Pick Yer Punkin!

Yesterday was a gorgeous day and hubby and I spent a good portion of it in the garden.  The rest of the day was spent cleaning our garage.

IMG_2370

I did a lot of cutting back, pulling out, and harvesting.

Time to Pick Yer Punkin!

IMG_2371

What’s your choice?  Fat ones, skinny ones, short ones, tall ones?

IMG_2376

How about color?

Light orange, dark orange, creamy white, white, or even green?

IMG_2374

IMG_2378

I think that the creamy white ones crossed over with the orange pumpkins.  They were on the same vine as the pure white.

The green pumpkins are going to get a coat of black spray paint and will be used in my b&w vignettes.

Most of them are medium to small sized.  But look at this tall skinny one.  I love it!

IMG_2375

This is where my pumpkins were harvested from.  Planted beneath my roses.  As you can see, I also pulled out the Zinnias that were planted in front of the fencing.

Getting the garden ready for Winter.  Tomatoes are still producing.  I am always so sad to see them come to an end!

IMG_2379

Just something about pumpkins that makes me smile.

Don’t you love them?

Wicked Fun!

Knowing that I will start decorating for Halloween next week I decided to have a bit of ‘wicked fun’!

If you ask me, creating Halloween decorations is just that!

It all started with a B.I.N.G.O. card. . .It was blue, but I took it to a copy center and had a few made in b&w.

I cut rectangles out of old book pages and backed them with black cardstock.  The words were added by using a stencil, black ink pad and a stencil brush.

IMG_2364

I have a lot of Halloween banners so I went with the words WICKED.  Notice the clock?  It signifies the ‘witching hour’.

IMG_2354

When the crow caws. . .

IMG_2355

You know that Halloween is near.

IMG_2356

EEK!  Spiders and bats, oh my!

IMG_2358

I thought it might be fun to decorate my basement family room in b&w for Halloween this year.  I have had this pumpkin for years.  Decided to give it a new look.

IMG_2350

IMG_2352

I tore small squares from the book and simply Mod Podged them onto the pumpkin.

A little ribbon, tuelle, a crochet flower, and scrapbook doo dads. . .Voila!

IMG_2363

Oh, and don’t forget the crow on top!  I made her a party hat.

IMG_2362

I think she likes it.  If you look close, I swear she is smiling.

IMG_2369

I haven’t started decorating yet, but I had to drape it to see how she looked.  Well, I think it’s ‘Wicked’ cute, How about you?

Share Your Cup #74 and What Will I be?

Hello my friends, happy Fall and welcome to Share Your Cup.  The party where you share the things in life that make you happy.

Thanks to all of you for your support and for filling my cup.  If you are linking for the first time, so happy to have you!  I hope you feel welcome!

Today I am taking dinner into an elderly lady who lives up the street from me.

Bertha Is a young ‘103’, yes I said ‘103 year old that lives in a little white house all by herself.

She is an amazing woman.  She gets me to thinking?  What will I be when I’m 103?

I just wanted to share some of what I have seen when I go there to visit:

Now mind you, I have only lived in the neighborhood for 4 years.  Not an old time Alpiner like a lot of people who visit.  Still, she knows who I am every time I go there.

One time she was writing a letter.  She told me that one of her grandchildren had asked her how she was feeling. She was writing about how thankful she was and asked me to read a bit of it.  I was amazed at how legible her writing was.

Another time she told me that she had been to the Dr. for a check up.  She said, “I don’t know why I had to go, I told him I feel better than I did at 73”.

She has an astonishing memory and loves life.

She always talks of how blessed she is.  Never complains or wishes that the good Lord would take her.

I may not make it to 103, but I sure could learn a lot from this wise woman!

Now let’s jump into features from SYC #74.  I missed partying with you all last week and can’t wait to see what you have to share this week!

Remember, if you want to pin any of the features, please do it from their blog.

Debby from My Favorite Things shared her love for the month of September.

Deidre from Simply Simplisticated shared her Fall box that she made from a pallet she picked up alongside the road.

Bliss Ranch made this ‘Rocker’ dresser for her son for the 2nd time.  Yes, she has already made one once.  I can see a rock star in the future.

Kathy from A Delightsome Life just remodeled her kitchen.  The entire thing is darling.  One of my favorites is the wall paper inside some of the cabinets.  What a fun surprise!

Jeanette from Creating a Life Now made this darling shade to cover an existing light.  You won’t believe what she used!

Snippets of Fall. . .

Now that Fall has officially arrived I find myself thinking about Halloween.  lol!  Isn’t that how it goes?

In only a week I will be making the transition.  The kid in me ‘loves’ to decorate for Halloween.  No matter how old, I never tire of the ‘Trick or Treat’ holiday.

It delights me with childhood memories as well as the anticipation of what costumes my grandies will be wearing.

I have shared my Fall mantle , table, and porch   I have snippets of Fall here and there throughout my home.  Thought I would share them before they are packed away.  Some of them will return, only to be displayed in a different way with the Thanksgiving holiday.
