FALL-ow the Rust

Well, it’s that time of year that the porch needs another makeover.

I hope that my friends and family will feel welcome from the moment they approach the front  step.
If you happen to come by what a fun chat we could have!  Not sure how to get here?  Just follow the rust!

What says welcome more than a rustic garden gate?

IMG_2020

Unless it’s a rustic birdbath filled with some of Natures bounty. I picked this one up at a thrift store for $12.  I gave it a few shots of grey and black spray paint.

IMG_2015

I gathered Indian tobacco and wheat grass from the mouth of the canyon and filled the rest with twigs, a gourd, faux pumpkins, leaves, a cabbage, and sunflowers.

IMG_2016

I also tossed in a couple of French tin pots.

IMG_2017

IMG_2018

I have had my drop leaf table and old cupboard sitting in this corner for a year now.  Decided it needed a change.

More rust!  I love my $5 shopping cart that just happened to have been one from the neighborhood grocer where I grew up.  I remember walking there to buy my 5 cent Butterfinger candy bar.  Mr. Allens grocery.

IMG_2021

Even the mums are rust!

IMG_2023

And is that a bit of rust I see on that Fountain Grass? lol!

IMG_2024

My blue bike had started to rust so I gave it a new coat of vintage white.  I love rust, but don’t want this baby to rust out.

IMG_2028

A bonnet in case I decide to take her for a spin.  And yes, I decorate with my over sized zucchini.

IMG_2027

I lined the back baskets with burlap and planted Fountain Grass, Rudebeckias, and mums.

IMG_2031

A rust-ic funnel offers a bit of feed for the birds.

IMG_2025

Morning Glory continues to grow up the branches in my urns.  Pumpkins will be added when it cools down more.

IMG_2029

And my newest treasure.

IMG_2054

Yes, I covered up a lot of the rust with Pistachio Green spray paint from Wal-mart.
But don’t you fret, I left a little just for fun!

How about you, do you like rust?

hugs,

Jann

I do love rust! I wanted some rain chains for the corners of my house...I had seen them on some homes in Idaho Falls. When we redid the front porch, George bought some chains and I was so excited! But they never rusted! They were supposed to get all lovely and rusty...but dear hubby bought them stainless! Yikes! I still like watching the rain run down the chains...but alas! It's not the same...lol!

Well I have to admit that no I haven't liked rust in the past, but I am warming up to the idea. I love rusty things from my parents or grandparents and fall is a perfect time for rust. Your things are beautiful! Such good ideas!

Wow, that is a large zucchini! You've reminded me that I've been meaning to make chocolate zucchini bread. And I LOVE the way the green paint looks on your vintage washer, it is the PERFECT shade to tidy it up yet gives off a vintage vibe. Lovely! :)--Fran

Love it all!!! That little fence is "the one that got away" from me at the flea market. I've been wanting one for a while and now I'm really going to have to find one. Wow, we are on the same wavelength...I also have been wanting an old bicycle with a basket to put fall flowers in. Everything looks great!

Love, love it all, but I especially love the gate~!
I have come to a conclusion lately. I do believe we live in the best state for 'junking' - lol
Utah must hold the title of "Junking Capital of the West" ~ possibly, the world~!
I haven't even started outside - now, you are inspiring me~!!!
(was awaiting the opening of the local pumpkin patch...)

I love all your rust. We just had summer arrive on our part of the coast so I am not quite ready for fall decor, but you gave me some great ideas and I am going to start gathering things for the porch.

Thanks for the inspiration.

I have a board on Pinterest called Rusty, Old & Amazing Junk, so obviously I am as enamored with rusty old things as much as you are! Your porch looks absolutely perfect for Fall. I love the rusty old gate the best. We salvaged an old gate from our dads childhood home and it is now our garden gate. It's black wrought iron and hasn't begun to rust too badly yet but when it does, I'm leaving it alone!

Have a wonderful weekend, Jann :-)

Love the wringer washer!

My fridge still works fine but the outside is rusting...little rust spots everywhere. Not too thrilled with it there, lol! :)
