I Can Dish it Out!

Oh my friends, I’m telling you that I have such a weakness for pretty dishes.  Especially seasonal ones.

Old or new they have me wrapped around their little finger.

You might say. . .I can dish it out. . .but I can’t take it.  Take what?  I can’t take it when someone says “you don’t need anymore dishes”.  Sure, I agree; but alas I don’t have a lot of will power when I spy a pretty dish.

Here’s a peek into just three of my cabinets.  I have a lot of kitchen cabinets so I’ll just let you imagine what might be lurking behind closed doors.

This is my pitcher collection.  Did I mention that they are two deep?  Sick, sick, I know!

Now for a few plates and bowls. Oh my gosh, just noticed the top shelf is bowing.  Better move that stack of heavy plates.  Ha, ha, remembered that my 6 green bowls are in the dishwasher.  They would normally be next to the red bowls.

Just a few of my serving bowls.

Now that I’ve let you peek inside my cupboards I’ll show you what is out on display right now for Spring.

Love this sweet pink and green combo!

I think my mottos is:  Rack em and stack em. lol!  Collecting dishes is (in the famous words of Dorkus Lane, from Larkrise to Candleford) my ‘one weakness’.

Did I mention that my entire island cupboards are filled with seasonal dishes? Like I said – sick, sick!

Do you have a weakness for pretty dishes?  Please say ‘yes’!

I’d like my hubby to know that I’m not the only sick woman out there!

hugs,

Jann

You had me at polka dots and stripes. Oh, they are all so cute!

When we downsized to our little cottage, I gave away so many sets of dishes. I used to have a set of 8 with each of the dishes a different color. I could do one person with all the same color or do a plate in one, bowl in another, salad plate in another. I wish I had not given them away, but we really do not have any extra space.

Have fun decorating your table for Easter.

Oh, how delightful, Jann! I love all your soft pastel dishes. You have so many pretty patterns! I confess that I've been busily working on the Elizabeth's Easter Swap at 521 Lake Street that I have hardly put out any of my Spring pretties. Your post inspires me and gets me excited about pulling out some of my bunnies and things.
Have a sweet day, dear
Smiles,

I have a weakness for them too; however, when we moved in December for the first time in 23 years, I got rid of every single one, except my wedding china and white dinnerware. Just purchased a new hutch, so guess what? TROUBLE. ;)
Happy pinks!

Love all the colors - the cherry bowls and so much more. Love the pinks and greens. Hey, I have one of those bowls in the pyramid. The green pyrex w/white interior. I have the red, blue, green and yellow ones that stack. If only I had the room ... love dishes!
Enjoyed your post.
Thanks, Jenn

The answer is Yes! I have a horrible weakness for pretty dishes. When we moved back to CA from our brief sojourn in Draper (just up the road from you) I gave away four sets of dishes. I've tried to keep it under control by only buying accent pieces since then but the cupboards are beginning to bulge! I love your pink and green dishes. That green polka dot dish is really fun!
Have a happy St. Patrick's Day!

Ha! Yes! I do have a weakness for pretty dishes too. In fact, I went out to "do a couple errands" on Saturday. I stopped by the P.O. and then high-tailed it to a new-to-me thrift store. I came home with three boxes of random vintage dishes! My husband just rolls his eyes and shakes his head. There could be worse addictions, right? :)

Thanks for linking up!

Dear Jann Olson's husband:

How are you? I am fine.

Just a note to let you know that your dear, sweet wife is not the only one afflicted with "Never-Met-A-Dish-I-Didn't-Like-itis". There are so, so many of us out there wandering the aisles of boutiques, sashaying through malls, and letting our fingers do the walking all over the computer keyboard in search of that which will quell our "one weakness." Don't be mad at her! Don't send her away to Dish Rehab. Be kind and gently encourage her because, in case you didn't get the memo...when Mama ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy! :-)

Very sincerely yours,
Alycia - Another One of the Afflicted
