Share Your Cup Thursday #178

Hello my friends and welcome to Share Your Cup, (SYC for short).

The party where you share the things that make you happy.

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed this little break from SYC.  Just not so much that you don't come back.  lol!

It has been crazy busy around here with partying, celebrating my fil's 90th birthday, and marathoning Star Wars, :) Yes, we had to watch all of the old ones before going to see the new release.

Before I show features from two weeks ago. I want to thank all of you for your love and support this year.  I have made so many wonderful friendships and your comments mean the world to me!

There will be a new change with SYC next week.  Two people will be joining me in hosting it.

One thing I don't ever want to change is that each of you will get a visit from one of us.  Looking forward to a fabulous '2016'!

A Year in Review

Hello my friends, one of the things that I look forward to as each year comes to an end is looking back to see what posts had the most views for each month.

Do you like surprises?  I do, so I intentionally do not look until the end of the year.  I am always surprised at what makes the list.

January:
I shared my Embellished Hearts that I made from old linens and bits of fabric.

February:

March:
I showed how I made a Bloomin Birdbath.

April:
I took you into the garden again and shared how I was

May:
I shared my love for my country in She's a Grand Old Flag.

June:
I shared how I patched my ottoman in Feed Sack Fixer Upper.

 July:
My craft room that I shared for Where Bloggers Create.

August:
It was the forlorn Garden Shed that I spied on vacation and wished I could bring home with me!

September:
I shared my Fall Porch.

October:
I shared a few changes in our Guest Bedroom.

November:
I shared how I decorated old Snow Shovels

December:
I shared my Old Fashioned Christmas Porch for our 'Creating Christmas' link party.

A little bit of crafting, gardening, decorating, diy, and seasonal décor.  That pretty much sums up what my blog is all about.
Oh, except maybe thrifting.  :)
And believe it or not, I love to cook; but rarely do a food post.

Honestly, sometimes I wonder what people think my blog is about.  I have had people ask me and I really don't know what to say.  I usually answer that I just blog about whatever pops into my head.  And for the most part, that's the truth!

If you had to tell someone what my blog is about, what would you say?  Just curious.

Anyway, enough gibberish!  Just want to say thanks for another wonderful year!  I love reading your comments and connecting with you.  They really do Fill my cup!!

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!

hugs,
Jann

The Thrift Gift. . .A New Tradition

Hello my friends, hope you all had a very wonderful Christmas!

Hard to believe that it has come and gone and soon we'll be staring '2016' smack dab right in the face.

Looking forward to starting a New Year and wishing you a year full of happiness, health, and fun!

Before I start to embrace it I wanted to share a new family tradition with you.

I actually started this last year with the grands.  Everyone thought it was so fun, so this year I included the adults.

All year long I shop for the perfect 'thrift gift' for each member of the family.  Actually I forgot hubby this year, but won't forget next year. :)

This is our oldest daughters family.  Jason works construction and  as you can see by his cheesy grin, was quite pleased with his die cast digger!  Jordyn is wanting to redecorate her bedroom and wants to incorporate maps.  The stoneware aqua bowl will be a pretty catch all holder and the flower frog can hold pencils on Nicholes work desk.

Our oldest son, Lonnie is a surveyor and loves to hunt.  He got a vintage surveying tri-pod and old binoculars.  His wife Tracy has quite the collection of clocks.  This one had never been taken
 out of the box.

Braxton loves action type figures.  I found these three small knights all together on a thrift shelf.  I'm certain some kid had been having fun with them.  Darth Vader is actually his ornament for this year.

Because the knights were so small, he also received this vintage gun cleaning kit.  He hunts with his father.

Riley is a big 'Star Wars' fan and received a bag full of Pez Star Wars dispensers.

Paityn will have hours of fun changing the bands on this watch.

Our grandson, Kade is engaged to Ashley.  Also an outdoorsman, he received a vintage compass and she got two Christmas mugs.

Our daughter Karrah has a yellow and blue kitchen with a lemon theme.  She had spied these large S&P shakers at our home during a meal and loved them.  They were a thrift find, so I passed them on to her.  Jayson is a mechanic and the Harley Davidson glasses have auto parts on them.  Little Saydee loves pink and tea parties!

Taylor wants to decorate her room in shades of aqua and salmon.  How perfect is this butterfly art work?

Our youngest son, Dalan hosts a poker party after Christmas every year with his friends from high school.  Won't they be impressed with this poker set?

Jack and Will love cars!  Will was too busy playing to show his, but he got an entire case full of matchbox cars.  Jack got a box with three Tonka trucks and a motorcycle.

Somehow I missed getting a photo of Samantha's thrift gift, but baby Evan got a Beatrix Potter teething ring.  Also, never been used.  Thank goodness!  lol!  Looks like he is anxious to chomp down on it.

A couple rules about the 'thrift gift':

1.  It may not necessarily be useful.
2.    Grandma won't be offended if they decide to redonate it.

It's more about the fun than the gift!

It's hard to get great photos in our basement at night, but I hope you enjoyed sharing in our new family tradition!

hugs,
Jann

A Christmas Wish

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

May you feel the love of our savior each and every day!

Remember that Share Your Cup will return on Dec. 30th.

Have a joyous holiday!

hugs,
Jann

Home Tour of a Talented Friend

Hello my friends,
my oh my, Christmas is so very close and I wanted to share the fabulous homes that I got to tour.

I mentioned that I was honored to be included in two home tours with friends this year.

One of the homes belonged to my friend, Joanne.  We met through Instagram.  We both have a love for gardening and I was thrilled when I realized she only lived 15 minutes away.
Close to where I grew up.

I knew from the get go that she was a talented lady and when I found out that she had once managed Hallmark stores I knew she was a savvy lady as well.  But, I must admit; her Christmas décor left me speechless!

I think the pictures will do the talking.

Entry:

Living room:
I can't believe I didn't get an entire photo of her tree.  It was bird themed and absolutely fabulous!

Kitchen:

I have had a sheep fetish the last 3 years so this display in her hall way took my breath away!

Look at those darling faces!

Lots of photos, but somehow; I don't think you'll mind.  :)
I didn't even show her outdoor space and playhouse all decked out for Christmas.

Hope you enjoyed my friends home.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

hugs,
Jann
