Let's Step Inside of Hilltop Cottage...My She Shed

Hello my friends,
I have been like a kid in a candy store playing inside of
 my she shed.

In case you missed it I dubbed her, "hilltop cottage"  :)
It just seemed appropriate because she sits atop a hill in our
back yard.  I love looking up at her from under our pergola!  Really, it's a dream come true for me.

Some of you may remember this chippy cupboard.  I've moved it in and out of our home often.  It's adorned our front porch as well as our living room.  Well, now it's found a home inside of hilltop cottage.  It's heavy and I'm sure hubby is happy that it's found a permanent place to reside.

I decorated the top with a couple of my large birdhouses, an old tin with a floral design, a garden sign, an old funnel, a round wire form that once was covered with ivy, and a found nest gifted to me by our youngest daughter.

The cabinet is filled with garden essentials.  Pots for planting, seeds, and feed for the birds.

I am always picking up architectural pieces, big and small.
I've added them throughout the shed.  We hung half of a stair rail above the sliding barn door.

I added square nails to one of the 2x4's to hold my funeral basket collection.

The cupboard sits atop an old ironrite.  I placed a couple of my oil cans underneath and a small wheelbarrow holds some of my vintage sprinklers.

I stained all of the interior walls with the color 'driftwood grey'.  It's hard to tell in the photos, but it has a slight green coloring.

We also hung two half porch pillars on each side of the entry taking you from one room to the other.  Look up and you see a small bit of trim at the top as well.

Hubby cut me some branch twigs and added them to hang some of my old rustic lanterns.

Another lantern, (which once belonged to my fil) sits atop a wicker stool just inside the sliding barn door entrance.

I added scalloped garden edging to two of the beams for drying flowers and herbs.

I painted this small dresser a couple years ago to hold some of my gardening supplies.  I had it out on the deck.  It got a bit weathered and the bottom fell out of the top drawer.  Hubby is repairing it, but I couldn't wait to take a photo.  :)

You can also see that I am giving the top a mosaic design using a broken pot.

I'm hoping that next spring we can bring electricity to hilltop cottage.  I have a fun chandelier I will be hanging (with or without electricity) and I bought this wall sconce a while ago and it works.

I bought this fun barrel at a home up the street from me for $10.  The sweet lady was moving in with her daughter.  It worked great for corralling our croquet game.

More square nails hold my homemade chicken wire baskets.

I love the paver flooring!  The wooden beam is the transition from one room to the other.

During the winter we will store some of our garden furniture in this side.  I will keep the smaller side open for playing in.  (wink)

I am loving our junk wood wall!

I spied this piece at T.J. Maxx and thought it was so cute.  It says, 'fresh flowers daily'.

The little gaps in the wall are perfect for holding some of my hand tools.  Like this little hoe.

Small watering cans,

sprinkler, and oil cans.

The rafters are perfect for displaying some of my collections.

I bought this little metal table from my sister.  The fun tractor seat stool was picked up at Treasures Antique Mall.

Cute motif on the table.

As I look out my dutch door I am in awe that this is my own little bit of heaven up on a hill!

The primary purpose is for storing my garden goodies and potting plants.  However I opted to place my potting bench out back behind the shed.  It stays shady there for a long time and then the dirt can easily be brushed to the ground.

Hope you enjoyed the inside tour of 'hilltop cottage'

hugs,
Jann

I had a blog friend ask if I would share the cost and hours involved in our shed.  The cost was right around $5,000.  We gave a little money to our son and sil for all their work, so it cost us a bit more.  As for hours?  Gosh, I did not keep track.  They built it quickly because of an upcoming wedding, but I have no idea.

p.s.  just a reminder that the Voting for the Mystery Craft Challenge is open until Mon. I'd love it if you would hop over and vote for me.  That is if you like my little Fall Forest xoxo

I will be sharing with these lovely parties:

Your She-Shed is enchanting . . . I could go on and on about all the cute stuff, but the things that caught my eye most were the junk wall, the upside-down wire garden fencing and the washtub planter outside. You have such a great eye for pulling things together.
Simply stunning!

Oh Jann - Your "she shed" is so cute and precious. Love all of the old pieces you have put in it. I hope before too awful long that my new storage building will be empty enough that I can play in it also. Right now, it's still full of boxes to be gone thru,

Have a great week.
