Blogland Tour Continues

Recently I was invited by Angela of Twelve Oaks Manor to participate in the tour that has been going around blogland.

Angela is a darling gal who loves decorating as much as I do!  She lives in a gorgeous home in Texas surrounded by 12 majestic Oak trees.

Angela and I have a lot in common.  Both of us are stay at home moms and empty nesters.  Her home is beautiful inside and out.  And let me tell you, I could sit on that porch of hers for hours!  Can’t you just see the two of us sitting there, sipping ice tea and having a good chat?  Squint a little it helps.  lol!

Now on to the questions I am suppose to answer:

1.  What am I working on?

Like many of you I always have more than one iron in the fire. I have been decorating my home with some of my vintage finds in honor of my Pioneer heritage. Here in UT we celebrate Pioneer Day on July 24th.

I added lace and fabric strips to a laundry hanger in my craft room.

I have been painting my sewing room and tomorrow I will be putting it back together.  Here’s a little sneak peek.  Hopefully I will show you the room in a post Tuesday evening.

I also just finished a cute little wool beehive pillow and now am making another wool beehive piece to frame.  Seems like I’m loving wool more and more lately!

2.  How does my work differ from others?

This was a hard one for me.  The main thing that came to my mind is that my blog is not about one specific topic.  Once someone asked me what my blog was about.  I just had to say, “whatever pops into my head”.  Of course there are always posts about:

Gardening. . .

Creating. . .

Junking. . .

Now and then:

Crafting. . .

Quilting:

And even a tablescape.

But occassionaly I just throw in something random like a bike ride or my family.  I love to cook, but don’t do many food posts.

Some of you know that I started blogging after my youngest daughter suggested it.  Just out of the blue one day she said, “Mom,  you should start a blog, I think you would have fun blogging about your decorating and gardening”.  Had no idea what I was doing, but it was instant LOVE!  I have always been a doodler(according to my sis I doodled my name on everything growing up). I love rhyming words.  Really, no poetic talent at all; just love making up silly rhymes. I blogged for two years for just family.  Didn’t know that this big wonderful world of blogland even existed.  (Yes, I’m a little slow).  Boy, did my world change once I discovered it.

You don’t know how happy it makes me when I run into someone and they tell me how much they enjoy my blog.  I love it if I can bring a smile to someone’s face.  If reading my blog does that.  Hallelujah!

4.  How does your writing/creating process work?

I actually think my blog is a little corny at times, but I just write from the heart.  Not a lot of preparation.  I don’t plan ahead on posts, just snap photos, write it up and publish.   My favorite part of a post is the title.  Title ideas are always popping into my head.  Now don’t tell me that doesn’t happen to you.  I have to admit that I have even gotten up out of bed a few times when a  title will pop into my head and I find that I am writing it out in my mind.  Might as well get up and enter it into my lap top so I can get down to the business of sleeping. Usually that’s when I am thinking of one of my silly poems. lol!

Now before I introduce you to the two gals that I am featuring I must tell you that I don’t usually participate in things like this.  WHY?  Because there are so many wonderful bloggers out there that I adore!  Some inspire me, others I feel such a kinship with, some lift my spirits and make me want to be a better person, and some just make me giggle till my sides ache!

How do you pick just a few?

Well, hard as it might be, I did it.

Kimberly from Camp and Cottage Living is such a sweet and talented lady! I felt a connection with her from the very beginning. She lives in Canada near Lake Superior, but was raised and spent the first 45 years of her life in the U.S. She has been married to her sweetheart Tim for over 40 years.  A mother of 4 and has 9 darling grandchildren.  She loves all things concerning home; sewing, decorating, crafting, gardening and especially time spent blogging!  Her and her husband often travel to Alaska, the Yukon, and Northwest Territories.

Leann from The Old Parsonage is another blogger that I instantly felt a connection with.  She often does those uplifting posts.  She loves making her home happy!  Taking care of her family and creating a home that is warm and inviting, where everyone feels welcome brings her pure joy.  The smell of fresh laundry just in off the clothesline, a neat and tidy home and garden, a good home cooked meal, a few desserts here and there, the love of family, friends, and fellowship all help to make her home a Happy Home!

I hope you will hop over and give these gals a visit!  Their blogland  tour post will be published on July 21st.

Thanks so much Angela for inviting me to participate in this fun tour!

hugs,
Jann

I love your wool beehive pillow. Isn't working with wool wonderful? I'm in a group called the Woolly Ewes that meets once a month to work on wool projects--penny rugs, pillows, wallhangings, pincushions, etc. As with quilting, it is addictive!

Do you know the plate of the little girl sewing is a painting done by Humphrey Bogart's Mother? Just an FYI.
