Memories. . .

Tomorrow will be the official first day of Fall.

Although we will be putting summer behind us, we will always remember the memories that were made. . .

I have been on a week long quilting retreat with some of my friends.  Creating memories. . .one might say.

At one of the local shops I found this wonderful memories box.  I could hardly wait to bring it home and play with it.

I quickly filled it with some mementos of this summer.

A memory that I will always cherish is that of traveling to Spain and Portugal with my husband.  Walking the Camino and spending 17 days with our youngest daughter and SIL.  The large vintage key was a found treasure in a quaint little street side shop in Portugal.

Garden pots will be emptied and the Rosemary will be brought indoors.  Soon the feathery ferns will turn yellow and remain for Winter interest.

On the 17th of July I celebrated a milestone birthday.  Hubby and kids threw me a fun filled party full of laughter.  Certainly a special memory!

All that remain of my beautiful Pink Cone flowers are the seed pod centers.  Soon they will be but just a memory.

This was a summer busy with home improvement.  Decorating our basement consumed a good share of our summer.

IMG_2308

My new rose garden brought me beautiful blooms that brought such delight!

IMG_2309

Spending time with family and friends always adds to my list of favorite memories.

Soon these drawers will be filled with more memories.

I love funeral baskets because they evoke special memories of my mother and loved ones that have passed on.

In the background you can see my fun new door that ‘welcomes’ you to our newly finished basement.  Originally it was a solid door.  To me it felt as though you were walking into a closet.  The windowed door is so much more inviting!

This is some of what I have been working on this past week.  I have 55 blocks completed.  I am making it to fit my King bed.  I still have thirty or so more to go.  Can’t wait until the making of this quilt is just a memory!

I hope you are creating some wonderful memories of your own!

Jann

Jann, The memory box is a true treasure. I love the key. It doesn't take huge gifts to remember a great time. I like the colors of the quilt. xoxo,Susie

WOW...I envy your sewing ability. That is going to be one beautiful sweet fall quilt! You color choices are lovely. I wish I was able to do that on my own. I just entered, this past weekend, a raffle for a vintage quilt. I am SO hoping they pull my ticket!
