Caught Red Hand(l)ed!

Hello, and happy Monday.

This morning I was wondering, what is it about old red handled kitchen items that make me (and many others) go all Lady Ga-Ga?

The minute I spy one I am picking it up and tempting myself to take it home.

Last Friday a new item found it’s way into my heart.  This old red handled strainer.

I wanted to see what other items had tempted me so I began pulling them out.  I have been picking them up for years.

IMG_9601

How can something as simple as this sweet little knob on this sifter be so tantalizing?  Does anyone know what the little tool with the serrated edge was used for?  I didn’t know, but somehow it didn’t matter.

IMG_9607

I love this chopper and masher!  Who cares if a bit of the paint is chipping off?

IMG_9606

I mean really, look how my pastry blender only has one chip of red paint left.  Still it managed to tempt me.  Oh and I must be ever so careful every time I wash it.  It would be tragic if that last piece was to vanish!  The little scoop holds the perfect amount of laundry detergent.

IMG_9604

Even a red handled potato dicer.  Not sure what it really is called.  But still, it couldn’t escape me.

IMG_9608

Just look at them.  They look so sweet and innocent.  But oh how they have a power over me!

IMG_9610

And now my attraction has even gone over to the dark side.  The men’s side that is.lol!  How could I resist this red handled tool?

IMG_9609

I was just about to end this post when I realized that I hadn’t included my sweet red handled rolling pins.

How about you, do you ever get caught red hand(l)ed?

Hugs,

Jann

Simple things, simple pleasure.........it's fun to know there are others who enjoy such things. I don't have a group of these myself, but I can relate. ;-)
Wonderful seeing them all together, especially the rolling pins.

Oh, yes, and green handled too! I have an old yellowware bowl on the shelf over the kitchen sink filled with some of these great old wooden handled tools. I love them but I don't use them. Some are too rusty and fragile now. Fun collection Jan!

I think we are drawn to the older red or green handled utensils as it brings back memories of the kitchens we were raised up in. Thanks for sharing your great collection.
Hope you are having a great week.

I love the old red-handled ones but I don't have any pieces of it. My Mom had several things with red handles and I wish I had them now. I do have a few pieces with the green from that same era. Blessings- xo Diana

I don't think I've bought any of those red handled temptresses, but they call my name every time there is one around. I LOVE them too, and one day I will have my own collection, but I have to have a bigger house first.
I really enjoyed seeing your red-handled collection today.
Hugs, Cindy

There's something so wonderful about old kitchen tools. They just remind me of Mom's and Grandma's kitchens and all the good things that were made in there!

Great post! All those kitchen utensils remind me of my Mums kitchen when I was growing up. I still have some of my Mums red handled kitchen bits and bobs, love using them and thinking of her! Lots of love from a dull old England! xx

Never cared for red, was a green girl. That was until I bought 1515 and decided to do opposite of what I do at my house!
Great pieces.

I have several of the same pieces with red handles. Right now, they are in a box waiting for the new shelves to go back in my newly remodeled kitchen. We are hoping to get them up this Saturday and I can't wait...they have been in a box for 6 months.
I love your collection!!

Hi Jann!
I'm on my sons laptop and having some fun visiting all my favorite blogging buddies tonight. I'm so glad I discovered your RED post! You know me...I love red, too!
You have some darling vintage kitchen tools. I love the wooden handles and farmhouse looking gadgets. Your touch of red gingham is the perfect background for each cheerful item.
I'm so glad you stopped by. I appreciate your generous comments about my miniatures. If I remember correctly..You made several miniatures before you started making big quilts. My poor family is still freezing to death begging for more big quilts.
Have a sweet week, my dear!

Love this post Jann and all your darling red handled kitchen utensils. I'm so sad, I inherited some from my mom but our house is so very tiny that I couldn't keep them. WAH! I did take photos though, so I do have the memories of them for always.

Happy Rednesday and Happy New Year!
