Blessed November

Hello my friends, well; like it or not we have
 whizzed our way into November.

(My SIL, and I along with some of my friends made a bunch of calendars a few years ago.  I still enjoy pulling them out for each month.}

You know the saying, "time flies when you're having fun"?
And man oh man did Oct. ever fly by!
So let's just say, I had a whole lot of fun!!  lol!

All last week I found myself waking up with a  slight sore throat.  I dreaded the thought of it getting worse and going into a full blown sinus head cold.  That's what I always get, and I had not had a cold for the last two years.

Well, Sunday morning it hit me like a ton of bricks.  My head was pounding, but in between headaches I managed to decorate my November table.  Thank goodness for Sudafed!

It's times like this that you realize how thankful you are for your health!

I mixed a combination of green, orange, and yellow.  Originally I thought I would use my jadite plates as the setting, but liked the mixture of the green and orange.

I found this plaid tablecloth at "Piggy's Thrift' in New Hampshire.
The fringe has seen better days, but that didn't
stop me from loving it!

I actually found the set of 6 napkins first and then the owner said, "I think we have a tablecloth to match".  Funny that they had not put them together.

At a different thrift, I think in Maine I found the floral napkins.  I knew they would be cute to mix and match.

I wanted this table to have a charming, yet rustic feel.  Adding the wooden log pieces did just that!

I found the large piece under the bowl at a damaged goods store, and the coasters came from World Market a couple years ago.

My SIL gave me the ones with the groove.  They were perfect for name cards!  I had some 3x5 cards in a file box so I simply stamped names onto them.

I bought the glasses five years ago at the $1 store.  I bought 24, so that I would have enough for our entire family.

The green jadite bowl was snagged at Fleology in July.  I filled it with a mixture of acorns, pinecones, cinnamon sticks, and various nuts.  One giant pincushion acorn made it on top.

For the center of the table I used a vintage rice bowl I found at our local thrift a while ago.  Inside is a large gourd bought at a yard sale.  The lady had just taken a class and painted it the day before.  Weird, that she was selling it already.  And for an awesome price of $10.  She even admitted that she didn't make any money off of it, but said that she could make more.

I scored the enamel mint green coffee pot in New Hampshire as well.  Instead of instant coffee, for me it was instant love!  Ha, ha!  filled it with dried yarrow and added the yellow jello mold, another thrift find, inside the rice bowl to pull out the yellows in the tablecloth.

This photo shows the handle of the rice bowl.

Here you can see the groove in the wooden disk.  They would be easy to make.

I also found these sweet S&P shakers in New England.  I have to tell you a funny story.  At the first thrift we went to I bought quite a bit.  Hubby said, "you bought a lot today, and we have to get this home on an airplane.  You'd better pace yourself."  However, when I showed him this set of S&P, and another beehive set and asked which I should buy?  He said, "buy them both"  Ha, ha!  Gotta love that man!!

This is not the setting we will use for Thanksgiving dinner.  This year we will have our entire family of 21.   I will host it in our basement kitchen.  For now, hubby and I will enjoy a few meals at this table.  But it mainly will just look pretty.  hee-hee!

And maybe I'll just sit down and have a bit of tea.  I think it would taste wonderful right about now!

My sweet SIL found the jadite plates for me in NC.  Not cheap, but you just don't find them here!
The cake stand is not vintage.  It's from the 'Pioneer Woman' line.  They have been recalled.  Not sure why?  Glad I got mine before they were pulled from the stores.  I love it!

These saucers have the cutest embossed floral border.
I have just a few more jadite pieces, but figured the table was busy enough.

I may be fighting a cold, but I still feel very blessed!

Happy November!
hugs,

Your table and the coordinated colours all looks so perfect for November. I love Jadeite dishes and found some at an antique store in September but I didn't buy any. I like the green and pumpkin colours a lot. I hope you are feeling better soon. Have a great week.

What a bunch of neat retro items you have gathered here. And the jadeite which can be a funky color, works so well with the browns and yellows. Love it with the Fall touches. Great post, I love the glass cloche over the extra plates...gives them such importance, Thanks, Sandi

Jann, if this is how you decorate when you don't feel so good, wow, look out everybody when you do! I really love it, and love how you've managed to make the jadeite go fall! Such great finds too, and I love that you thrifted on your vacation. Isn't that one of the most fun things to do when going someplace different, just to see what they have that's different, regionally? Love your calendar too. Feel better, my friend, feel better soon.

Jann - Hope you are feeling better. Your table setting is wonderful. Love the mix of all of the different pieces. Love your Jadeite. That's something I wish I would have started collecting a long time ago before it got so darn expensive. Love it.

Take care and get well.

I love how you've used your Jadite dishes for Fall. Everyone is gushing over them but I'm intrigued with the orange plates, are they Moderntone Platonite? They look like it. Are they white on the backside? Again, lovely Fall setting! I bet you and Hubby are enjoying your meals. Hope you're feeling better!

Thanks for checking out my post about Halloween Barbies. My neighbor's daughters had a blast. I had fun setting it up. I always laugh inside when I see the name of you blog because my parents are from Sweden and I'd think about the Mrs. Olson's coffee commercials. They are in their 80's and still have very strong accents.

I love your table settings for November.

I noticed that you have black and white squares in your bathroom (at least in 2013) and I'm thinking of doing the same in my bathroom too. I have a french print curtain and Parisian posters etc. I think it will be charming. Now about the cat box....

Wow! What a lovely post! I am digging everything on that table, right down to the handstamped placecards! A beautiful setting, and very warm. Nicely done...gonna dig out my lot of scrabble tiles now. And, read up on the benefits of oregano for that cold. Aloha!

I really enjoyed your table scape today and will probably "steal" a couple of ideas. I just came across an old scrabble set of letters with no board. These would be perfect. And I love to create things with wool so will see if I can find a pattern for that pincushion.
