Good Golly Miss Molly. . .

Hubby was away fishing for the weekend, so on Sat.  My sister, Jeanne and friend, Joyce, and I decided we’d hit a near by yard sale.

I found a few things, but nothing to write home about.  After I dropped Joyce off and headed home I started seeing more yard sale signs.  They were right on my way so I pulled off to check them out.

I found a sweet picnic hamper at one.  Had it been a week ago I probably would’ve resisted.  Loved it, but really didn’t need it.  Even though it was especially large and had never been used.  All of it’s contents were still wrapped in plastic.

But this is what made me say, “Yes, take it home!”

Debra from Common Ground linked up her ‘Late Summer Sideboard’ décor to Share Your Cup.  Notice her fabulous stack of hampers?

Oh my blog friends, “Why do you do this to me?  lol!

I have a feeling that this is not the only one I will pick up.

Love that plaid!

I don’t know about you, but it made me want to have a picnic!  I didn’t have much but I did have some fresh peaches I had bought on my way home Sat.  And look at that cheese, YUM!  Hee-hee, it’s fake cheese I borrowed from the playhouse.

IMG_1911

I had to play with it a while.  Doesn’t it look cute with my ‘Molly’ sitting next to it?

IMG_1915

Now here’s the thing.  She looks like a ‘Molly’ to me.  Don’t ask me why, just does.

IMG_1916

But nope, her name is ‘Hannah’.  Guess I should be saying, “Holy Hannah” instead of “Good Golly Miss Molly”.

On the table next to my watermelon décor.

Just found this sweet little creamer at a thrift for $.50.  Perfect for watermelon seeds.  None of those seedless watermelons for me!

IMG_1920

And of course I have to show you my darling give away win from Sweet Bee Cottage.

IMG_1924

The aqua is perfect for my kitchen!  Love the darling kitchen towel and the ‘one pan recipes’ cookbook and cutting board will be put to good use.

IMG_1923

Thank you, thank you Janelle!

Not quite as fun as two, but I finished with a picnic for one.  Cottage cheese and sweet 100 tomatoes from the garden.  I could eat 100 of these!  Usually I just pop them in my mouth whenever I’m outside.  Luscious grapes, and yes; that cheese!

IMG_1926

Hope you get in at least one last picnic before summer ends!

After playing, this is where it ended up.  Wouldn’t a stack be wonderful?

Love your picnic basket!

Years ago, I use to have a similar one, but I made the mistake of laying it flat on a tall piece of furniture, and our kitty, the one who always preferred to observe the world from up high, made it her bed.

A stack would certainly be wonderful next to that beautiful antique door!

Great post, Jann! I do love the plaid in that picnic basket! Not too many picnics around here - this summer, we have had so much rain and most years, it is too hot. Maybe, the fall will be better!

Jann, I am loving that basket. I want one now. We have the worst yard sales around here. All garbage and I am not exaggerating at all. Good for your girl!!

I am going to have to start looking for these as they look great stacked. We're off for a family picnic next week at a Museum (a family reunion) and I am so tempted to get on the train with a hamper full of goodies but it may be a bit heavy after two hours! Keep looking!! xx

I use to go to garage sales years ago. But there really nothing but junk now days. It really is a shame. We use to get up early on a Friday or a Saturday and go treasure hunting. I have always loved picnic baskets. But I have really simplified things around here. I love your blog! And I love your taste and style, so cozy!

Your picnic basket reminds me of the one my dad gave me when I headed off to college. I still have it! I like Debra's stack of baskets. What is it about picnic baskets that is inherently charming?
