Where Bloggers Create

Hello, and welcome!
(I am joining two special parties.  Click HERE if you are visiting from Vanessa's  Mad Tea Party)

This is the third year that I have joined Karen's wonderful
Where Bloggers Create party.

It's a party that I look forward to every year!

I must admit that I have hardly changed a thing in my creative space.

Yesterday  when I was in there tidying things up a little so that I could snap photos I decided I would show you what the barn doors look like closed.

I was even excited to see what it looked like.  Can you believe that I haven't closed them since we finished the room 3 years ago?  lol!

I just like looking at my 'stuff'!

I love anything numbered so the minute I spied these baskets at Home Goods I snatched them up.

Baskets and bottles fill every nook and cranny.

I received this cute heart box filled with treasures from a Valentine exchange.  I've used a lot of it, but it was too cute to store out of sight.

My favorite place to shop for bottles is thrift shops.  I love using old sugar containers for bits of ribbon and trim.
I pick them up for $1.

I also have a weakness for any type of vintage storage.  Metal or wood.

The drawers in the bottom box are perfect for 12 x 12 paper.
I've debated about painting the two vintage boxes, but I kind of like their time worn look.

Love old muffin tins for corralling little goodies!

I painted a few old wooden bowls to hold small items for a particular project.

Little shakers are perfect for those little embellishments.

I scored this rolling table at a yard sale for $2.  Perfect accessory next to my craft table.

My work table is an old laundry table.
Every year I think I will make cloth bags to hang from the hooks and it hasn't happened yet.

My heart soared when I spied this cabinet at a damaged goods store last year.
It satisfied two of my loves:  numbers and cubbies.

But what I really love about it, is that it really isn't small cubbies.  Yeah cubbies are great, but where was I going to store my three filing cabinets of paper and kits?

Four sections of the bottom cubbies open up to be three doors.  Perfect indeed!  Meant to be if you ask me.  :)

The top three open up to a total of 6 drawers.  Really holds lots of goodies!

See that drawer #7?
That leads me to another two of my favorites.
The number 7 and the letter O.

I have plenty of them in this room.

O is for Olson of course, and 7 because we have 7 in our family and my birthday is in July.

This desk once belonged to my daddy.  He passed away when I was 9 months old so it holds a special place in my heart.

Recently I picked up a box of these darling bird cards at an estate sale.

I strung them across the shelves so I could enjoy the pretty bird images for a while.

Some other storage items:

a magazine rack holds music and books for paper crafts.
A basket full of crinkle paper and moss

A decorated wooden crate holds scrapbooks.  The one in front was my mothers.

Trays and small baskets are perfect for keeping craft items
 close by.

I found the thread caddy at a flea for $5.

I'll leave you with a few shots of the room.

(more numbered cubbies)

Now that I tidied my room for this post I wonder if I can get back to finishing this?

I want to cover the twig nest I made from the trimmings of my trumpet vine with moss, feathers, and bits of paper and fabric.
Build my own nest, sort of speak.

And cover the eggs with old stamps.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoyed my 'creative space'.

Looking forward to seeing your special place!
hugs,
Jann

Your room is certainly evidence of your creativity! It is just full of so many creative displays.
I love that you are able to have your father's desk. Those pieces that my father made for me are the ones most dear to me too.

When Jesus said, "I go to prepare a place for you," I think this is the room he was talking about for me (If I'm really, really good!). LOVE everything in it and completely understand why you wouldn't close the doors. The display itself is art!

Oh my gosh, Jann, what a great space you have! Love those barn doors. They were the first thing to catch my eye when I started to read your post. It's funny that you never close them. Sometimes our supplies are so pretty we just want to look at them and not keep them closed away.

Love the size of your space and the natural light. Maybe you will get to those fabric bags this year. I know I always feel inspired to do something in my space after this particular linky party. That cabinet you found is great! I love that the bottom opens up as doors. I'd love to be able to have a piece like that in my space.

Thanks so much for sharing your space! Happy Birthday! My Mom and granddaughter share July as a birthday month, too.
