FALL-o-ween!

Have you ever had a title for a post thought out in your mind and then something happens that makes you change it?

That happened to me this morning.  I thought about doing this post yesterday and the title, “Fall-ing in love with black & white is what came to mind.

I have had the center of my kitchen table decorated for a week.  This morning I added dishes to the table.

When I think of Fall I think of shades of gold, orange, browns, and a pop of red.  The color of the gorgeous changing leaves here in UT.

I don’t think of black and white.  However, when I decorated my Fall table that’s what came about.

It started with double stacked black hobnail cake stands topped with my cute checkered pumpkin.  Notice that a crow landed on top?

I added this rustic black dough bowl that I filled with a touch of Fall.

IMG_2194

I filled an old chicken feeder with pinecones, acorns, and an assortment of nuts.

IMG_2191

I thought that this $4 yard sale jar with the white washed pinecones worked in perfectly.  It will be a fun piece for winter also.

IMG_2192

Of course my wise old owl with the b&w ticking had to be included!

IMG_2188

Don’t you love this French script cabbage?  A 60% discounted item after Spring at Hobby Lobby.

IMG_2201

All placed upon a runner I made from a black striped feed sack.  It is overcast and raining here today so I am having a hard time getting good pics.  There has been some flooding just East of us.  Hope everyone is getting it under control.  We had a little in our basement, but hubby got it cleaned up quickly.  No damage was done.

IMG_2197

The final touch to the table was hanging a couple of creamers from the chandy.  I filled them with a mini pumpkin.

IMG_2184

This morning I added the dishes.  Just a little b&w with a pop of orange.

IMG_2193

Now here’s where the title change came about.  Hubby walked in and said, “Are you decorating for Halloween?”  I said, no it’s still Fall.  He said, it looks like Falloween.  I guess the orange and black just destined this post for a new title.

These sweet little carriage glasses were a thrift find.  I only have two.

Jann, I love how this all came together. The pumpkin on the stacked stands is so pretty! I think I'll tweak what I've done to my dining room! You've inspired me!

You are soooo far ahead of me! I wonder if it counts as planning if I spend the morning looking at posts like yours? Lots of great ideas, and it is putting me in the Fall mood.

Falloween could really catch on. I love every aspect of your table and can't wait to do mine. Currently hubby is painting it before it comes back into the kitchen and I am busy sorting out the decorations for Autumn. xx

Falloween is brilliant. What a cute table. There is so much going on! I had one of those crows once upon a time. They look so real, putting him atop the checked pumpkin is darling.

Oh Jann this is all just too cute :)

Hobnail cake stands! Two weeks ago the local mission store had a milk glass cake stand that was supposedly a rare pattern and they wanted 150.00 for it! I asked the lady about it and she said that it was going on Ebay for 199.00 so they were charging 150.00
NEVER thought it would sell there at that price but on my next visit it was gone! :)

I remember that owl from Swiss Days last year! I got one as well...lol...after seeing yours. Wasn't that storm last night awful? We were at the Pack's...a couple of blocks from you...for our reunion and were driven indoors. The dry creek was running at almost flood stage. I couldn't believe it! We barely missed being forced to evacuate...it's a good thing we didn't move to the church! That area was completely closed off. At least you had good weather for your sale. =D

Hello Jann,
I think it is just really cute! I did laugh as I was reading it thinking that if I ever just set the table for show, my Hubby would be so confused as to Okay Honey when's dinner?
I only have my kitchen table open for a four place setting. My dining room is my study room and where we place our wood burning stove. Your a darling thanks for the tablescape!
Blessings, Roxy
