Birds and Blossoms

Nothing says Spring more to me than seeing birds in my garden and blossoms in my trees.

They make me smile every time I walk outdoors.

After putting Easter décor away the birds and blooms started flying into my home.  I've got them tucked here and there.  They've even flown onto my table.

My Weeping Crabapple tree is covered with gorgeous blossoms.  I couldn't wait to bring some indoors!
Pink blossoms and aqua bottles.  A bit of heaven, if you ask me.

I found the cute S&P shakers at an estate sale last week.

The vintage quilt I've used as a tablecloth came from the same sale.
It's time worn, but I love it!

A couple of months ago I found the bird plates while shopping at Home Goods.
I have so many dishes that I tried to resist.  As you can see I didn't succeed.  lol!

I placed them on pretty vintage dishes, Virginia Rose by Homer Laughlin.  I found them at our local thrift.  To me it looks as though the birds are sitting among blossoms.

I used a faux cabbage leaf as a charger.

I love the sweet bloom and crochet edge on these vintage napkins.

I made the little nests last year by cutting a vintage sewing pattern into strips and twisting and rolling it like you do to make flowers.

I placed a small egg and a millinery flower pin inside.

I have 6 bird plates, but only four of the floral.

The remaining two birds are on display in my chippy pink grate with some hand painted plates I found while thrifting in ID.

I have used my grate on my table before, but never thought of using it to hold plates until I saw Cathy's from My 1929 Charmer.  Don't you love getting inspiration from blog friends?

Of course I had to add my pretty glass sugar bowl with the bird on top.

I knew just what I wanted to do with this old grinder when I spied it at our thrift.

I paid $2 for this darling tea towel at the same estate sale.  The purple teacup was a birthday gift from a friend years ago.  I like how they pull the purple flowers out of the floral plates.

Can you tell how much I love these blossoms?  he-he!

I always need a bit of whimsy.  Got it by adding some garden gloves and a cute little bird to my aqua chandy.

Mini egg wreaths added to the back of the chairs is the final touch to this
'Birds and Blossoms' table.

( I'm smiling because I had the bar stools turned up on the island so I could mop the floor.  but I had to stop and take photos first.  Think of them as a green picket fence.)  lol

I hope you enjoyed my Spring time table!

hugs,
Jann

These are some of the things I said while reading this post: "that is so cute", "how did she think of that?" "I need to go to Homegoods!", "This is amazing", "Oh my gosh - little wreaths on the chairs"...that is only a fraction of what I was saying. You amaze and inspire me. Thank you so much for continually taking the time to share your creativity with us.

Of course you couldn't pass up those adorable bird plates! Spring is so slow in arriving here this year that it is a treat to see your beautiful blossoms. Mind if I pop over and enjoy all the pretties?

Your table quilt is beautiful. I've never had the nerve to use a quilt on the table. Too many spills at my house.

The association of pastel colours you created is charming!

Nobody does whimsy quite like you Jann. Even the garden gloves are just about the cutest gloves I've ever seen! The purple cup that your friend gave you is the exact same color as the purple in the napkin. All the colors blend so nicely with each other, and everything is so feminine and ready for Spring. So pretty!

Love your table ideas!! You always make everything so pretty. That estate sale tea towel I think originally was a hand towel for the bathroom. Least that is how people I grew up used towels that looked like that. Usually they were made of a fine linen and a bit smaller than a tea towel. Usually they had a design on only one end' they were placed on a small towel rack or over a towel ring in the bathroom. They were for the guest to dry their hands on. Aren't they so pretty!! :-) Sarah
