What Kind of House are You?

Today I am joining Alpha-Thursday for the first time.  A girl needs to keep up on her studies, don’t you agree?  My W word is WHAT

Is it a bird, or is it a light?  That is the question I am asking myself.

You be the judge.

Labor Day weekend I asked hubby if he would help me install a bit of yard art that I had picked up over the summer.

He was more than willing to get it out of the garage.

Remember the pillar I bought when I went pickin?  You can check it our here. http://jannolson.blogspot.com/2011/07/livin-my-american-pickers-dream.html That was an awesome $25 find.

Well, I picked up this birdhouse at a yard sale for $20.  It had a T.J. Maxx price tag on the bottom of $50.

I  knew that the birdhouse was a bit small, but oh well I had it.  Let’s put them together.  This is what I got.

At first I thought, hmmm; it is small but I don’t mind it.  Suddenly, I realized every time I glanced  it looked more like a lighthouse.

I can see it well from my family room window and from my upper level.  The more I see it, the more I think lighthouse.

I toured my first lighthouse last Fall while vacationing in Door County, WI.

It was in the little town of Fish Creek.

I loved the history of it all.

So, whether it’s a bird or a light; I think the house upon the pole is a keeper.

Hey, guess that makes me the ‘lighthouse keeper’.  lol! That is if it is a lighthouse.

Who knows, I may even put a light in it now and then.

We also put in these two smaller poles.

I loved the chippy white pole, so I just put a birdhouse on top.  The other pole was stained brown.  I decided to paint it tqs. blue.  It’s hard to tell in the pic.

What can I say, “Love those poles”!

Hope that you’re getting some last minute projects done around your house.

Till next time, I’ll leave the light on!

Too cute! I think you need to get an orange battery-op tea light for hallowe'en and a green or red one for Christmad - and then let the little house shine.

I agree - a little light would be perfect! That is quite a palatial bird house and the pillar just adds to the charm. I love the lighthouses in Door County - haven't been there in much too long...it is a place that is beautiful in spring with the cherry and apple blossoms and in the fall when all the produce is ready.

I believe it looks more like a bird house and probably birds will have a look if there is something to eat for them. I love the looks of them.
Great W word

I don't really have a lawn (just sagebrush), so I love to put up crazy yard art..old wagon wheels, birdhouses, etc. I love your poles, they are just wonderful!

Hi Jann,

My vote is that it resembles a lighthouse!! Love all of your poles...well garden artifacts. They add such a visual interest after the flowers have faded. How about for the dark evenings you could run some warm white mini lights around it, maybe hubby has a spare minute to help?
All the Best,
Christine

Luving your bird/lighthouse. What a nice addition to your landscape, and a bonus to be able to see it from many places inside. I just love birdhouses and lighthouse, being from New England we have lots of light houses. Your other poles are amazing also.
Happy Fall
Hugs,
Ellen

Oh wow. A girl after my own heart!

Love your vision and your finds!

It does look like a lighthouse. It would be fun to have it electrified!

This is such a wonderful vignette. I'm going to look around and see what other treasures you've discovered!
