I’ve come to the conclusion (Elementary my dear Watson), that my hubby was quite jealous of my gal pal trip to Oregon.
Last Friday he said, “Do you want to go somewhere for the holiday or are you sick of traveling?” “If you do, I will take Monday off”. Now, hubby doesn’t take time off unless it’s a big vacation or he’s going fishing.
Tuesday was a holiday for us Utah people. It’s Pioneer Day. The day which we celebrate our pioneer ancestors traveling the plains and coming into this valley.
As we thought about where we might go, I remembered that the kids had given us a get-away package for Daniels Summit resort for Christmas. We had planned on using it this Fall, but why not call and see if there was any availability.
We stayed for one night and the next morning rented RZR’s for four hours. In case you don’t know, a RZR is kind of like a four wheeler, only safer. Here’s hubby in our little rig.
As we first headed up the trail we drove into a grove of quakies. Isn’t this gorgeous?
Some of the sights we saw along the way is this rustic fence.
This old metal thing. Not sure what it is, but I would have loved to have brought it home with me. I love planting in anything galvanized. Can’t you just see a plant coming out of the top?
How about this sheep camp? You can hitch that to my wagon any old time. We actually saw two more, but the battery on the camera had died.
A bit blurry but I loved the contrast of the b&w with the purple. Even thistle look pretty growing in the wild.
Hubby let me get behind the wheel. Boy was that fun!
A couple more beautiful scenery shots.
And then here we are at the end of the trail. Now time to turn around and head back down.
Hope you enjoyed our little holiday adventure.
Hugs,
Jann

Oh-Another blonde in blogland!;>) What a wonderful get away you and hubby had. I think those spontaneous ones are often the best. We can't do that like we used to but I love to just drop what I am doing and GO. I love the metal thingy-and the fences and scenery. Perfect!!! xo Diana
Oh, Jann! I love the fence - and I love all the photos you took! I am so glad you had a good get-away - and I love the photo of you and the hubs! Dan and I take little trips often - just decide we want to do something and take off with the cameras! Such fun.
You two are adorable. It is nice you were able to spend time together in our beautiful mountains.

Hi Jann!
It looks like you had a great time on your trip to the mountains! Much better than ours. Yes... it was really lame, but I feel better now.
Don't worry, you are still more than welcome to share this at my party even though all I did was complain about my dumb trip.
I won't say where we went (for fear native So. Ca. readers would stone me) but the scenery in no way compares to the views you had! Loved all the green and it looks so clean.... that's all I'm sayn'

Wow, what a fun impromptu trip. I can just feel the wide open joy that comes from scenery like that. Thanks for sharing, especially since I doubt I'll be anywhere near such a cool place for a very long time. Loved seeing the sites through your lens.

I think that TROLLS live in that old galvanized thing...better that you left it alone! :)
I love that four wheeler. My hubby and I both an ATVs that we drove all over our property in the mountains of NC...that was such great fun! Looks like a perfect place to visit in the summer and you got a wonderful photo of the two of you!
What fun. I must say, I was blown away by the beauty of the grove of quakies...I'm assuming "quakies" are the gorgeous trees? I think if I ever found a place like that I would just set up camp and never leave. That is a picture that will remain on my inner eye (just like daffodils) for ever! I've never seen anything like it. Absolutely breathtaking (can you tell I like trees?:)).
