Fall Greetings on the Front Porch

Although the last two days were 15 degrees warmer than usual today we are back to our normal fall weather.

Perfect timing for my Fall Greetings out on the front porch. . .

DSC03341

The minute I saw this idea on Pinterest I knew that I wanted to make one.  I had the perfect large pillow that I had bought a couple years ago from T.J. Maxx.  It was just a matter of stenciling the words on burlap and making a pillow cover for it.
If you’d like to know how I made it, I shared instructions on Hometalk

DSC03343

It turned out to be the perfect size for my vintage glider.  Originally I was NOT going to pick my pumpkins until Oct.  but I just couldn’t resist adding one next to the pillow.  The long vine was so cute I had to leave it attached until it shrivels.

Now I’d like you to meet, Twiggy.  This cute stand is a new thrift find.  Funny how something as inexpensive as $7 can brighten your day!  I bought the watering can a few years ago at an antique shop.  I love the orange spout!

DSC03319

Well, you knew I couldn’t pick just one. lol!  I did leave a few larger ones on the vine.

DSC03349

Oh and ya, I plucked a bowl full of ‘Baby Boo’s’ too.

DSC03347

And ‘Orange’ ya glad I didn’t pass up this hanging sap bucket with the orange trim when I ran across it on our vacay in Napa?

DSC03351

Hangs so cute on my chippy white ladder.  I planted it with Basil, A Flowering Kale, and then I tucked in one of my sunflower heads.  Stay away birds!  lol!  (this will make more sense later).

You know how much I love decorating my porch.  That was one of the stipulations when we were shopping for a new home. . .it HAD to have a porch!

DSC03345

My friend, Joyce gave me the rusty ‘harvest moon’ years ago.  Her hubby made it.  So of course I had to add my rusty springs topped with some ‘baby boo’s’.

DSC03346

I placed my giant sunflower head out on the porch before I left for my getaway with my quilting friends.  By the time I got home seeds were everywhere and the birds had picked it clean.

My cute sunflower milk bottle and copper tackle box (a thrift and estate sale find), were the perfect accents to sit at the leg of the drop leaf table.  Remember when milk came in bottles like that?

DSC03318

My cute spreader continues to ‘spread sunshine’ on the other side of the porch.  I tucked a rickety old piece of picket fencing behind and hung a rusty enamel pitcher from it with a bit of burlap.  I filled the pitcher with a few of my Limelight Hydrangea blooms.  The bench is empty for now because there’s a lot going on out here.

Things will change for Halloween and I love this idea I pinned today from B. H. and Garden

This yellow chair sits on the other side of the door.  The only thing new I did to it is add the little Fall banner.

For now I pulled a few sickly plants out of the urns at the top of the step and added a couple of Mums.

DSC03331

It’s only a few days until the actual arrival of Fall so let me be one of the first to say,
Happy Fall ya’all!

hugs,

Jann

Your porch is beautiful. I love to decorate for Fall but it's hard to get in the mood to do it here in GA where it's still hot!

Love your fall porch Jann. So many wonderful touches. I especially like that twig stand you got and the vintage plaid picnic tin/basket. And the red glider. So nice you have pumpkins to go pick! (and btw, I've decided, regretfully, to pass on the teapot w/ pink cover. sigh. thanks, though). xo, Deborah

When we built our home a porch was a requirement. Sadly, the last few years I've not kept it updated and fun but I'm newly inspired by your amazing porch decor! Everything looks wonderful, but I am crazy for that metal picnic basket. I've not seen one in those colors but I am on the hunt now! Thanks for sharing your creativity, and for stopping by my blog.

What a darling porch! Anyone stepping on that porch would know instantly they were welcome - well, maybe not all of the hungry birds.
