Hello my friends and welcome to day 5 of 'Creating Christmas'
Today we will be sharing our Christmas Porches and Outdoor Spaces with Kimberly over at Camp and Cottage Living
This year the LDS church has adopted the #LighttheWorld
Each day they suggest us doing something to do exactly that.
(a special lantern that belonged to my father in law)
Whether you are LDS or not, it is a great reminder for all of us to serve others and be a little kinder this time of year!
I've had a lot on my plate and have not done as much service as I would have liked to, but still, I think of this # and incorporate it into my daily life. Simple things like letting someone go in front of me in the line at Wal-mart, Or stopping and letting a car get out of a parking lot at a busy time of day.
Although the lanterns I tied to my old apple ladder do not actually light up, they are a subtle reminder of me to spread some
'light' each day.
I used them on my ladder a few years ago and enjoyed them so much I added them again this year.
Now, for the rest of the porch.
The chippy filing cabinet remains on the porch for a while. It's a bit heavy and hubby and I get tired of wheeling it off. I'm sure he is thanking me for that! lol!
I used the remaining ornaments left over from my wreath and filled two old galvanized buckets. Hubby tied them to rope hanging from my rusty old pulley.
I hung a whispy wreath from one of the drawers.
Last week a friend and I were at a thrift shop when one of the employees wheeled out a cart with two of these deer on it. We couldn't grab them up fast enough. :) They were only $5 BUCKS! Catch the pun?
I love using fresh greens out on the porch. Every year I give my father in laws trees a good trimming.
This year I also bought a garland and swag from Costco for
the door.
I kept it simple and just added a few red jingle bells and rusty stars here and there.
More bells on the swag.
I tucked more green and some giant bells inside of my vintage cream separator and placed it on one side of the door.
This cabinet usually sits in front of our family room window on a stand. The tree now resides there, so it found it's way out on to the porch. I placed a wooden tree (a thrift find), some pots, and a few ornaments inside. It sits upon the white drop leaf table that once belonged to my hubbies grandparents that I topped with burlap. I painted the Santa yeas ago. Back when I taught tole painting.
Simplicity on the door standing in the corner of the porch.
I placed a couple of Alberta Spruce in my urns and draped a garland I made by stinging cranberries around them.
Merry Christmas from our front porch to yours!
Merry Christmas!
Jann

I LOVE the lanterns on the ladder idea, and the buckets of bulbs hanging from the pulley are fantastic!
Beautiful lanterns. Love all your rustic decor. So pretty! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Oh Jann, everything looks amazing on your front porch. You did an outstanding job on decorating. Love the deer, great find.
Have a Very Merry Christmas.
Hugs,
Mary
Your porch looks so festive and welcoming, Jann!! Lovely way to welcome guests to your beautiful home!!
Jann-I love this post. From the lanterns to the $5 buck bucks and beyond. Make sure to check the back of my car if I visit-you will be looking for the green cream separator. lol
It all looks lovely-very welcoming.
Here is your smile for the day. I always try to let others go ahead of me or step back and let someon take my place. This morning- waiting in line for Starbucks- I waved a car ahead of me..another car came around fast and jumped line ahead of me, too. Now- I was right behind her and she would not make eye contact...lol
I get up to the window and my friend was working there..I said - I was hoping that gal ahead of me would jump the curb (which often happens at our drive thru due to the set-up). She laughed merrily, handed me my coffee and I drove off- still a bit miffed and thinking black thoughts about THAT one. Tasted my coffee--I got the wrong drink so had to go back. Took it inside and they took me ahead of all the other orders standing there. lol I think it was God's way of telling me---Don't think bad thoughts! lol xo Diana
You have the most gorgeous front porch and your decorations look perfect! I've really enjoyed visiting many of the ladies that took part in this party. I just wanted to stop by and say thanks and Merry Christmas! Hugs, Diane

Jann, your front entry is very festive and welcoming. I love the texture of the stone mixed with the brick and the wood door with the sidelights. Merry Christmas!
I love your decorations, especially the pulley - I could never pull that off here, but it just reminds me of Christmases past! Enjoy the holiday season!
Love that lantern ladder! Great idea!
I love all the details, especially the lanterns! The greens add so much too to tie it all together.
Delightful! I love all the details!

Your porch is so pretty -- I really love the ladder with the lanterns. And the bucket of shiny balls. But truly, it's all just terrific.
