Today I have been busily pulling out my Fall décor.  I am enjoying the cooler temps and bit of rain, but I am also sad to see summer coming to an end.  I have been tending my 3 year old granddaughter, Saydee.  We took a trip up by the mouth of the canyon and gathered some of nature’s natural beauty.

Don’t you love it when you can gather beautiful things to work into your decorating?

Here’s what caught my eye from last weeks SYC.

Darcy from The Ruffled Stitch created this amazing duvet using white sheets.

Adrienne from La Vie Quotidienne made a beautiful arrangement with her Hydrangeas in an old bucket.

How cute is this mannequin all dressed and ready for Fall by Pat from On Crooked Creek?

I love this farmhouse centerpiece created by Susan from Must Love Junk.

Debra from Homespun shared some amazing photos of the ‘happy’ bees in her garden.

Lady B's Time for Tea hosted a special ‘Peter Rabbit’ tea for her grandchildren.  You must go see how sweet the other children are!  Do you think they had fun?  This face says it all!

Linens and Lace. . .

Hello my friends, I know that many of you like me have a love for linens and lace.

Especially vintage linens and lace, with hand stitched edges!

I have rounded a few of mine up and hung them from an old trellis.

What once was a support for a climbing vine in the garden is now a display piece in my basement bath for linens.

No windows so it’s hard to get great photos.

I love the detail of the embroidery work.

Sweet bonnet girls with bouquets of flowers.

Now let’s take a peek at a few more.  A simple piece hanging over a cabinet door or draped from the top adds a bit of charm.

Tatted edge on this doily takes it from simple to sweet!

I always check out the linens and lace at estate sales.  Just bought this one for $1 last week.

A closer look at my pitcher and bowl.  A recent yard sale find for $3.

I found this beauty at the same estate sale.  It was waded up in a ball in the sewing room.  I thought it was just a piece of lace.  It was stained, but I thought I could use bits and pieces.  I brought it home and washed it with Biz.  Wasn’t until after that I realized it was a light pink lace tablecloth.

See how it has a finished edge.  Who knew?  I paid $2 for this sweet thing!

I have been decorating a guest bedroom in our basement.  I draped it over the bottom of the bed.

I could not get a decent picture of these gorgeous lace curtains.  My friend, Amanda got them at a thrift shop.  Perfect in the bedroom!

This dainty pincushion is two small linens laced together with ribbon.  $5 from Fleattitude.

Let’s quickly walk upstairs and see what we might find. . .

My cousin, Betty just made me this darling pillow from a linen table topper for my birthday.  Isn’t it wonderful?

I had my eye on this beauty at Thanksgiving Point for quite some time.  I wasn’t about to pay $100.

They had one left at their ‘big’ sale.  Guess who snagged it for $35?

Nothing quite like linens and lace!

That’s Just Peachy!

 

A few weeks ago I went to Vernal , UT with my sister, Jeanne and her daughter, Shaleace.

In one of the gift shops I found this cute wrap around burlap bow.  It was only $2.99 and I just knew it would look darling around one of my many glass jars.  Isn’t that just ‘peachy’?

Wouldn’t you know it, It was either too small or too big for any of my jars.  And I have quite a few.

Well then a few days later a package arrived from Décor Steals.  Oh yes!  My seltzer bottle that I had ordered.  You couldn’t choose a color.  Just had to take what they sent you, clear, green, or aqua.  That was alright with me, but of course I was hoping for aqua.

When I opened the box much to my surprise it was aqua.  Right then and there I heard angels singing.  I swear there had to be some kind of  divine intervention.  I could picture the good Lord opening the heavens, pointing a finger down at the aqua bottle, and saying, “Send her that one”.

Now of course I am only kidding.  Heaven knows that the good Lord could care less what color of seltzer bottle I got.  Don’t get me wrong, I do believe he cares about the little things.  I mean, I can’t tell you how many times he has helped me find my keys or started the weed eater.  Yes, I pray about things like that.  I also think that he has a sense of humor.  He’d have to in order to put up with all of us!

Well guess who decided to try the burlap wrap on her seltzer bottle?  Voila!  Perfect fit!  Isn’t that just ‘peachy’?

I imagine that all this talk about things being ‘peachy’ has got you craving some luscious peaches.

I have just the recipe to satisfy that?

My sister, Julie made this for us when she was up visiting and I’ve made it since.  It is so yummy!

Mix together:  1 box (coarsely) crushed Vanilla Wafers, 1 cube melted butter, and 1/2 c. pdrd. sugar. 

Sprinkle 3/4 mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 pan.  I used one just a tad smaller.

Cut fresh peaches over the top.  Mine were kind of small so I used 10.

Cover with whipped cream and top with remaining crumbs.  You can add a few chopped pecans into the crumbs if you’d like.

Especially pretty on one of  my aqua edged Pyrex saucers.

So easy and delicious!  Now isn’t that just  ‘peachy’?

The Makings of a Vignette. . .

Yesterday I went for a hair cut.  Afterwards I thought I would stop off at our local thrift.  Bet you can’t guess what I was hoping to find. . .yup, another picnic hamper.

Well, didn’t find that, but soon I was tossing a few items into my cart.

As I headed out to the yard area to see if there was any other special ‘junk’ I glanced into my cart.  I realized that I had the makings of a fun vignette.  And yes, I did find something fun in the yard that I will share later.

This is just a little ‘sneak peek’.

I found this large tray for $1.50

The little glass (whatever) I thought I would use as a mjni cloche and the bottle with the silver trim were both $.50

I knew right away that this $3 candlestick would be great for Halloween.

Not wanting to wait I thought I would throw together a Fall vignette.

This morning two of my friends and I went to an estate sale.  Afterwards we stopped by T.J. Maxx.  I told myself that I was ‘NOT’ going to buy Fall or Halloween!

Well, guess who had to eat their words.

I bought a pumpkin and an owl. . .but look how cute they are!  At $9.99 ea. I couldn’t resit.  I love the plaid fabric and the wooden stem on the pumpkin.  And those owl eyes, sigh!

My friend Peggy gave me a belated birthday gift.  It was a wire basket full of goodies.  Tied to the top was this sunflower and burlap.  I wrapped the stem with a piece of green ribbon and added it and a couple of numbers to the pumpkin.

I googled to see when the first day of Autumn was.  Wouldn’t you know that it is Sept. 22nd.  Darn, I only had one #2.  So I did the next best thing, 30 days till Autumn.  Really though, I think I will change it to a 9 for Sept.  Doubt I will count down the days.  Oh, and I forgot to mention that I got a baggie of the wooden numbers at T.J’s for $2.

I added some acorns and berries inside the cloche, a paper feather, and a piece of parchment  paper that I slightly curled the ends.

I love mixing the old with the new.

All sitting atop my thrifted tray.  Easy Peasy. . .A Fall vignette!

I just played with it a little today.  It won’t come out until September.  Who knows, by then it may change a little.

Don’t you love it when something comes together that easy?

I don’t know about you, but I am getting a bit of ‘Fall Fever’.  Although it’s been hot during the day you can feel a touch of Fall in the morning.   At Home With Jemma took an Americana wreath she had made and updated it into this Fall beauty.

I am a lover of both caramel and maple.  So of course this luscious cake by Winnish had me drooling!
