Recently I attended a quilt retreat at the home of one of my friends, Dolly.
She has hosted it for three years and what a fun time it is!
When it comes to favors you don’t have to ask Dolly twice. In fact, you don’t even have to ask her once. The only requirement is that you go to bed. lol!
That’s right, when we are sleeping the Favor Fairy comes and leaves the sweetest little favor by our sewing machines.
Each morning we awake to find sheer creativity and cuteness.
Our first favor was a darling mini notebook. Perfect for jotting down sewing ideas or tips.
Look at this darling storage pouch made from an old pattern.
She couldn’t have picked a better one for me. That’s how I wore my hair when I was young. I had very fine hair and it would not grow long.
Love the mini spool attached to the zipper!
I have to show you the ones she gave my two sisters. Julie is the oldest of us three girls. It was like mom had two families. She had 5 chldren, then 7 years later had us three girls. Not all at the same time of course, lol! The one on the right is for my sister, Jeanne. She looked just like this in High School. So, so fun!
One morning we awoke to a sweet treat. An ice cream cone pin cushion. Dolly machine stitched all of the fleece to look like a cone. Does that woman ever sleep? I think not.
Look at this water bottle cover. I love it! Guess what? My sewing room is decorated in blue brown and pink. won’t this be just so cute? Notice the quilt I am working on? It has tons and tons of half square triangles. UGH!
This year not only did we get favors from Dolly, but we also got three favors from the boys.
Yes, there are two boys, (men really), but we call them the boys that come to the quilt retreat.
You would not believe the quilts they make. I will be doing a post featuring them and their quilts at a later date.
They gave us two darling pin cushions and a sweet wool flower to place on your machine. It’s great to hold a few pins.
Sorry, these last two pics are a bit blurry.
Thanks Dolly and the boys for such a fun time and all the favors. Hope I can do you a favor soon!
Hugs,
Jann

Wow, that is one special lady!
You must have had a blast.
Boy, you quilters sure get a lot done. And what a great way to use old pattern covers. Maybe I shouldn't have given all mine away to Goodwill?
Hi Jann!
That must be so much fun... quilting AND a sleepover?! Dolly sounds like a real sweetie and I bet everyone had way too much fun. I can't wait to see what you and the others made.
Thanks for sharing at my party this week.

Stop the fabulousness. This is too much! Oh my! The pattern storage pouches are to die for. I do not sew..but my "Granny" did. Growing up I would watch her sew and she would sew things for us girls...that reminded me of her. I absolutely love those! I have never seen them or anything like them before. How unique!!
What darling little favors! She is so creative. Love the olden pattern pouches! :)
Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Sounds like a wonderful time Jann!
Some people are so creative and can come up with the perfect gifts for people. These favors certainly are in that category. Every one is adorable.

I'm a new follower. I cam over from Very Merry Vintage! That retreat looks like fun! I had to come when I saw the name of your blog because I look like Mrs. Olson from the old Folger's coffee commercials just older. LOL! Love your blog and we have all the same interests! I also like to read and do needlework and DIY projects. I'll be back!
It looks like you had a wonderful time at the retreat! Quilting weekends are always fun!
I love that pattern pouch! What a great idea for old patterns!
I am not into sewing, but do enjoy seeing what others create.
What a fun time you must have had. Do you quilt during the day? Hope you can stop by. Visiting from Vintage Thursday. Blessings, Debbie
