Hello my friends, Just heading out to explore beautiful Napa Valley.
Wanted to hop in and share the treasures that I picked up along the way.
Whenever we go on a road trip hubby is so sweet to humor me. He’s willing to get off of the freeway, travel roads less traveled, and stop at shops and scenic places. Saturday morning we headed out and drove as far as Reno, NV.
While driving from Reno to Napa yesterday I found some fun finds!
Driving through one town we saw an ‘estate sale’ sign. Scored two sweet little hurricane lamps.
And a few old books. Love the patina on that first one!
This book shows you how to make flowers out of crepe paper. I thought it might be fun to try making a few.
At a thrift shop I found an old Pioneer cook book, some utensils that look like they came across the plains. lol!, and two mustard colored handmade doilies.
At another thrift I scored some old Monopoly pieces in a small box. No game board, but I loved that the houses were wooden. I wonder if the board came in a separate box?
As we were driving along we saw a sign that said, ‘Barn Sale’. I was so excited and could hardly wait! It brought back memories of a barn sale that my girlfriends and I found while driving down the freeway in OR a couple years ago. That one was fabulous! This one, not so much. I walked away empty handed.
But a stop into a consignment shop was well worth it. I picked up a bundle of crochet hot pads and doilies, a cute cherry butter dish (that just happens to match a few other cherry pieces I own), and. . .
a green cheese shaker. Not vintage, but still that wonderful ‘vintage green’ color that I love!
Hope you have a great week and find a few treasures of your own!
hugs,
Jann

Wow...you really scored some great finds!
Hi Jann! I am here catcher up today! I have been busier than a one armed paper hanger! Had all of the grands over the weekend! Phew!
LOVE all of your finds from todays post! Do me a favor. Ask hubby if he will take ME along next time too, so I can shop with you. My hubby never stops for me!!!
Your garden cabbage and onions looked wonderful! And the flowers too!!!! Your salad is very similar to mine, but I don't use the packet of seasoning in the ramen. And I use rice vinegar.
Have a great time on your trip!!!
xo Kris

Sounds like fun travels so far, Jann! Love those old books.
That butter dish is to die for. Do you know who makes it? Perhaps I can find one just like it on ebay. Thanks! -Bev
No, the Monopoly board was loose...no second box. The board folded in half and had a Monopoly label in the middle of one side. My grandmother had such a set.

The colors!!
Great finds Jann! I love treasure hunting while traveling :)
It is as much fun listening( okay, reading) to your trip and the finds as it is going on them! I love reading about what other's find and what makes them feel happy about what was found.
I think my favorites are the hurricane lamps! Really neat with the etching.
I too, just found an old monopoly set at a rummage sale...and loved the wooden houses. The boards usually came along without a box. At least, this is how we find all of the old games.... Parcheesi was like that and the Uncle Wiggily game we had for a while.
Love your treasures, especially the lamps!
That's an adorable butter dish!
What amazing finds...my hubby is good about that too...this year I had to really resist the urge because we found out that we were getting a lake cottage right before we left for vacation and I wanted to save my money for decorating that...it was hard but I am so excited and I know it will be worth it this time. Love love love the cherry butter dish and the pretty linens and crocheted items.
Now we will be seeing new vignettes in your home with your new scores!
