Isn’t it funny how one little thing can spark your imagination? As many of you already know, I have always been a ‘theme’ girl.
Give me a theme and this mind runs amuck! lol!
So it was with this ‘Ticket to Ride’ 4th of July Mantle.
This is the culprit that started it all. A few months ago I was at an antique store when I spied this ticket machine. Didn’t know what I would do with it, but thought it was a fun piece and loved the color.
It had been hanging out in my garage when one day I walked passed it and the ‘Ticket to Ride’ theme popped into my head.
Now this gadget really is a tag machine for pricing Pratts shoes. Wasn’t going to let that foil my theme. I added the punched star to the first ticket just to prove my point. Hee-hee!
From there I started pulling items that had to do with ‘tickets’. So many things that we do or attend require a ticket. A lot of those tickets can be very valuable. Can you imagine if you had a ticket to the first baseball game Babe Ruth played in?
Grab your ticket and let’s see where on earth we are heading.
Perhaps we’ll hop on a train.
Or go watch cars race on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
Not in my lifetime, but someday I can see people buying a ticket to take them on a trip to the moon.
I thought of lots of things that we ride in the summer time. How about carnival rides, boat trips, and even our bicycles.
Didn’t want to get to carried away so I just added an old pillar and a couple of metal stars borrowed from our Americana guest bedroom.
To finish off the mantle I hung the 4th of July banner I made last year. Notice the ticket reminding us to take time to ‘play’?
Uncle Sam wants YOU to have a fun summer!
Buy a ticket and hop on a plane, a boat, or train and have fun exploring the USA.
If you ask me, It’s a ‘first place’ nation! Full of so many wonderful things to do and see.
Hope you have a fun summer!
hugs,
Jann
p.s. I want to thank Nancy from A Joyful Cottage for featuring both my Americana Guest Bedroom and my Basement Guest Bedroom at her Every Room in the House Party.

Jann, I love the mantle. That is a great fun assortment of items. The little globe bank takes me way back. My twins had banks like it. They would get them out and count their pennies and then Liz would put some of Karen's pennies in her bank. LOL. :):) Thanks for the memory. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie
