Dressing Up an Old Dresser. . .

You might remember this old dresser that I got at a yard sale a month or so ago for $10.

Many of you said that you wanted to see what I did with it.

Originally I had planned on lining the drawers with plastic and burlap and planting right inside them.

We have been contemplating on building a potting shed up on our hill behind our pondless waterfall.

Thinking that I might want to use this dresser in there I opted to do something different.  I didn’t want the drawers to rot out from watering.

After dressing up the dresser a little I placed some old tins that I have had for years inside and planted them with Begonias.

I loved the rustic look of this dresser and didn’t even mind how it looked with some of the paint remaining.

However, I wanted the feel of a seed box, so I painted the drawers white, sanded them and then Modge Podged floral graphics onto the front.  The rope handles carry on the seed box idea.

It’s sits on our deck right outside the doors coming out from our kitchen.  This photo was taken right after I did it.  The Begonias are much larger now.

I left the top and sides with the unfinished look.  A wire basket sits on top.  It holds a small urn planted with a bit of moss that I dug up from my garden, some vintage tools, and my cute bird twine holder.

A little polka dot potted pansy in a metal planter and an old bug sprayer sit next to the wire basket.

She’s a little rough around the edges, but what a darling!

I normally would have tossed something like that, but after seeing so many people being so creative, I am changing my way of thinking. I might become much more creative with furnishings when I move to a new home!
