If I have to weed. . .

If I have to weed, let it be in the herb garden!

This picture shows my shade garden with my herb garden starting beyond the tri color beech tree.

After all, weeding is ‘mint’ to be fun.

I really don’t mind weeding, just something about getting my hands into that dirt.

Hubby doesn’t share the same passion. And can’t quite understand mine.

Weeding in the herb garden is an aromatic experience.

Chives, Nepetia (catmint), Thyme, sage, and Comfrey all greet me with a wonderful scent.

I keep my mint in an old mop bucket to keep it from playing havoc in the garden.

Lemon Balm and Marjoram have almost completely buried my old hand plow.

Do you think my Rhubarb is a bit seedy?

Best get busy making a pie or cobbler don’t you think?

Jann

I bet it does smell wonderful. I'm not a big fan of weeding, but I do like the rest of the gardening process. The planning, the planting, the harvesting, even the canning (most of the time).

Jann, your herb garden looks like it is growing nicely. I have several herbs growing in a large planter and they are looking good too. I enjoy cooking with fresh herbs. I am envious of your large garden with so many different plants. You are obviously one of those green thumb people. Hope you have a great weekend!!------- Shannon

Your herb garden looks wonderful and also reminded me that I need to go pick some of my rhubarb! I love your mint in the tub - it looks so cute and a great way to keep it contained.

Love you herb garden...good idea about the mint...ours is overtaking our garden...my fear of putting it in a container...is that is could freeze during our winter...
I love weeding!!! I guess it's because I love being outside and can't just sit around so weeding gives me something to do outside:)

How did you manage to get your gardens so great as you haven't lived there that long have you? Be careful with the lemon balm too....it took over my one bed!
I have rhubarb to harvest this year fro the first time....YUM! Your gardens are an inspiration!

Oh Im a tad envious. I was so hoping to plant an herb garden in our tiny little back yard this year but I realized that hubby was not very excited about the idea. His office is on the bottom floor and I have to go through it in order to access our back yard, and so we dont spend much time out there as we dont like to interrupt him during his workday. But someday Id LOVE to have such a lovely garden! :)

Stopping by from Fishtail Cottage. Your yard is beautiful. I love working in my herb area which is not that large since most of my yard is partial shade. I do love being by the mint, and it can take over if not planted in a container. Thanks for sharing your yard with us.
