Today I am joining Alpha-Thursday for the first time. A girl needs to keep up on her studies, don’t you agree? My W word is WHAT
Is it a bird, or is it a light? That is the question I am asking myself.
You be the judge.
Labor Day weekend I asked hubby if he would help me install a bit of yard art that I had picked up over the summer.
He was more than willing to get it out of the garage.
Remember the pillar I bought when I went pickin? You can check it our here. http://jannolson.blogspot.com/2011/07/livin-my-american-pickers-dream.html That was an awesome $25 find.
Well, I picked up this birdhouse at a yard sale for $20. It had a T.J. Maxx price tag on the bottom of $50.
I knew that the birdhouse was a bit small, but oh well I had it. Let’s put them together. This is what I got.
At first I thought, hmmm; it is small but I don’t mind it. Suddenly, I realized every time I glanced it looked more like a lighthouse.
I can see it well from my family room window and from my upper level. The more I see it, the more I think lighthouse.
I toured my first lighthouse last Fall while vacationing in Door County, WI.
It was in the little town of Fish Creek.
I loved the history of it all.
So, whether it’s a bird or a light; I think the house upon the pole is a keeper.
Hey, guess that makes me the ‘lighthouse keeper’. lol! That is if it is a lighthouse.
Who knows, I may even put a light in it now and then.
We also put in these two smaller poles.
I loved the chippy white pole, so I just put a birdhouse on top. The other pole was stained brown. I decided to paint it tqs. blue. It’s hard to tell in the pic.
What can I say, “Love those poles”!
Hope that you’re getting some last minute projects done around your house.
Till next time, I’ll leave the light on!
Jann

It's me again, Kelley the Anonymous Commenter. Ha!
Love, LoVe, LOVE these. Hubby did well!
Why those are pole-erific! Sweet!
Ummm.....I should probably clarify that pole-erific is a synonym (in my mind) for terrific!
Wonderful! I love the chippy one too...they all look great!
I say let's call it a lighthouse STYLE birdhouse, how's that? Love the inventiveness..creativity. I cannot pass up pieces like this.the last very large column w flaking paint turned into TWO PLANT STANDS.FUN FUN
Too cute! I think you need to get an orange battery-op tea light for hallowe'en and a green or red one for Christmad - and then let the little house shine.
I agree - a little light would be perfect! That is quite a palatial bird house and the pillar just adds to the charm. I love the lighthouses in Door County - haven't been there in much too long...it is a place that is beautiful in spring with the cherry and apple blossoms and in the fall when all the produce is ready.
GREAT yard art! Love it all!!!
This is my first time here too! great post, and I must say they are all charming bird houses!
I believe it looks more like a bird house and probably birds will have a look if there is something to eat for them. I love the looks of them.
Great W word
Love this ‘W’ post! And thanks for stopping by!
Have a great weekend & look forward to *seeing* you again next time,
XOXO LOLA:)
These look so good in your garden!
I love your pole art !
What a great idea!
I don't really have a lawn (just sagebrush), so I love to put up crazy yard art..old wagon wheels, birdhouses, etc. I love your poles, they are just wonderful!
LOVE the yard art...very very cool!!!!
Hi Jann,
My vote is that it resembles a lighthouse!! Love all of your poles...well garden artifacts. They add such a visual interest after the flowers have faded. How about for the dark evenings you could run some warm white mini lights around it, maybe hubby has a spare minute to help?
All the Best,
Christine
Light house or bird house, it's gorgeous!
Glad you joined us today! Alphabe Thursday is wonderfully fun!
whatever you want to call it, it is charmign and delightful!
Anne
Welcome to Alphabe-Thursday! You have chosen an EXCELLENT letter with which to start! Your post is as clever as your yard art!!!
I like your poles and the birdhouse/lighthouse on top. It really would be great with a light!
That's so creative!
Luving your bird/lighthouse. What a nice addition to your landscape, and a bonus to be able to see it from many places inside. I just love birdhouses and lighthouse, being from New England we have lots of light houses. Your other poles are amazing also.
Happy Fall
Hugs,
Ellen
I love this kind of stuff... I think "Lighthouse"!!
Oh wow. A girl after my own heart!
Love your vision and your finds!
It does look like a lighthouse. It would be fun to have it electrified!
This is such a wonderful vignette. I'm going to look around and see what other treasures you've discovered!
Thanks for linking up to Alphabe-Thursday!
A+
