A. B. C., 1, 2, 3…

1. A is for APPLES and ARIZONA.

On our way to visit our daughter in Mesa, AZ a week or so ago hubby and I drove through Oak Creek Canyon and came out in beautiful Sedona.

We stopped off at Slide Rock State Park.

It is an old apple farm homestead that still sales apples today.

This is the original home built by the homesteader in 1927.

Love that hand built rock wall.

2. B is for BLOSSOMS, BUTTERFLY, and BEE.

IMG_6040-vert

The apple trees were full of blossoms.  The bees seemed to be happily enjoying their sweet nectar. In the field adjacent to the apple trees I spied this orange bloom.  As I got closer I could see the orange butterfly.  I didn’t realize that they were all B words until I started making the mosaics,

Slide Rock is now a popular swimming area.  It is quite large and some areas are shallow while others are deeper.  I can imagine how busy this place must be during the hot AZ summer months.

3. C is for CABINS.

When Mr. Pendley realized what a tourist attraction Slide Rock was he built cabins in 1933.  They are no longer used today.

The tree closest to this old farming equipment is the only remaining tree from the original orchard.

We had so much fun and saw so many beautiful things during our visit.  One last C word that you definitely think of when you think of Arizona is the Cactus.

God has given us so many beautiful things to enjoy upon this earth.

Thank You Lord for all of earths wonders!

Happy Earth Day!

We have a Sliding Rock here in NC. I would love to travel out West and visit the area you did! I lived in Northern NM years ago and it's so different there and in AZ. Great photos!

Jann, the scenery in Sedona is spectacular. The photo of the flower with the matching butterfly is very pretty and so are the apple blossoms. I bet you had a wonderful time there looking at all the beauty around the area.---- Shannon

There's just something so exotic about desert flowers.
The old buildings have such a lot of character, don't they? I can just imagine the stories they could tell...
