Door County

A few years ago hubby and I vacationed in Door County, WI.  It’s a wonderful place and if you have never been there I highly recommend it!  Hoping to return there someday when the Fall colors are putting on a show.

We stopped at an art gallery in the little town of Ephraim.  I wanted to buy a picture like one we had seen in our resort.  I was a bit disappointed to learn that the picture I wanted was all sold out.

Hubby wandered around while I was talking to the shop keeper and pretty soon I heard him say, “Jann, I found one that you would like”.

Wonder how on earth he ever got that idea?. . .

Hee-hee, needless to say; the picture now hangs in my family room.

I love doors, too. Your hubby is very observant. That picture was perfect for you.

I loved seeing the doors, but I also enjoyed seeing the cabinet full of red (I am not sure if yours is ruby, or cranberry) glass, but it is a beautiful collection. I collect "red" glass. I am not sure which is which but they are different shades of red, so I am guessing that some are ruby and some are cranberry. I have one planter/bowl that was made by a company that used to make marbles. It is a very dark red with some darker and lighter striations in it, just like in the old fashioned marbles. I just need a great glass front cabinet like you have.

BTW, loved seeing the touches of turquoise, too.

I love the small cabinet with a door on front and have one of those too - at my store. I keep the door open and sell jewelry off the open window part. Jan, I am looking for a door with a rounded top - you know really old. As a child we had one with a window you could open and look out. I will keep looking. All your doors are really wonderful!!! Your basement looking fabulous.

They're all beautiful!
Door County is a place I've always wished to visit. Many, many years ago I read a story set there and it has always been a place I've wanted to see.

Hi Jann,
I like doors too, especially with glass panes and a crystal door knob like the one on your cabinet. That is really charming! And I agree with one of your commentors, you could take photos of your own doors and make your own. Great post and thanks for sharing it at my HOME. Enjoy your weekend.

Blessings,
Sandi

Love it, Jann. Did you know we lived in Door County for several years? My brother-in-law still lives there...and we are only a few miles from the county line? No other place like it in the Midwest! xo Diana

I prop doors throughout the house. There is something about the promise of something behind one that is appealing.
