit of the sanded area.

What do you think?

It found a new home under our pergola.

Just so happens that we have two grandies that are 18 and 22 months old.

They are going to love this!

It is just their size.  Don’t you agree?

Very cute! Those little fence thingys...little story. My girlfriend was selling some at her Garage sale. I took 1...brought it home and put it outside....then I thought why didn't I get more? But the funny thing was when my girlfriend saw it...she said, where did you get that cute little fence?
BTW, what is DI?

Love that color, but I really love that you save the little adirondacks. Your grands will think of that as their chair. I know my daughter and nieces think that about some wee furniture at Grammy's house. I think that always makes them feel special.

So cute! I love the little chairs, and I see you got them from my Aunt Lillian. (My grandmother ordered so much cool stuff from the LV catalog when my mother was growing up that my grandfather said he should declare her as a dependent on his taxes, so she was referred to as "your sister Lillian".)

Oh my gosh this is perfect! I have 2 kids and when they were smaller I felt like I had to buy 2 of everything...I usually didn't though so they did the "I called it first" thing. Always interesting! They would have loved something like this. Glad it was saved from the dreaded trash!
