You Might Be A Gardener If. . .

You might be a gardener if. . .

You have a farmers tan, but you don’t live on a farm. (the pic really doesn’t do it justice.  I didn’t want to zoom in.  I mean that arm is big enough!)

IMG_6764

You might be a gardener if. . .

It looks as though you have flip flops on even when you don’t. (Yes, I garden in flip flops. And did I mention that I tan really easily?)

IMG_6757

You might be a gardener if. . .

your herbs and perennials are so big they look more like a bush.

IMG_6663

IMG_6662

You might be a gardener if. . .

you have giant sunflowers coming up randomly and you just leave them there.

IMG_6760

You might be a gardener if. . .

you have a collection of vintage rakes because. . . they’re just too cute!  (and yes, I have more)

IMG_6661

You might be a gardener if. . .

you have bees buzzing throughout your garden. (I have seen more of those giant bumble bees this year than I ever remember seeing.)

IMG_6654

You might be a gardener if. . .

You sprinkle Larkspur seeds 2 years ago and they keep coming back with a vengeance burying anything in their path. (notice the cute painted daisy that is crying out, “GIVE ME SOME SPACE!”)

IMG_6644

I could go on and on, but I think I’d better stop here.

Now, I am not a Master Gardener.  I have thought about becoming certified as one, but just haven’t done it.

However, I am the master of my garden.  So I guess that makes me a master gardener. lol!

How about you?  Do you think you might be a gardener?

Hugs,

Jann

Yep, happily guilty as charged! I don't garden in flip flops but I do have a pair of crocs slides (not the ugly regular crocs) that leave an awesome tan on my feet! Great post :-)

Yes, I am a gardener but I wear sunscreen so I don't have that telltale 'farmer's tan'. lol But I do have dirty finger nails and hat hair and old clothes I wear while gardening that I won't wear in public. You sure do tan well! Have fun in the garden!

Well, I thought I was a gardener until I moved to Arkansas from Iowa but NOT! It's tough to garden here with rocks and no black dirt at all. Arkansas weeds the gardeners right out....anyone can garden in Iowa with the rich soil but here? It takes a REAL gardener to garden here and I guess I found out I'm not but....I'm still trying and actually this year has been my best so far.
I love that lone daisy! Too cute!

That was a fun post!
I think I'm a gardener because, though I try not to tan and don't very easily, Yes! I have a farmer's tan. And I don't wear flip flops (can't stand that feeling between my toes!)but I wear a pair of Teva's and I get a strange criss cross tan on my feet from them! But my feet aren't as cute as yours! :~D
Yes, my herbs grow well cause the deer won't eat them, but the perennials...
The Jays plant sunflower seeds everywhere ~ we've even had them growing out of the apple trees!
Love your vintage rakes ~ I think they are cute, too! That pair you have in your milk can look like a sweet Mr. and Mrs.
Oh, my! I would love to grow Larkspur that well ~ perhaps I'm not a gardener after all! I wonder if you would like to save some of the seed to share at my Seed Swap blog? You can take a peek if you like over at ~
www.ladyfarmersseedswap.blogspot.com. We haven't started yet this year but would love to have you join!
You definately have a 'green thumb' and I would say you are a master of your garden! It is lovely!

LOL, funny and cute post. I'm most definitely not a Master gardner, not a bloom in sight today. I need to fill in what to plant when so I have blooms all summer! Your pics are delightful and I know you have a beautiful garden.

I just laughed when you said you had a farmer's tan! I looked in the mirror earlier this week and I have one, too! I guess it happened when I was mowing the pasture because I didn't wear my long sleeved shirt to cover me up with out there. Things are really growing.♥♫

Hi Jann, I am definitely a gardener... I inherited it from my mama, my grandmother and my great~grandmother... I too let flowers "bloom where they are planted"... I love things popping up in unexpected places!... I garden in thongs too (I still call them thongs, and I mean for my FEET, not the other thongs!)... my farmers tan gets darker every day, although I am more careful than I used to be about getting too much sun... love a big floppy hat to wear while I am gardening... all of your photos are so cute and I just LOVE your new profile pic on your sidebar!... Happy Gardening!... xoxo Julie Marie

You are quite the gardener. I've heard of farmer's tans before but never seen a farmer's toes. hehehe

we must be bobsy twins. Love the metal furniture, those are on my 'want' list! I have "larkspur" gone wild in my garden too, as well as shirley poppies. I just let them fill and and I yank them from where I want to have something else. Enjoyed your garden tour and the tan, my feet have the marks of my tatami birkenstocks.

You might be a gardener if you are visiting someone and on the way down the walk you pull three weeds for them. Yes...I did this during the week without thinking a thing about it- The owner thought it quite hysterical!;>)

I do NOT tan so easily...being a green-eyed blond means I burn and peel unless I am careful. xo Diana

Jann, Your new header is so pretty! I love it Greens and reds.. my favorites!! Yay!! I have a zigzag tan on my feet from my straps on my sandals! Yes, you are a Master gardener. My garden is not as far a long as yours is. We have such a short growing season, but it is coming along very nicely. Thank God we missed the golf ball sized hail that was just storming all around us. Very near here there was a freaky hail storm of 6 feet deep! Yes, I said feet! Oh, all the damage, makes me sad. But thankfully we didn't get that bad here!
Your garden is pretty!
Blessings,
Susie

Both your garden and tan are looking good Jann, I have missed my visits and am pleased to be back.

Hi Jann- I bet your garden looks really great with all this work you put into it. I haven't done too much gardening this year, though my mom bought some more flowers to put out yesterday. My family has been painting our porch furniture today, so hopefully we'll get our outdoor area looking in tip top shape soon!

I wish your daughter a speedy and complete recovery from her surgery. Thanks for visiting my blog the other day!

Does it count that I have some odd alien thing growing where a Bradford Pear used to be? Much like your sunflower, I've just let it grow... and grow....

Fran said...

I have the same tan lines! I'm always trying to "even out" my flip flop tan (with no luck). I've never had a sunflower just pop up, but if one did, I would definitely leave it! Thank you, that was a fun post!

That is too funny! I am guilty of having the farmers ran and s red/tan neck!! I get dirt stuck to my tootsies too! I love the painted daisy in and ingest the larkspur! Made me think of the children's story Horton Hears a Who!!
I agree too that I'm the master of my garden!!
