Last Fall hubby and I took a road trip through Idaho and Montana. While in Idaho I saw something that I have wanted to create ever since.
I’m sure that most of you are familiar with Mary Janes Farm. Not only does she have books full of inspiration, but for the last few years she has had her very own magazine.
I’m cheating just a bit on this copy cat because I didn’t actually see it in one of her books or magazines, but in her store.
That’s right folks, there’s a Mary Jane’s Farm store in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Fun whimsical store full of inspiration.
Do you remember my vintage lamp redo?
Well it needed a shade to go with it.
Last Friday two of my friends came over and we went outside and created a shade in the shade. lol! I decorated mine with pieces of vintage laces, doilies, and old buttons. Still thinking I might need to add some pearls. I am showing a few pics so you can see all sides.
Sorry, this one is a bit blurry.
Mine found a home in the living room. I’m wondering if I need to take down the piece of old tin?
My friend Joyce wanted to make one using a weavers type muslin.
Didn’t it turn out cute?
Last October she made this one to go out on her porch for Halloween. It’s full of all kinds of fun trinkets.
Amanda wanted to make hers for her sewing room. She decorated hers with lace and sewing notions.
My shade is not the perfect fit for my lamp so I had to jimmy rig it to fit. I will keep my eyes out for a better one, but for now I’m kind of liking my shabby lace shade.
Hugs,
Jann

well, that is a bummer...you had a fun party and I didn't get there....I have got to make one of those. I have a small lamp to do it on....
don't take down the tin....have you thought about putting the lamp a bit behind the chair...that way the tin and the shade won't compete...just a thought!!
These are so creative. I've made them with the torn muslin before and always got so many compliments. Love all the embellishments and different textures you all used!
How much fun you all must have had, crafting together. I only have one friend who loves to do as I do,but alas she lives an hour away and doesn't drive. Would love to have days like yours.
The shades are so good. I think yes you should take down the tin decoration on the wall,as it detracts from your lamp. Would love a shade like Amanda's for my sewing room. Thanks for the ideas. x
Oh How fun!~ Those are all adorable, every single one of them. I may have to try this sometime. I love embellishing lamp shades and this takes it to a whole new level. Thanks for joining in on the fun!
How cute, Jann. All three of them are darling and so different from each other. What fun to do that project with your friends- xo Diana
