February is upon us and it won’t be long now till we find ourselves glued to the t.v. and watching athletes ‘Going for the Gold”
Myself, I have never been a lover of gold. Silver has always been much more my style. Even my wedding rings were silver (white gold).
So when my daughter, Kylee asked if she could host her friend, Rianas bridal shower here (which of course, I said you bet) and she told me that her colors were pink and gold I was not all together thrilled.
But just look at that. . .I feel a tinge of gold love coming on!
Kylee had Pinterest inspiration. So one day while she was at work I helped her out by spraying the insides of some mason jars with gold paint I had on hand. Super easy! Just held them sideways and gave a little squirt now and then, turned and repeat. Go easy, don’t want a lot of runs. A little just gives it character.
Now, back to this gold thing. Always considered myself a silver (2nd place) kind of gal. Although I did get a superior grade after reciting a poem in Spanish at the BYU in 6th grade. I can’t hardly even remember that, but I have the award to prove it. lol!
Kylee cut little triangles from gold metallic paper. I sewed them together. As I sewed, those sweet little things kind of stole my heart. Couldn’t decide whether they reminded me of flying geese (used in quilting designs) or fish skeletons.
Yup, pink, white, and gold looking prettier and prettier! Notice the age on this old mirror? Love it! And yes, there’s a bit of silver showing through. Here we go again!
Oh yeah, and in grade school I could run pretty darn fast! I remember that I could outrun all of the girls and there was only one boy who could beat me. We played a game called pomp and I could just run past those boys and not get pomped. I think you can get the picture.
Kylee made this sweet tassel garland. Love, love it!
Kylee’s style. . .simple and sweet! Maybe her mama needs to take lessons!
In Jr. High I would always run relays, carrying the baton and such at Alpine Days. An event held yearly with neighboring schools. I remember winning some ribbons there too. And I could jump a pretty mean running long jump.
More flowers placed on the table. . .
I don’t usually enter my quilts into shows, but did once and a baby quilt got best in it’s category. I won a few other ribbons on other quilts. No Golds!
and a small pink & white tassel hanging from the light. Which, in case you hadn’t noticed, is silver by the way.
Closed doors on the hoosier, to simplify. Gotta hide all of that red! Another little banner.
Well, you won’t find me strapping on any skis and doing aerials off of slopes. . .or pirouetting in ice skates that’s for sure! Now days I won’t be running any races, passing batons, doing long jumps, or speaking much Spanish. And I’m sure I would get pomped. Might be kind of fun! Hee-hee!
But, come to think of it, I guess I like GOLD a little more than I realized
Go USA – GO FOR THE GOLD! Silvers not bad either.
How about you? Do you prefer silver or gold?
hugs,
Jann

Great decorations - everything is perfect.
I used to be a gold gal but now that my hair has turned silver, I wear silver.
Have a great Sunday.
Mary
Lovely gold mason jars with the pink roses! I actually like both silver and gold. But throughout my home, I have the silver mercury glass not much gold. Have a wonderful Sunday!
I'm a silver person myself, but it sure seems that right now gold is in! Amazing what a little spray paint can do for a Mason jar!
Love the gold! Like others I tend to have more silver in my home but I love mixing them, just like jewelry!~~Angela
Love these jars Jann! As for being a silver or gold person, I am both. I mix them together all the time - whether in jewelry that I wear or make and in decorating.
I love your garland that you made!
I love both and I have both. I like to mix them.
What a beautiful color combo! One I would have not ever thought to pair together either! Love the sweet touches for the shower!!
I am a huge fan of the Olympic games! Summer and Winter!!! I am also, filled with worry this year, over the terrorist threats. I will be tuning in for sure...and loving every minute of it!!

Cute Post mom! I think you still wouldnt get pomped, if we played. Thanks so much for all your help with the shower, it was beautiful and i couldnt have done it with out you!
Dear Jann, Hey, you are first place and you heart is pure gold.
I have always been a gold gal; gold frames and jewelry, scarfs. But in the last couple of years I have learned to like more silver, and bronze.
Bridal showers are fun to put together with the colors the bride chooses. It helps us see different ideas, expanse my color wheel :o)
Blessings Always, Roxy
Oh, that plaid theme for the picnic was really cute. Did anyone come?? xo
There are some pretty creative ideas here. I have never been a huge fan of gold, EXCEPT on my wedding and engagement rings...which were stolen by the Verizon guys. :(
What wonderful ideas and so pretty!! Love the sprayed mason jars and handmade garland. I always have been a silver girl but, I could change to gold. Sounds like you and your daughter will have lots of fun planning the ceremony!!
Hugs,
Jody
I would have never thought of combining pink and gold! It looks so lovely together... I'm shocked! You and your daughter did a great job with the decor and appears with a good budget savings approach. The fireplace mantel is always a great focal point and it's done up beautifully. What a great save on the mason jars pained, so rich looking.
Thanks for sharing some great party tips for us.
Blessings, Edie Marie
lovely color combo, jann:) your mantle is darling with the jars and garlands--love the old mirror, too.
What a great idea! I'm always inspired by spray paint revamps, but the mess puts me off. This sounds like it would be quite contained though. Thanks so much for sharing!
