Embracing Summer. . .

Hello my friends,
Hard to believe that July is coming to an end and before we know it the kids will be heading back to school and we'll be diving right into Fall.

Our weather has been cooler lately and I have felt a touch of Fall in the air.

It's going to warm up and be right where it should be for the month of Aug.

So I decided that I would not wish away the summer, but embrace it instead!

I've decorated the front porch in shades of pink, red, and aqua.

I made a little summer banner to drape across my old window.

It's very simple and took little time to make.  I simply cut banner shapes out of poster board and added scrapbook paper with spray glue.  Then I modge podged chipboard letters and sprinkled them with red glitter.  Again I used spray glue to adhere them to the banner.  A few thrifted beads, scraps of ribbon, and bakers twine. . .
 there you have it.

This urn that I found on clearance at a local shop, Dear Lizzies was the inspiration for the colors.
I tucked a piece of burlap inside to hide the pot.
and
look at this beautiful geranium I picked up marked down to $4 at Walmart.

I deadheaded it and gave it a shot of Miracle Grow.  Should put on a show soon.

I threw in touches of aqua because I still had the old filing cabinet out there and didn't want to move it.  :)

I brought out my chippy chair for a pop of pink.

And I brought my bike around from the back yard.

Of course we couldn't stop there.  hee-hee!  My pink cabinet needed to come out as well.

I placed a few of my old clocks in it for 'summer time'.

My Herb Cemetery is doing well and I just moved them around a little bit.

A pink watermelon hangs on the door.

The Agapanthus planted in the urns on each side of the porch and my hanging geraniums add more floral color.

The Daisies have gotten huge.  In fact, I had to cut one down because it was blocking the sprinkler.

This Kale came back from last year.  We had such a mild winter.

It truly is a jungle out there!  lol!  These sunflowers reseed every year.  This is the first year that I don't have any large ones.  Next year I will pull them out.  In fact, I'll be pulling these out soon.
But for now, the birds are loving them!

How about you?  Are you anxious for Fall or embracing summer?

hugs,

You're so good! Everything still looks so pretty at your house but it is because you have that touch of fall in the air. Your flowers all look so pretty and I absolutely love all of your cute touches. That banner is adorable.

We are living in an OVEN. I won't complain though because at least we have sufficient water. :)

Jann, I'm embracing summer too! I enjoy all the daylight and early morning walks, and today our humidity was low so the high temps didn't feel so high, comparatively. Funny, I didn't get any sunflowers to sprout this year! If you remember, we talked about the volunteers last year. I had cleaned up the seeds under the feeder (I guess) a little better than last year, so none sprouted. :( All of your outdoor decor looks great - love the herb cemetery. :)

Your porch and yard truly look inviting and so wonderful with all the pretty blooming flowers and plants. I do love the geranium you purchased at Walmart. Quite unique. I do think I would like to embrace summer for just a bit longer. Fall will come soon enough!

A touch of fall, did you say? Oh, how I'd like to be able to experience that! We are well into triple digits. Yuck! Wish my geraniums were looking as healthy and perky as yours. ;-)

Well, for us school has begun for some and the rest start Monday, so that part of summer is over. I never like to wish away my days but summer is so awfully hot that, I do look forward to a bit cooler temps. Your patio display is so nice and I love the colors you have chosen! Enjoy the days of summer as you sit and sip your tea! Blessings, Cindy

We've only had about 10 days of real summer here in Chicagoland…so no--not ready for Fall.

Love your pinked porch…cute and yes-embrace today, summer is so short for some of us.

Everything looks beautiful. After I take my daughter to work in awhile, I'm going to sit and sew on my dress. Finally. I need to make time for things I enjoy.

I have just decided that you are amazing!

I live in a house probably 1/3 the size of yours and the same with my garden. I can barely keep up with my small space. How in the world do you keep everything decorated, neat and tidy?

and I am no where NEAR ready for fall...this has been the shortest summer ever. We will have summery weather here in West Texas thru Sept. So, yep, I am totally hanging on to summer with all I've got.

I think the pink wire urn is my favorite with the cute "rescued" geranium in it. It's all lovely though, you really place things nicely!

Summer is such a short season in Maine so one has to embrace it and enjoy its bountiful beauty.

Love the pink and aqua! It all goes great together. Fall is my favorite season but I am still trying to embrace what is left of Summer. Going to a Red Sox game today at Fenway Park!

I absolutely love this summer décor, Jann! I wish I could say that it's at least cooler here in NC --- waiting for that. Still embracing this season, though --- thanks for the reminder. Sending blessings!

Not ready at all for fall, but I'm afraid it'll be here before you know it. Our temps are so hot, we're still in summer mode. But I'm loving your porch decor, Jann!! So much chippy and vintage goodies along with your gorgeous flowers. The banner you made is so cute too.

Jann - I swore last winter when we had such awful cold temps that when summer came, I wouldn't complain. But, we went straight from rain, rain, and more rain to stifling heat! But, I have survived

Very pretty porch. I'm with you - while I love fall I'm not ready for summer to end yet. So we are still trying to fit in as much swimming, hiking, and outdoor time as we can before school starts.

I am co-hosting the #HomeMattersParty link party this month and would love to have you stop by for a visit. The current party ends tonight but another one will start up on Friday. http://alaynascreations.co/2015/07/31/home-matters-link-party-48/

Jann,
Thanks for dropping by!! I am enjoying my new Part Time schedule....
I love all your pretty Summer decor! I am so looking forward to fall though. The heat and humidity here in NEPA has been awful....I do not do well with that from an arthritis stand point so I have really been feeling it.....

Those daisies are insane, Jann! LOL It's been a very hot summer here, but the flowers I planted are doing fantastic. I just keep them very well-watered and feed them weekly with Bloom Booster. They reward me with beautiful blooms. Love all the pretty summer touches on your porch. Pink and aqua are lovely together. I enjoy all the seasons, but summer has to be my favorite. I love having the windows open in the morning and hearing the bird song. Hugs, Nancy

Such a sweet porch, love your summer banner... we have had a lot of temps in the 90's with heat index in 100's, but this week suppose to go down to the 80's so that will be nicer, I do love the fall but it seems to turn from summer to winter pretty quickly, I would love a longer fall season

Will you come out here to California and make my porch look like yours? Oh my, I love everything about it, especially your filing cabinet. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Inspiration Party.

Jann, I love how you have decorated the porch. It is such a happy place with the pretty colors. I am crazy about your bicycle! You obviously have a green thumb! I am very envious of that. My poor plants are ready to retire, it's soo hot here.
